Agree messy bun is slightly too messy on this occasion and not right with the outfit.

The added halter neck: my friend had to make this alteration to her wedding dress as there didn't seem to be anything in the shops which wasn't strapless.

queenofarles · 19/11/2018 20:19

Shouldn't that be the job of her stylist curly? , is her friend still styling her? She should hire whoever is styling Beatrice Borromeo, they are doing an excellent job.

Hihellohi · 19/11/2018 20:22

Soemthing really strange about Meghan’s ensemble tonight. The ribbon/belt thing doesn’t really go and why make it a halter neck?
Would’ve looked better with the skinny trousers like the designers website.
She used to be so stylish, I hope she finds her look again.

@beanaseireann

the link to the magazine.

I'm on my phone as ds has nicked my iPad so cannot see Caroline's neck so clearly. I think earlier I thought it just looked very wrinkly. She's almost 60 and lives in the South of France.

WipsGlitter · 19/11/2018 20:31

Well it's black tie so a coat dress wouldn't work but a cape or something wouldn't go amiss.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/11/2018 20:32

Meghan has really lost her way fashion wise.
Her original style was not appropriate for a Duchess. (Fogeyish as I am, I cannot quite believe she wore ripped jeans and a huge untucked shirt for her first planned photograph with Harry at the Toronto invictus games.
Someone needs to call Vogue to stage some kind of intervention (only half joking). She desperately needs a stylist and a hairdresser on speed dial.

itswinetime · 19/11/2018 20:34

I'm glad I'm not alone re the hair! Absolutely she doesn't have to copy Kate I just think it would be nice if she had some one do it.

I agree the ensemble is a little odd definitely should have been altered I think that's one of the reason Kate's look is so polished she may be in an £60 Zara dress but it is alter for her so it may as well be couture.

I do wonder if she brought this for Charles doo all inside and us now rewearing as it seems silly to spend money on 2 gowns that will only work for a shot length of time pregnancy wise but we will never know one way or another. If the dailymail is to believed I'm sure they have bigger staffing issues than a seamstress but while your interviewing Meghan add one to the list!

Hihellohi · 19/11/2018 20:37

I’ve just been reading the comments on the DM article about her, there are really some vile and bitter people around.

But I do enjoy reading this thread. Hopefully she can step up. I didn’t mind the ripped jeans and shirt look, atleast it was her. But this, it’s so 2003 and dated.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/11/2018 20:41

From the same label as tonight 'cute capelet'

I doubt Meghan was wearing tonight's top for Charles do, because those stonking earrings would not have matched.
However the label.does have some stunning evening gowns

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/11/2018 20:42

I think pregnancy has thrown Meghan a bit and she's making some strange choices. She was very tiny before and seems to be struggling to find things that suit her expanding shape.

I'm reluctant to criticise her hair, given the politics of black hair and the history of black women being told their hair is too messy/isn't professional enough etc. Meghan's hair, even straightened, will have a completely different texture to Kate's so she won't be able to adopt the same elaborate hairdos. And maybe she likes the bun, it's her trademark look!

Liveinfive · 19/11/2018 20:47

What Meghan is wearing this evening isn’t very flattering. The neckline is horrible and the skirt swamps her. Also, is she not cold in those bare shoulders? I think she’s struggling with her changing shape, I know I found it hard to find clothes to suit before my bump popped out. I don’t mind her hair, it’s naturally curly so probably hard to get a neat style.

itswinetime · 19/11/2018 20:47

never read the comments Wink. People are really Nast for no reason I don't love the dress or the look overall but no need to be horrible.

I think she's still in the whirlwind of the last year she hasn't focused understandabley on her style she knows she wants/needs a different look from before but I don't think she wants or really needs to go down the fully 'royal' route like Kate. I think she needs so time and also so help personally I'm hoping she gets that from the likes of Beatrice and Eugenie. I know they have had some issues over the years fashion wise but the experiment which I like and they seem to have fun with clothes which I think Meghan needs to get back to!

Clionba · 19/11/2018 20:49

Maybe she does, Queen and there are definite politics with black hair. However, it would be nice to see more variety of styles, there are lots of great hairdressers who could work with her, but, her hair - her choice.

Liveinfive · 19/11/2018 20:49

Perhaps a dumb question but what is Soho house? Is it a hotel chain? She seemed to promote them a lot when she had the Tig and then that trip her and Harry took to Amsterdam was something to do with it too.

itswinetime · 19/11/2018 20:49

CurlyWurlyTwirly good point re the earings I'm obviously just desperate to convince myself I know what they wore 😂

WindyWednesday · 19/11/2018 20:53

Her dress is so random. Looks like she had a hormonal meltdown and grabbed a stretchy skirt that was comfy and a holiday top. So odd.

She really needs to wear maternity wear now. It’s so more flattering and won’t make her feel massive as it will be cut to the bump.

Where has her stylist gone, or does her stylist hate her?

Clionba · 19/11/2018 20:54

I saw one of her infomercials about Soho House too, promoting that and a line of fashion.

WipsGlitter · 19/11/2018 20:55

I don't know if she had a "stylist", her friend Jessica Mulroney was apparently advising her but imho JM's style is a bit Essex wife.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/11/2018 20:59

They're a bit pointed aren't they? I don't usually read the things and wish I hadn't now Hmm

To be fair, big life changes among the royals often involve staff leaving, but admittedly three does seem a lot in a short time. No doubt there'll be plenty of others keen to take their place though ...

Paradyning · 19/11/2018 21:01

I really don't like MM's look. I agree she probably need to start wearing mat clothes now for a better cut. And the ribbon halter looks so random!
However, her make-up is immaculate once again. She really is beautiful

MaddieElla · 19/11/2018 21:03

Sorry but this is her worst outfit/hairstyle yet.

Could she be an6 scruffier? And I love a royal outfit. Sad

itswinetime · 19/11/2018 21:04

So just has a look on the website safiyaa made the blue and the white dress from the tour if I'm right definitely a brand I hope Meghan revisits post pregnancy but yes I agree at this point she would be better having maternity clothes as oppose to make normal ones fit.

I'm not sure if Meghan does have a stylist but I think it would be a good investment at least for a few years till she finds her feet fashion wise.

IdaBWells · 19/11/2018 21:05

Queen I hear you about the politics of black hair, but let’s be fair in this case she is deliberately choosing it as I think it’s a style she’s comfortable with and she does have a tendency to repeat looks quite a lot. In her current position she has the money to find a wonderful hairdresser who could do amazing things with her hair. Michelle Obama’s natural hair is coarser than Meghan’s and I know neither women are choosing to wear their hair naturally but Michelle always looked fabulous as FLOTUS and wore her hair in numerous styles.

I just think her hairstyle is a symptom of her trying to hit the right note and mixing what worked for her in the past with her current role. I agree that she could really do with some advice from professionals, only because it is hard to get it right in her role. Catherine still get’s criticism for dressing like a mother of the bride, too formal or too old!

Look at Princess Di, she wore some serious shockers until she grew in confidence and learnt what worked for her role.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 19/11/2018 21:08

Think she’s allowed a dud outfit or two while she finds her way especially while her body is changing shape daily.
