Kate looks bloody knackered, but 3 small kids will definitely do that to you. She looks terrific though.

I think this poppy thing has gotten out of bloody control - it's competitive poppy wearing now! Mind you, it's from the top down - I think the Queen wearing 5 is absolutely bananas tbh but if she's wearing 5 I'm not blaming Kate for wearing 3.

But it's just becoming a bit OTT, imo. One suffices, surely? If it's chosen to be worn at all?

Clionba · 11/11/2018 16:07

Three small kids isn't making her knackered. While I'm sure that she's hands on as a parent, none the less she has nannies, cleaners, cooks and housekeepers. It's not like the rest of us. She definitely has enough "me" time, and it's unfair to other parents to suggest she's juggling with the same demands.

ElspethFlashman · 11/11/2018 16:08

Less impressed with Camilla who smiled and made some comment to the Queen as if something had amused her

That happens every year, people aren't robots. I remember one year Kate got absolutely blasted cos she a) tossed her hair about too much and b) chatted and laughed with Tim Lawrence who was next to her.

It was probably only a 1 minute exchange but she got a right Daily Mail beating over it.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/11/2018 16:13

Was CPW (competitive poppy wearing) a thing before this year? I mean, I know HM is the monarch and all that, but FIVE???

Queen I agree what sort of mother buys a 13 year old a cake like that. Especially if it would embarrass him. Bit bizarre really. My sons are grown up now but still get a Colin the Caterpillar lol.

user1457017537 · 11/11/2018 16:21

I think people should pay their respects however they like. It doesn’t matter if they are not head to toe in black. I am not a fan of Jeremy Corbyn or his politics but I find it offensive that he is singled out for his choice of grey parka.

SenecaFalls · 11/11/2018 16:23

I have to say that I am glad flower wearing is not a thing in the US for Veterans Day, as we call it here in the US. Plenty of other situations in which people like to suggest they are more patriotic than thou. I can only imagine what CPW would add to the mix.

Re the Remembrance Service in France I loved that Bridget Macron got a smile out of Putin. I love her style. I know France is a Republic but do think she is trés chic.

missclimpson · 11/11/2018 16:27

It isn't the fact that JC wore a grey parka. It is the fact that he instantly gives ammunition to the press. Michael Foot and the donkey jacket was exactly the same scenario.

Horsemad · 11/11/2018 16:30

I shouldn't think for one minute that JC gives a toss if he's giving the meeja ammunition!

ThomasRichard · 11/11/2018 16:31

Just butting in to add to the ‘Kate looked amazing today’ voices. What a beautiful woman she is.

ajandjjmum · 11/11/2018 16:34

JC did remind me of the Michael Foot donkey jacket scenario too. Not only his choice of clothes, but I felt that he looked like he really didn't want to be there - the way he held his poppy wreath looked disrespectful - I know that sounds stupid! Grin

If he really didn't want to be there, he should be honest and upfront about it, and take the inevitable flack.

MartaHallard · 11/11/2018 16:38

Michael Foot and the donkey jacket was exactly the same scenario.

The donkey jacket wasn't the worst of it with MF. He also didn't stand up straight, eyes front. JC did manage that. But I think a black or charcoal overcoat would have been more appropriate wear than an anorak.

"She did look tired, maybe Louis kept her up last night?"

I very much doubt Kate has ever got up in the night for her kids! That's what the nanny is for!

user1457017537 · 11/11/2018 16:57

I agree unless one of the children is unwell I can’t see her up all night either.

Paradyning · 11/11/2018 16:57

Unless she's still breastfeeding overnight? You never know. Stranger things have happened. Maybe Louis was hungry last night.

mmmgoats · 11/11/2018 16:58

Another one dropping in to say Kate looked great. The more I look at the outfit the more I love it, and the hat/hair do looks so stylish. I like to see her with braiding etc in her gorgeous hair - mine's too fine to do anything like that!

I also loved the three women on the balcony. They all looked great.

Kate did look tired - maybe she's unwell. I don't suppose in the royal family you can stay at home with a cold unless you're HM or Phillip when it's a bit more tricky to fight off!

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/11/2018 17:01

There's a service this evening that H&M will attend but not sure if W&K will. I really thought the DoE would be there today, given that it's a cause close to his heart.

I should imagine that they are hooked up to drips if they get a cold or a virus. None of that waiting 3 weeks and see how it goes for them. Yes I am envious. I don’t know about breastfeeding either.

SilentIsla · 11/11/2018 17:02

One poppy is all that is required. Less is more especially on a day such as this.

BlingLoving · 11/11/2018 17:03

I disagree. I think she does nights. We have heard plenty. I know lots of rich people with nannies. Many did get a night Nanny for first 6-12 weeks then they handle themselves except for exceptional circumstances.

Of course, it IS easier for her - if she's up all night someone else turns up at7 and takes over getting older kids up and dressed and fed etc. But doesn't mean she is totally unaware of night time challenges.

itswinetime · 11/11/2018 17:03

So looking back the camillia and Kate have been wearing 3 poppies for a while (pic is 2016). It seems to be the queen who has upped the stakes going to 5 (queen pic is from last year apparently). Anne and Sophie it's seems stick with a sensible 1. Not sure if there is some significance?

But there us more than one nanny and they do shifts. It’s not unusual for one nanny per child.

I too was shocked at the amount of work the housekeeper was expected to do. Surely there would also be a chef, cleaners and domestic staff. One woman couldn’t possibly achieve all that in a day.

SilentIsla · 11/11/2018 17:07

Yes. That jarred.
