Check out Anne setting the style tone for royals to come! Just as her mother and aunt did befofe her, that link shows what gorgeous (and fashion mad) choices they get to make. Anne's hair in her youth was fabulous. I love the colour blocking, handbag matching and miles of legs. Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex had a great back catalogue to reference. That Launer website is appealing. All bags are very "ladylike" in a good way. And you can design your own color combinations. They are pricey of course, but not nearly as expensive as some other designer brands like Hermes and Chanel.

I think the Phillips girls, either Isla or Savannah would look fab in Granny Anne’s vintage clothes when they are late teens.

So the chubby royal toes are wearing big brother George’s preloved @earlydaysltd shoes. Only £30. Thrifty Kate!

We usually focus on the ladies; but I do like Haakon’s accessories here. Natty 2 tone shoes, buttoned up Blazer with jeans, scarf tucked into jacket; it’s a look!

Following on the vintage fashion theme, here is a retrospective of a Royal men’s fashion. I thought the 1940s colour picture of Wallis & Edward was a gem.

Love the pic of William & Kate when he is in the Irish Guards uniform. She looks fantastic in military tailoring and William always looks handsome in uniform.

I like the way Haakon seems to be bowing to the woman he is shaking hands with. I don't know who she is but if she is a random Norwegian, hats off to him.

HMQ and PP were gifted 500 tins of pineapple as a wedding gift from the Queensland Government. Pineapple was apparently becoming very ‘trendy’ at the time. I wonder what they did with it all!

This little snippet of information was gleaned from a TV programme I was watching today (can’t remember the name) where a modern family go back in time and live as though it was the 1950s. They talk about events through the years so HMQ & PP were mentioned because of their lengthy tour of Australia.

I’d love to know other quirky and interesting presents members of the RF have received.

I live about 2 hours away from Sandringham and I’m toying with the idea of taking the family to queue up outside the church to see the RF on Christmas Day this year. It could be a historic moment, IYSWIM.

Back to TM - he reminds me of my own father who has gone through several wives and left a legacy of distant children. Now he’s in his old age it’s all Me Me Me and attention seeking ego massaging. Meghan is absolutely doing the right thing.

The fashion retrospective is excellent, thank you Curly. There are a few pictures in which Diana looks really happy, the picnic in the desert stands out.

I’d forgotten about the very long women’s jackets, her red suit would be very difficult for someone shorter to carry off.

I enjoyed that retrospective of royal men's fashion. Charles has certainly inherited his great-uncle's eye for tailoring as he's always impeccably dressed. If only he'd pass some tips on to his brothers - Edward's double-breasted suits need to die in a fire! And Diana's red outfit is quite a look. Suit, tights and shoes are all exactly the same shade of red!

William looks good in a tux (and I love that lace dress of Kate's) but in more recent years he's ventured into dad jeans and fleeces - he's not even 40!

The article is from 2013 so the Harry pics are pre-Meghan. He went through a chinos and dad jeans stage too but has looked sharper since meeting her.

Re Anne, I love that green print dress though would probably leave the hat!

Incidentally, do you suppose she really is exactly the same size she was 30 years ago or does she get her dresses subtly altered to make us think she is? If they were made with enough material in the seams originally then that's a possibility.

I quite like William’s casual look 🤷🏼‍♀️ Not the jeans and checkered shirt from the Christmas photo though. Good for the photo but that’s about it.

I agree with PPs that William looks very handsome in uniform and a tux.
