@laska do take care darling 💕I lost my DM on Dec 1st and that Xmas was very hard. I still chat to her in my mind, please be very gentle with yourself you really do need to do lots of self care and don’t exhaust yourself with Xmas prep bollocks.
Take it easy and hope the cold is chased away. Early night for you and stay warm, rest...

SoyYo · 20/12/2018 21:58

Hear Hear @melen!
👏👏👏👏👏

neveradullmoment99 · 20/12/2018 22:02

Yip :) hear hear @Melen.

GinandGingerBeer · 20/12/2018 22:06

Oh Soy Sad you can't reason with ignorance, believe me I've tried, some people just have no idea what immigration brings to us as a society. at all levels, it's integral to us and without it, we're f*#cked, we really are.
I feel deeply ashamed of this country.
They're not interested in facts, just their own bigoted fiction. Thanks

Laska2Meryls · 20/12/2018 22:06

Never I have fingers crossed hard for your DM and you.. look after yourself as well as her , it takes its toll otherwise.I think I have only been so weird this last couple week because I have been doing the looking after for others IFYSWIM .

DF did a lot of the ancestry .. and because it turns out our family is well established ( although not well off) in the area (a well-known south coast naval town) it hasn't been so hard..Many of our ancestors were either in the Navy or firmly on the other side of the law and so either service or court/prison/deportation records exist !! As well as well-documented and respected serving ancestors in royal navy I am also a proud descendant of those on the other side of the Law .. A notorious customs dodging/ tax avoiding locals smuggling/pirate group (Like it !! Grin)

dontcallmelen · 20/12/2018 22:07

Laska probably succumbed to cold again, as maybe a bit run down.
The clothes sorting is tough, it’s so hard dealing with loss especially this time of year, my DM has been gone fifteen years must admit I had a little cry today was sorting out some cupboards earlier & found the last birthday card she sent to dd, which was five days before she died.
Never 💐

Laska2Meryls · 20/12/2018 22:17

Flowers all. This is such a lovely kind supportive corner of Mn ( have you seen AIBU recently? Really, dont post there )

I am (snottily) taking myself and my tap-like schnoz off now ..with Brew which has no whisky in it even though its v tempting.

dontcallmelen · 20/12/2018 22:21

Porpoise we should declare independence like that old film passport to Pimlico, I’m in London & for all the difficulties that we here I’m like you, glad at least we voted remain.

PorpoisefullyObtuse · 20/12/2018 22:54

Dontcallmelen - I love that movie! What should we name our country? I bloody loved your rant and agree with every word.

SoyYo · 20/12/2018 23:05

Yes @Never really sorry to read about your DM Flowers you have a beautiful big close family try not to let it worry you too much and enjoy the special times together.

@Laska I like it too! Pirates and Naval officers! You’re definitely in the right place in IOW your salty boned DNA needs it. It’s so heartbreaking sorting through beloved family’s personal belongings...

@melen I know just what you mean re DM’s old letters and notes

@Gin and @Porpoise and @soups thank you for the support, I don’t feel it’s just “me” being overly sensitive anymore.
@Porpoise also loved the huge pink scarf you posted, beautiful

A warm welcome to new posters again do stick around when we are not having mini meltdowns we really do talk a lot about style and fashion! Grin

Finally I thought of @not and really really do hope you weren’t flying back to Gatwick this eve 🙏 hope you got home safely. I enjoy your dry SOH so much, I always smile or LOL when I read your wry humourous take on things Wink

We all need our sleep so night night all. Tomorrow I have a new dress delivery to look forward to Wink

missfliss · 21/12/2018 07:28

soy I'm sorry I didn't see your post but wanted to add my voice to all the genuine support below.

My stepmum feels very similar - she is German by birth and has lived in this country on the whole solidly for over 30 years. She has worked here, raised 3 dual nationality kids ( doctor, lawyer and engineer), helped raise 4 British stepchildren ( me included).

I myself have benefited from freedom of movement and the ERASMUS exchange university programme.

I have a little European flag badge on my coat which I wear with pride

In the last few months for work I have been in Essen, Amsterdam, Paris and a Luxembourg and have felt poignant on every trip.

Brexit is monumental idiocy. I am disgusted. I still hope it won't happen. Yes I blame the Tories for a shit austerity era and sowing the seeds of othering.

Sending hugs and flowers. None of my friends or family chose this.

ThanksThanksThanksThanksThanks

SoyYo · 21/12/2018 09:02

miss 🙏 Gracias, Merci, Bedankt, Danke, Thank You! 🤗

Laska2Meryls · 21/12/2018 09:20

Am Miss Snotty Mc Snotface this morning .....Sad

Wearing old Hush grey star top ( and soon Grey Mery l over as goin gout in a bit )
and charcoal Gap jeans ( so glad they worked out for you Two Soups )

Miss Fliss I love the blouse on you .I have looked at that several times!! (maybe it will be in the sale.. hopes )

I have to go out and buy a new Microwave as old one gave up the ghost last night.. The Christmas Spending Joy is never ending ...Grin

SoyYo · 21/12/2018 09:23

You sound stylish @MissSnottyMcSnotface Grin
Hope you source that microwave fast and can get back in the warmth of home to rest and get rid of the sniffles 🤧

Laska2Meryls · 21/12/2018 09:29

Grey on Grey maybe a bit dull Soy... but the pink Meryl , would clash with my nose ..GrinHmm

Liveinthepresent · 21/12/2018 10:02

Just popping in to say I have placed a LARGE Hush order - very late last night once my salary was in and quite a bit of wine consumed !

Keep fingers crossed it arrives before Christmas as I paid £12 for express delivery !!

Will report back - I mustn’t keep it all but really need to find something to wear that makes me feel better .

Ordered black Marina in case the dress is a disaster .

Agree with all the general Brexit comments BTW - I don’t know anyone in real life who thinks it’s actually a good idea .

Ellapaella · 21/12/2018 10:16

Quickly popping in to say @missfliss I love the top - you look gorgeous.

And agree on Brexit calamity.. total farce, can't imagine who thought it would be a good idea. I really hope there will be a second ref and we can just stop the whole stupid process.. and then get back to concentrating on trying to salvage what's left of the NHS, education system and tackling the housing crisis (as if.. current government don't give two hoots).
This country seems to be in the depths of a political crisis and it's so bloody frustrating.
@SoyYo 😘

missfliss · 21/12/2018 10:30

Aaw thanks everyone- I got it in the sale and it's been one of my best hush purchases this year.

The things I've recently bought there and worn loads:

Patterned leggings
Wide jersey tops
Snake print marina
This blouse

I also tried a dress recently that was a disaster . Think someone else (laksa possibly?) that also found the same dress b unflattering

ilovecherries · 21/12/2018 10:44

I’m about to head to the frozen north (of Scotland) for my dads birthday tomorrow. Staying with them till late Sunday, then swooping round via home-home to pick up dd after her last panto, and coming back to England for Xmas. Would have preferred to be at home-home but DH is on call on Boxing Day and 27th.

Laska2Meryls · 21/12/2018 10:56

I'm going out later now.. (so should be wrapping presents/ hovering but back here after doing kitchen .. .)

MissFliss (you read my mind! ) I was also thinking about what I had bought and asking you all ...

SO here are a few Hush Exam questions for you all !! Grin

  1. Looking back over A/W season what have you bought from Hush which has proved to be a winner?
  1. What hasn't got worn much , or at all ?
  1. And what old Hush Item from previous seasons do you keep dragging out?

For me, my Hush favourites this last season have been:
The 2Meryls (of course!!)
Wide Green top
Charcoal L/L T
Animal print leggings (both leopard and Zebra)
Velvet puffa

Navy Ivy
Soft Grey top

Ive bought ( and not worn much)
Charcoal wide top .. (not sure why really, I think it gets forgotten)

Not worn at all :
Red crew jumper in the sale ( still has its tags on )
Black and Navy wide leg trousers in the late summer sale (i,m counting that as A/W !!) . Haven't worn either of them ,..(luckily they were really cheap!)

Black and Charcoal L/L tank , but TBF they were on back order and only arrived a week or so ago
Also Bronze pleated skirt ( but that was ebay BNWT) I hope to wear that sometime over the festive season..

As for previous seasons stuff, I still pretty much live in my Ivy dresses. esp the burgundy one, and my (several) dye-project Amies .. (I haven't worn my Hush harems at all since I did the Amies though I wont sell them .. )

So it seems that I am a' practical clothes' bunny with regard to Hush A/W stuff .. But then it is different in Summer , and of course , my working life has changed a lot this year..

So interested to hear what others Hush Hits and Misses have been this season ? ..

dontcallmelen · 21/12/2018 11:34

Miss meant to say that’s a lovely top, gorgeous colour.
Live hope your haul is a success.
Cherries safe journey.
MsSnottyMcSnotFace just walk around with a large loo roll, it’s the only thing that’s helps the mopping of nose.
Well I’m the hush fraud on this thread, as most of it just doesn’t look right on me (unlike all of you) some of the summer tops were really good & the Rose crepe top I have worn loads, please don’t throw me off the thread😭I live vicariously through you all.

dontcallmelen · 21/12/2018 11:37

Porpoise I’m still thinking of what our new republic could be called. I have a special notebook & pencil at the ready for the new constitution & mocking up new passports at the kitchen table for approval.

Ellapaella · 21/12/2018 11:45

My Hush hits have been the Zebra skirt and petrol blue star biker sweat. I wear both of these a lot.
The wide green jersey tee I haven't actually worn much, I got a small and I think it's a bit too big, I'm not sure it really flatters me very much tbh. I'd prefer it to have a V neck, I'm not great with high necklines

My star frayed jeans still make a regular appearance. I wear them all the time with trainers.

Im having a bit of a downer at the moment. Nothing feels right, don't feel happy with the way things look but can't decide what I actually want either. I keep thinking certain things will solve all my problems (DM boots, coated skinnies) then I get them and of course it doesn't actually make me feel much better at all. Think I'm just in a hormonal slump right now.
@Laska2Meryls I do wish I'd tried a Meryl though.. my biggest seasonal regret. I also really wanted the frill neck jumper but at £149 that was out of my price range.
