trainers ,and ankle boots mostly , they are a bit wide for higher boots unless wide calf length bikers .. although I do wear them with my 'outdoor country boots' Calf length (v.v ancient) Dubarry Kildares

Laska2Meryls · 14/12/2018 14:48

I have mine on right now two soups just about to go out to pick up Dh from ferry , wearing Chelsea boots with them (and pink Meryl.. so nice and cheery )

Laska2Meryls · 14/12/2018 14:50

I'm a definite 12 , but fin 30s are great for fatter days and 29s for thinner !!

twosoups1972 · 14/12/2018 14:50

Thank you laska I've ordered a few pairs to try. Not sure which size to go for so ordered a selection of 10/12 and petite/regular! I'm 5'3" but sometimes find the petite length a bit too short.

Thank you for the recommendation Smile

twosoups1972 · 14/12/2018 14:51

Hope you're not too cold laska what time is he due in?

Laska2Meryls · 14/12/2018 15:24

Sorry I meant 10/12 ( depending on make) he's here so no waiting

PorpoisefullyObtuse · 14/12/2018 17:53

Hello all!

So lovely to see you back Laska. I’m glad you you ordered a bit of cheer.

I’m posting from bed. Not ill but it’s been an incredibly busy week - not meaning to offend anyone with real problems but I have dubbed it “hell week”. So many deadlines, DH out loads, kids Christmas plays, helping out with a million things. Working like crazy and running like mad at night. I always have a week like this annually, I know it’s coming and finally its over!!!

I’ve improved it by ordering a pink meryl!! Also accidentally bought new trainers. They were in the sale and are very lovely. All I need now is DH to bring me a cup of tea and 12 hours sleep!

Laska2Meryls · 14/12/2018 17:54

Back home now, we did a little bit of Christmas shopping on the way back.. Heck its darn cold out there (lovely back here though as i left the heating on ) and we are as about as far south in the UK as you can get !!.

Keep warm people ! (what you need is a Meryl or two!) and Gin Wine Grin

Happy Friday evening !

UtahGirl12 · 14/12/2018 17:55

Yaaaaas! The Carpe Diem is back in more sizes in limited stock. Had ordered the XL a sit was the only one in stock a week or two back, but it's way too big. I love it, so have held off sending it back, but have reordered now in a m and l. I've also ordered a reduced Meg ruched skirt in zebra print. Ooops!

dontcallmelen · 14/12/2018 19:12

Hi everyone, Laska that’s a bit rubbish with the mention me😡
Two Ella got some nice straightish leg jeans from M&S can’t remember what they were called though, yy Gap jeans are usually excellent, also Topshop have quite a few different styles.
It’s blinkin freezing here as well stay warm everyone.
I’m not familiar with Joni, know her best known stuff but she is not someone I have really listened too, dunno have a real wide range of music I loved early Rod Stewart & the faces, Kinks, Motown & reggae/soul through to Amy Winehouse & Dean Martin.
Dh has a really lovely singing voice, he is either playing music or singing, he sang dd first dance song at her wedding as he had sang it ours

dontcallmelen · 14/12/2018 19:19

We finally have a tree🌲 only thing is I think I will have to hack it quite a bit as it’s about six feet wide 😳

NotAnActualSheep · 14/12/2018 19:38

Laska2Meryl - I can't believe they are being so picky with the code...given what we all you spend, I'd have thought a loyalty discount would be in order! You'd hardly have been getting it for pennies. But I'm glad you have been enabled enabled yourself to it! And yes to sending it back if it goes in the sale.

happy that green love jumper is gorge! I think the Scarlett does have quite a lot of wool, so it is a bit itchier than other hush jumpers. I suppose it may have calmed down with washing, but you can never be sure...and you do have one you love!

Good call on the gap jeans. I have some of those and they are great... even better if you can get some on offer. Have to say I'm glad the universal skinny trend is calming down. I do like them for wearing with boots, but they aren't the most flattering style on me. Straight or boyfriend are much better (the latter only with bare ankles though, which is NOT HAPPENING at the moment). Or even a flare if I can be bothered to get them hemmed so they don't either soak up water from the ground or trip me up...without going too short and flapping round my ankles. It's a tricky balance to get right...

Sounds like you definitely deserve the Meryl (are they back in stock then? not looking ) and trainers porpoise!! Weeks like that are grim. You just can't prepare for them, even though you know they're coming... enjoy your Brew / Wine now...

Glad you picked up the t shirt and other stuff too Utah!! And yay for len's tree..even if it is taking over your house!

Yy to Christmas decorations being silly £££. We saw some fab festive sprouts earlier (I know...Xmas Confused) which were cute, but £8.50 each.... DS was outraged for the rest of the afternoon.

NotAnActualSheep · 14/12/2018 19:43

OK, tempted by the talk of jumper dresses earlier in the week, I thought I'd try this from Hobbs. And also a cord jacket treating my country horsey lady this week. I think I like them, but even in the sale they aren't cheap. Honestly, potato or not potato??

Len 'can't help falling in love' was our wedding song, we had it playing in the registry office while everyone was waiting for me to arrive. We had the upbeat version by an Irish band called 'Lick the Tins' - a brilliant cover. Later that night at the end of the evening do DH and his mates did a spontaneous serenade to me, DH on his guitar and one friend on his banjo, they were all very drunk by then and sang very loudly, it was fantastic! Everyone was up and dancing and singing along.
Love a bit of Joni Mitchell myself, my parents were big fans. There was one summer we went on holiday to France (we drove) and my parents played the Blue album non stop in the car. Brings back lovely happy memories of a hot summer in France.
@Laska2Meryls pleased to see you back Thanks

Ellapaella · 14/12/2018 20:31

@dontcallmelen ha ha yes same here, we are a very musical family. I play Piano, DH plays both acoustic and electric guitar as does eldest ds who has recently become quite good at flamenco! My middle ds has just started drum lessons. We are always either listening to or playing music.
@NotAnActualSheep - agree certainly no potato vibes, the dress looks lovely.

Ellapaella · 14/12/2018 20:33

@dontcallmelen and my DH's family have lived in the north east for the last two generations but all came over from Ireland originally so we have a big Irish musical influence on his side of the family.

OP posts:
dontcallmelen · 14/12/2018 20:43

Same here Ella my DF was Irish as well, DF & Dh both from Cork City & when both sides of the family got together, twas party central.

dontcallmelen · 14/12/2018 20:45

Dgd wants a piano for Christmas with a microphone , so she can sing Let it go 😂

Ellapaella · 14/12/2018 20:53

Aw that's so sweet 😊
It's lovely when they are that age they don't have any shyness and just sing their little hearts out.

@EachandEveryone possibly a bit too late now but yes, the Yasmin skirt does come up big. I have a 12 and kind of wish I’d gone for the 10 in retrospect but I’ve still worn the hell out of it in the last couple of months. It is also really really long - If you’re any shorter than 5’7 I wouldn’t bother unless you’re prepared to take it up.

EachandEveryone · 14/12/2018 22:21

Thanks. I wont bother then. Im just watching TOTPs Human League Dont you want me and im 16 again. I loved the 80’s

GinandGingerBeer · 14/12/2018 22:22

I, from a rather large Irish family too. All the aunties and uncles have their own Irish song, although they're all in their 70's now, so the cousins have taken the baton Smile

Meryl alert! If anyone is still fancying one, size S available at JL

hendricksy · 15/12/2018 09:54
