Made sure my autocorrect didn't spoil that title...

As always, let's keep it light and avoid any spite!

I'm late 40s and live in the South-East. My first memory of the royals is watching D&C's wedding. My mum had to work that day but stacked up a tea trolley on wheels with party type food and my friends come over. I think we were 13. I guess that's where my interest started, then they were all in the papers so much in the 80s and 90s. It was like a soap opera really, what with the tapes etc.

My mum would always insist on watching the Queen's speech on xmas day.

I saw W&K when we lived in Singapore for a year a few years ago.

My two boys are the same ages W&H were when Diana died and that leaves me with a heavy heart.

I love these threads so much. I’m late 30s, live in Sydney (joined in when H & M came over) but from the midlands. Have always loved the royals and remember watching Charles and Camilla’s wedding and surprising DH with how much I knew about everyone!
I was 17 when Diana died, it was such a shock. We saw Will and Kate at Manly beach when they came over.
Oh, and i’m distantly related to royalty as my step-cousin is due to marry a royal very soon and used to date Pippa!

Someone drove past me today, outriders etc but their Range Rover had blacked out windows to my disappointment.

George is so long legged and grown up!

youngestisapsycho · 14/12/2018 11:20

It's their Christmas card picture.

youngestisapsycho · 14/12/2018 11:22

More Christmas cards...

Absolutely LOVE the Cambridge's Christmas card!

I'm mid 40s live in southern England, and have one DS aged 7. History buff who has really enjoyed finding out about some of the other royal families. I've seen the Queen and DofE at a walk about over 30 years ago and Anne at a similar time. DH meet the DofE last year. My uncle is a leading figure in one of Charles' charities - he and my aunt were at his wedding to Camilla (they were in the courtyard rather than the chapel) and my uncle was at one of his 70th birthday lunches. On the whole I'm probably more royalist than republican (I quite like the idea of someone who has not sought power as the head of state rather than someone who is in it for their own purposes and the continuity that comes from the role not changing hands every few years) but would like to see trimming down to core members. The RF do bring money in to the national purse and an elected head of state would still have security costs, and official residence etc so if the balance can be kept so that the costs don't outstrip benefits I'm happy to keep the status quo.

Harry & Meghan's

I love the country casual styling of the Cambridge family photo. I don’t know if I’m imagining reading that Royal boys only wear shorts? A quick google tells me it’s only the second time George has been seen in trousers. Poor thing must freeze in winter time when out and about if he has to wear shorts!

WipsGlitter · 14/12/2018 11:30

That photo of the Cambridges is just lovely! Charles got his money's worth from that photo shoot!!

Harry and Meghan. Meh. It's fine.

WipsGlitter · 14/12/2018 11:33

Also looking at those photos of Charlene she's always had a bit of a dead eyed look.

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/12/2018 11:33

@AhoyDelBoy George is only in shorts for official events, I've seen pictures of him off-duty where he's wearing jeans!

Yeh H&M’s photo is a little disappointing. It would have been nice to have seen another photo from the wedding where you can actually see them 🤔 next year should be good though!

AhoyDelBoy · 14/12/2018 11:37

Oh ok that makes sense Queen

itswinetime · 14/12/2018 11:38

Christmas cards yay!!! Love the Cambridge family shot especially as Charlotte is finally in a different dress Wink. Meghan and Harry it's a nice card but it reminds me of a thank you wedding card as oppose to a Christmas card!

Bloominglovely · 14/12/2018 11:40

The Cambridge’s photo is lovely. George is very like Kate. Charlotte like William’s side. Can’t tell with the baby. Is George wearing Hunters? Find iobvious brand names frustrating

Meghan and Harry’s is nice too.

I get that Xmas themes are naff but as they are actual Christmas card photos, I don’t understand why they aren’t taken beside a tree at least.

fredleighton · 14/12/2018 11:44

I'm in my 50s and live in London. For work reasons I'm often near the royal palaces in London and Windsor and have seen the Queen several times (including riding at Windsor with Princess Anne about 3 years ago). Have also seen William and Kate, Harry, Beatrice and Sophie Wessex.

frugalkitty · 14/12/2018 11:44

Love the Cambridge's card! I have two boys and a girl, same order, very similar age gaps and sadly now they're teens and ten the days of family photos like this are long gone! Grin

Would be nice to see them all in Christmas jumpers Wink. I imagine they aren't Christmasy because they are taken way in advance to have everything ready.

Also I may have imagined this but I think the queens cards take so long to send out it takes till January or February when I guess people don't want Christmas themed 🤷🏻‍♀️
