Soho Farmhouse is lovely, I went in the summer, lots of privacy for H&M as no cameras & lots of other famous people & it would be v uncool to bother them.

I thought the red dress with the brooch was the older photo of Kate when she was thinner and she didn’t wear a brooch in the week.

Spudlet · 18/11/2018 08:47

Have just read a review of Soho Farmhouse on Conde Nast Traveller. Blimey it sounds wanky Grin Pretentious? Moi?

www.cntraveller.com/gallery/soho-farmhouse-oxfordshire

Spudlet · 18/11/2018 08:48

Lol x-post! Am willing to accept it may be the rather gushing review that is letting it down Grin

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/11/2018 09:01

At the end of the day; Meghan needs to make some friends somewhere.
She may now be a royal, but I don't see her hanging out with the turnip toffs in Norfolk.
The Sussex "court" at least in private; is going to be worlds apart from the Cambridge one.

AhoyDelBoy · 18/11/2018 09:04

Jeepers Curly how many properties do the RF have!? SoHo Farmhouse looks nice, but not thousands of pounds worth of nice Shock

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/11/2018 09:11

@Ahoydelboy

People with more money that sense pay through the nose for "exclusivity"

Completely unrelated, but wasn't Babington the country place to go to. Is that still around? (I am not fashionable or rich so have no idea)

It is ridiculous how many.homes the royals have. Upkeep ; security. I have always been.a royalist, but being on these threads has made me realise how incredibly privileged they are. With each generation; they seem to do less to deserve it.

I think the end of the monarchy will be caused by apathy. As Prince Harry said; no one wants the top job. People are going to say ; if it's such a hardship, why is anyone even bothering...

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/11/2018 09:19

Bit of a nonsense article in the DM about ''Kate bringing the headband back'

I could write some anodyne rubbish for them. It's quite well paid. I remember Liz Jones saying back in the day she got 4grand for an article. If you have click bait; you get paid!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/11/2018 09:20

And I'm not even a journalist or writer. Just making the point how rubbish the writing is. They just have tons of pics of the Royals from every angle. That's why I.go on to look at the pics!

owlshooting · 18/11/2018 09:25

Actually it's making me feel a bit ill , all this wealth and privilege. Why on earth do they need all these houses ? It seems to me Meghan is living a celeb life now , not a Royal life. I do like to see the photos and drool, but how is there any justification for continuing with the RF? The old argument about it bringing in tourism really doesn't cut it with expenditure on this level.
Send all their art to art galleries for public viewing, turn their houses into Museums or give them to the National Trust and make them do a proper days work.
Rant over.

BigGreenOlives · 18/11/2018 09:26

Curly Babbington & SF are both owned by the same people & part of the Soho House group. See also The Ned in the City, Kettners, Shoreditch House etc etc.

DH thinks they’re wanky & isn’t a member anymore but I keep my membership in defiance. Mine is v cheap, my membership costs the same as it did in 2008 but I don’t have limitless access to Shoreditch & SF.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/11/2018 09:28

I must be the only one who thinks those head bands look ridiculous. The last one looked like she'd stuck a neck pillow on her head!

What were all the stories in the press about during the past few months regarding the refurbishment of the Kensington Palace apartment then? All this stuff about how it was being completely done over at vast expense for H and M ? Looks like it was all made up.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 18/11/2018 09:36

If it's true that the Sussexes would like to have their London base at St James's, what might the reasons for that be? Bit more distance from the family? KP is a bit incestuous in that sense, isn't it? Although perhaps easier than I'm thinking to not bump into everyone constantly.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/11/2018 09:43

The refurbishment at KP is true, there was scaffolding which has now been taken down.
Apparently the Gloucesters whose 3 children have left home had said it's too big. So as Apartment 1 or 1A is next door to Will & Kate it was assumed that it was for the Sussexes.
The St James palace thing could be one of those fake stories put out to find a mole. Who knows. But they are going to have to move somewhere with a new baby.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/11/2018 09:51

I actually don't mind the Anne Boleyn look.
I do think it is a deliberate part of the rebranding to make Kate more regal.
Charles is being very deliberately positioned as the imminent next King.
Within a maximum of 10 years; William and Catherine will be Prince and Princess of Wales.

Royal style & gossip: what do we want? Frock shots! When do we want them? Now!
QueenOfTheAndals · 18/11/2018 10:00

Whoever's in charge of the rebranding didn't finish reading the story of Anne Boleyn! Grin

Babbington house is where DH has meetings/conferences for work. I don’t think it’s always been so trendy.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 18/11/2018 10:27

Been taken to the Ned a couple of times & didn’t rate it at all. But then I’m an old fart Grin

beanaseireann · 18/11/2018 11:55

I dislike the headbands too QueenoftheAndals

Want2bSupermum · 18/11/2018 11:59

The soho house locations are all a bit Confused. It's just not relaxing. I went once and I had people trying to make connections but trying to be coy about it. I thought it was center parcs for aspirational snobs. The DofS has private homes available so why the heck go to the farmhouse?

AhoyDelBoy · 18/11/2018 12:15

I wondered this too. Maybe to make ‘connections’. Doesn’t sound very ‘Royal’ to me.

Clionba · 18/11/2018 12:18

The worst of it is, owlshooting, is that these refurbishments are at public expense. The cost of William and Kate's KP apartment was staggering. Also the refurbishment of St James P apartment for Beatrice and Eugenie. Buckingham Palace, ok, that's a "working Palace" and the centre of monarchy.

Pupsiecola · 18/11/2018 12:20

Love this little clip. I remember watching the interview: the nerves were palpable. I really like what I know of Kate.

queenofarles · 18/11/2018 12:37

I was a bit underwhelmed with soho farmhouse too, very pedlars catalogue.

I actually forgot all about Millie and Meghan Grin whatever happened to that?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/11/2018 12:48

@pupsiecola
So cute. I’ve never seen that clip before.

I guess Meghan is “getting to know” new people.
They’re not all going to work out.
Apparently she got on well with VB.
Behind the dour expression; I’ve always thought Victoria was quite a laugh.
Completely nonroyal related, but I loved this skit VB did for Vogue.
