I used to follow DMBL40 on Instagram but her look got very samey after a while.

Love those pics!

Clionba · 21/11/2018 20:36

I used to like DMBL40, but she just seemed to become indiscriminate with the advertising. Every post was yet another new dress. Some of these bloggers are promoting consumption, which is nice when people like Megs and Kate repeat.

Gooseysgirl · 21/11/2018 20:44

MM nailed it today, I thought she looked fab! KM was a miss for me other than the colour.

AhoyDelBoy · 21/11/2018 20:47

Rare miss Blush

Bloominglovely · 21/11/2018 20:50

I agree with DMBL40, she is sponsored to the hilt and almost everything is an advertisement. I dip in and out of her feed, She wears very high end high street these days which are totally beyond my budget but I like how she styles a (sponsered) M&S dress that I wouldn’t cast a second glance at myself. She wears a lot of Self Portrait, usually with a leather jacket, and they really suit her.

AhoyDelBoy · 21/11/2018 20:50

Instagram on the whole seems to be encouraging consumption in a major way. Especially with the, relatively new, function where you can click the item and it takes you straight to the website to buy! Shock

Bloominglovely · 21/11/2018 20:55

It is how clothes advertising has gone. On the plus side though, it is very very easy to unfollow if you find yourself overspending.

I’m not sure about anyone else here but with the exception of underwear, I never walk around looking at clothes these days. Everything I buy is online. It is the way things have gone for many people I guess.

The Frugality made me raise my eyebrows today when she said she would not link any Black Friday sales due to over consumption, she links house, fashion and baby stuff every other day though Grin

EdWinchester · 21/11/2018 20:59

Kate got it so wrong today. That outfit is horribly dated and the bow in her hair is cringe worthy.

Meghan looks great though. She has a natural sense of style.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/11/2018 21:07

I do wonder about some Instagrammers who seem to do nothing but shop, yet show no sign of having a job. I know social media can pay but I didn't think it paid that much!

I have a few family members who blog. From what I can make of it it they spend a lot of time and effort trying to blag free items and treatments. Also heavily rely on the Bank of Mum and Dad

Laiste · 21/11/2018 21:19

I thought KM looked ok today. Not as 'queenly' as we've been used to lately i suppose ... Her shoes are a little odd. Compared to the classic towering but basic court shape she usually wears.

The bigger ones earn loafs including freebies and holidays abroad. I know of one small blogger who was gifted a designer buggy, cot, high chair, tonnes of clothes, nights in hotels, baskets of gourmet food, huge amounts of top end make up and creams, and she does it on a very small scale compared to the ‘big names’ who have thousands and thousands of followers. Somebody else I know who advertises two or three things a week earns £400 a month and that is ONLY for posting two or three photos a week on Istagram.

However I didn’t mean to derail the thread. I only intended to point out that Self Portrait looks great in tall, willowy frames.

Bloominglovely · 21/11/2018 21:24
  • loads not loafs obv!!!’
user1457017537 · 21/11/2018 21:27

I will tell them to carry on then. Perhaps Andals we can have a collective mumsnet style blog and all get freebies!

AhoyDelBoy · 21/11/2018 21:41

I wonder the same Queen Shock

RosinaAlmaviva · 21/11/2018 21:42

I like the beige skirt and polo neck; it’s a real Carolyn Bessette Kennedy look.

I love it too. Planning to channel it myself but I can't quite get into my own beige skirt! I need to lose a few pounds then report back.

I’m not sure about anyone else here but with the exception of underwear, I never walk around looking at clothes these days. Everything I buy is online. It is the way things have gone for many people I guess.

I'm about 70/30 online/instore. However, I buy a lot from retro brands which are online only or have very few stores.

Meghan looks wonderful in that berry colour, and her enthusiasm shone out on this visit. Glad they've done so well with the cookbook. Less to say about Kate as it's a repeat, but more power to her for repeating.

Clionba · 21/11/2018 21:49

I never buy anything online. I like to look around, feel the fabric, check the finish. I'm probably in a minority (hence the demise of the high street)!
I wonder when we'll see an end to these younger royal women wearing very high spike heels?

Ktay · 21/11/2018 22:25

Camilla’s been at a Julien McDonald fashion show tonight re-wearing the dress she wore to the remembrance concert at the RAH (I think) - good on her. I also like the pansy dress wears quite a bit.

Ktay · 21/11/2018 22:25

*she wears

Tortycat · 21/11/2018 22:53

I love the idea that km and mm etc have a Royal Ladies Whats App group!

I love looking at their clothes, even though at the same time I'm irritated by us taxpayers having to fund them for doing relatively little (esp Camilla).

I can imagine how they might critique my outfit today... "Jeans by h and m - nice colour but smear of cream cheese and unwashed hair (curtesy of dc and not noticed til i was out) takes away from the look. Why can't she look more groomed? And a nice top but grey really does nothing for her and makes her look older than she is. She really needs richer tones and a good haircut. And why does she wear those same shabby boots every day??". Annoyingly i think i know what i do wrong but just dont have the time/ energy/ money to fix it! At least that's my excuse!

AhoyDelBoy · 21/11/2018 23:12

🤣 Tortycat

Want2bSupermum · 22/11/2018 02:35

Instagram and those advertising on it annoy me. Most of them are working really hard to get sponsorships and have their lifestyle subsidized by others.

I rarely shop these days. When I do I know exactly what it is I'm looking for. I buy my jeans at next, tshirts at GAP, other casual at Sainsburys, my work dresses and suits at Hobbs, LK Bennett, MM LaFleur, Coast and jigsaw. I don't spend much on clothing because I buy 1-2 outfits a year. This year I got two summer dresses, wellies, boots, a winter coat, two pairs of jeans from next and a couple of tops from Sainsburys. Next year I'll get two dresses altered and possibly buy a new outfit for work. I've got two outfits being altered right now.

I have zero time for online shopping. I look online and send my list of what I think I would like and go from there. When I do buy online too much needs to be returned and I just do not have the time to deal with returns. I tried to buy shoes and after 8 pairs of shoes returned I gave up and went to the store. I tried on another 6 pairs before finding the one pair that were right for me. Last month I tried online shopping again and the coat and snow boots went back. The coat looked cheap and the snow boots were uncomfortable. It took me 3 weeks to get them returned.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 22/11/2018 04:17

Thanks for the heads up pp.
Camilla at Julien McDonal fashion show.
It was in aid of the Osteoporosis Society of which she is patron.
Canny of her to wear a recent dress so the attention was not on what Camilla was wearing, she’s a thoughtful woman.

I bet Kate has introduced Meghan to Mumsnet, dont you think?
