Link to previous thread.

And once again, let's keep this good-spirited. Spiteful comments are about as welcome as Fergie at Prince Philip's birthday party!

Isn’t that why Philip got so annoyed with Fergie. Having affairs is not the issue, getting caught is the issue. I remember reading it was Kate’s descretikn that gained favour with the RF when William called it off with her during their ‘courtship’.

TracyBeakerSoChristmas · 12/12/2018 14:34

Yes Philip was touted as a name. But all the names mentioned in the press just happened to belong to the same lunch club as Stephen Ward.
Article here in The Telegraph:

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/12/2018 14:36

I think since Angela Kelly got involved in styling/ dressing QE she has really upped her style game

I totally agree, and having Angela design some of the outfits will certainly be a darned sight cheaper than using top names ... something which would probably appeal to the Queen!!

TracyBeakerSoChristmas · 12/12/2018 14:38

A lot of the women Philip has been linked to share his love of carriage driving. A sport which his granddaughter Lady Louise has taken up.

owlshooting · 12/12/2018 14:54

I know someone who was a theatrical agent at the time and she knew for a fact she says that Philip was having affairs. She knew a lot of the movers and shakers, and says it was common knowledge.

AdaColeman · 12/12/2018 14:59

One of the explanations for the long gap between the birth of Anne and Andrew is said to be the Queen's displeasure at Philip's various liaisons.

But back to fashion...
The Times are claiming that their fashion editor Harriet Walker was the inspiration behind Meghan's draped velvet look at the fashion awards.

As to Meghan's speech about kindness in fashion, let's hope all the teenagers starving themselves so they can be thin enough for a chance on the catwalk, or getting doped up to the eyeballs so they can fun from show to show, and all the women & children slaving on sewing machines, feel the kindness too.

Bloominglovely · 12/12/2018 15:08

And the people affected by waste from textile factories destroying their drinking water....

But this isn’t what Meghan was referring to and we should not nitpick her speech. She has had enough of that and it is hypocritical of us to slate it while we are all contributing to a style and beauty forum which consists mainly of fast fashion......!!!!!!

Becles · 12/12/2018 15:10

So Meghan is to blame for the hypocrisy and detrimental behaviour of the fashion industry. Not papers like the daily mail and Sun who ring women's cellulite or started a countdown to Emma Watson becoming 'legal'.

How can anyone but someone determined to find fault call out DoS for talking about kindness in fashion?

Want2bSupermum · 12/12/2018 15:18

This is why I said she shouldn't have talked about values.... please stop about the DofS.

Anyway I'm heading to Germany tonight and meeting a friend for lunch during our stopover in Norway. When the RF do these tours it's no wonder they have so much luggage. Im on my own with 3DC and I've got two suitcases for Germany and I've already sent two ahead to Denmark!!! DH has his huge suitcase with him too. I can totally understand why they would have trunks if doing 3 or so outfit changes a day. My 2 year old averages 3 outfit changes a day but at least her stuff is tiny!!!

AnimalMystery · 12/12/2018 15:21

She can’t win, really. Lots of people (including on here) say that she should be promoting British fashion; it’d hardly do that if she made a speech saying what a load of pointless and shallow frippery it all is.

itswinetime · 12/12/2018 15:39

Letizia at a foundation board meeting today Instagram Queen L

And Harry and Charles are hoisting a Prince's trusybround table whatever that is Prince's trust.

We said a few threads ago about what would happen to the princes trust when Charles becomes king looks to me like Harry will be taking over

LuciaSpain · 12/12/2018 15:40

I'm surprised there's so little mentioned of Letizia on here, she's so effortlessly classy.
As for that bump holding, I reckon Harry has been summoned to Granny's house! 😁

Paradyning · 12/12/2018 15:46

Ooo I like that coat! We do talk about Leti quite a lot. Probably not as much as Max though.

Notmyrealname85 · 12/12/2018 15:52

Someone mentioned today that Meghan’s award ceremony wasn’t listed on the court circular, is that true? Not sure how to find it!

LuciaSpain · 12/12/2018 15:53

I'm not gone on that coat, maybe it's the trousers being so short, the outfit doesn't flow.

Max is really lovely, her personality adds so much to her outfits.

LuciaSpain · 12/12/2018 15:55

I think it was a private engagement but nothing they do is private, particularly with the carry on out of her. I reckon HM must be fuming, you can't just turn off being royal when it suits you. Some pictures of a photo booth have already been removed.

Bloominglovely · 12/12/2018 15:58

Letizia’s coat is neither oversized or fitted. I don’t like it but I really like her trousers and shoes. I wonder what height she is?

She wears a lot from the high street, incl Massimo Dutti (Spanish so makes sense I guess) but the style and sizing suits her so much. I have family in Spain and they say she is despised by the public. I’m not sure if it is a snobbery thing - a tv presenter marrying into the RF (sounds familiar right 😀) or if it is what they know of her personality. They are anti royal so it is a topic we avoid but they occasionally spit venom about her.

Moononthehill28 · 12/12/2018 16:00

I wonder what the Queen does think! Maybe she just doesn’t read the papers or take much notice? Perhaps she’s just tired of it all.
Hard to tell.

Bloominglovely · 12/12/2018 16:05

I imagine the Queen has more onher mind - Philip’s health, her own health, Brexit ... not much time to worry about what colour nail varnish Meghan was wearing!

Moononthehill28 · 12/12/2018 16:06

Yes that’s what I was thinking. She must think ‘oh not all this again’!!

LuciaSpain · 12/12/2018 16:12

Leti is not liked in Spain, I really don't know why. I think she has held herself well.

Oh HM will care, the royal family is all about image, her advisors will be on this.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/12/2018 16:14

If I was HM I'd be wondering why people frothing about a nail polish colour or bump cradling didn't have better things to worry about!

I worked with a Spanish woman who was furious that Felipe had married Letizia. Apparently there were far more suitable women he could've chosen to marry but he went for a divorced newsreader! Does that sound familiar?

OP posts:
Becles · 12/12/2018 16:23

@QueenOfTheAndals Wink At least Leti isn't (...well you know...) And her hair's neat and tidy, so she obviously knows what's expected of her (...because, well you know...)

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 12/12/2018 16:31

Wasn’t it Leti & her MIL who had a very public tussle?

IdaBWells · 12/12/2018 16:32

Head shot and CV from early in MMs career. She is very petite if her weight has remained the same as 113lb is less that 8.5 stone and yet she is above average height at 5'6".

There is a list of coaches she has trained with and she has had lots of voice training for acting which would explain her confidence and poise when giving speeches. I'm surprised the DM hasn't hounded every coach on the list!!
