owlshooting I agree with you. I’m trying to stay neutral but I’m getting increasingly WTF thoughts about her. The whole cradling her bump thing is winding me up. No one does this so early. What will she be like when she has a massive bump?

Anyway, back to the dresses and tiaras....

owlshooting · 11/11/2018 08:46

It's not that Harry didn't look proud of her, and he probably was relaxed, I just thing it was rude and inappropriate to just walk in with her mother with him trailing behind them.
The bump cradling thing is attention seeking to me too.

Anyone interested in the fashions at the remembrance dinner in France last night? Some gorgeous outfits.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/11/2018 08:49

@owlshooting.

Yes please post some pics

Paradyning · 11/11/2018 08:53

Look at Rania's trendy piercings! Wasn't expecting that. Perhaps to hide her surgical scars.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/11/2018 08:53

I actually thought Harry was a bit inappropriate at that launch event by going in to kiss the woman who greeted them. Definitely a cultural faux pas!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/11/2018 09:00

To be honest, I didn’t see anything untoward about the book launch. I thought Harry looked really relaxed and his usual cheeky self.

Doria & Meghan both turned & waited for him when they got out of the car.

I am still a bit Hmm about Doria being alone at the wedding, but as @Queen said, perhaps they preferred to be anonymous in the main congregation.

The DM is definitely stirring about aides leaving. Meghan’s temporary private secretary Samantha Cohen, has just left as planned after she was asked to stay on an extra 6 months to help Meghan settle in.

I have no idea if the pa, “Melissa” went on tour with Meghan. I would have said it was the stylists job aka Jessica Mulroney to check for labels, knickers ( and pack an iron).

I suspect the next big tour ( with baby Sussex) will have an army of staff.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/11/2018 09:00

*they, meaning Meghan’s maternal family

AhoyDelBoy · 11/11/2018 09:06

a few pics of Sophie if you swipe through I like her dress

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 11/11/2018 09:06

There was so much scrutiny at the wedding. If it was me I’d much prefer to be incognito.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 11/11/2018 09:07

Loved Camilla’s dress.

GrumbleBumble · 11/11/2018 09:11

I know more than one person who outed themselves as pregnant teens by

GrumbleBumble · 11/11/2018 09:12

Oops sorry posted too soon by touching their belly/bump. It isn't necessary a conscious thing.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/11/2018 09:12

Interesting crowd at the French dinner. Very cheered to see the (male) Luxembourg pm bring his husband.

Christine Lagrande, head of the IMF looked fab in purple with a leather skirt. French women just continue to look sexy, whatever their age, and are completely unapologetic about it.

Yay to Queen Rania and her 4 or 5 ear piercings. Nice to see a bit of rebellion in a Queen!

AFifthOfKoolAid · 11/11/2018 09:15

It's fascinating how people are having "alarm bells" about a woman for:

  1. Moving on quickly from a divorce (when a) there is no evidence for this b) none of us know the circumstances of the divorce, what if he was a dick? What if it was totally amicable but they both thought "hm we're both good eggs but marriage was a mistake, let's move on" and c) what is a woman supposed to do? Enter a period of chastity while lamenting her failure to keep a husband?

  2. being confident in an interview. An excited, freshly engaged woman who is used to public speaking and interviews being equal to or more chatty than her fiancé. What a witch. Does she not know that a man must never be dominated? That women are to be seen, and to be immaculate while being seen, but absolutely not heard?

  3. the position of her arms. A thin woman growing a belly must be an unusual experience, and by all accounts she seems thrilled to be having her first baby. Maybe it's protective maternal instinct? If I were being photographed every step I took in public I am sure someone would see a pattern of gestures and could make it into some terrible thing. Pregnant woman touches bump is quite low on my list of crimes.

  4. the order she, her mother and her husband walk in and out of an event. He's a member of the royal family, she is a peasant. DOESN'T SHE KNOW THE PROTOCOLS??? Actually, she was a member of the royal family too by that point, maybe Harry was being old fashioned chivalrous and letting ladies go first? Maybe it's just the random way they assembled themselves? Maybe he wanted her to get the limelight, given that it was her charity project? Maybe he's proud of his new wife and and mum, and thought it entirely right that she and Doria walked side by side rather than being a third wheel to the newlyweds? He's used to these events, Doria is not.

owlshooting · 11/11/2018 09:18

Yes, you may be right there AFifth. However, sometimes you just get a gut instinct, and it may well be wrong!

VanillaSugary · 11/11/2018 09:21

@AhoyDelBoy I've got the Sophie pics to the ready too! https://www.instagram.com/p/BqAwePXAJ0H/?utmsource=igshare_sheet&igshid=1796wvkia2yc0

For the first time ever, we see Edward and Sophie looking lovingly at each other. Awwwwwww.

PS I was forever stroking my bumps. It's a comfort thing.

beanaseireann · 11/11/2018 09:22

Camilla loves her kaftans
Paradyning I think the designer you speak of is Ekaterina Malysheva who married Prince Ernst August.
Now her wedding dress was absolutely beautiful.
He is the step son of Princess Caroline.
Afaik his father ( Caroline's estranged husband) was not at the wedding. His mother Chantal played an important role.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/11/2018 09:23

No fancy designer coats for Anne, she's thrown on her old waterproof instead!

Beautiful Sophie Wessex.

AFifthOfKoolAid · 11/11/2018 09:26

Queen, yes I totally cringed for Harry when he went in to kiss that woman! But he laughed it off, she laughed it off, all was good humoured and it made him appear what he is, human.

I am no royalist at all, and my obsession with these threads (because I like a fancy frock) goes against all my republican sensibilities, but on the whole I have nothing against them as individuals. Meghan is confident, beautiful, seems principled, glamorous, has captured the love of a very eligible man, i don't understand why people are looking for reasons to tear her down. Maybe because she is all those things...

It's not like she's said anything racist, or meddled with the government, or sold access to the royal family to a tabloid journalist posing as a sheikh, or dressed up as a nazi...

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/11/2018 09:26

Just looking at future Royal engagements.
Anne, the wessexes, Kent’s & Gloucesters are posted weeks in advance.

William and Kate are off to Yorkshire on Wednesday. They’re visiting a car factory and centrepoint, so I think it will be a dress down day.

Wednesday is also Prince Charles birthday party.
I wonder if it will be at BP.
Even if it’s a private event, we should see some guests arriving.

Please let them be wearing something other than black.!

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/11/2018 09:27

@beanaseireann Ernst August Sr sounds a total prat. He wasn't at that wedding because he tried to take EA Jr's inheritance back, and had got so drunk at his other son's wedding that he had to be put in an induced coma to recover!

Apparently he and Princess Caroline have been estranged for years but she won't divorce him as she'd then be demoted from a Royal Highness to a Serene Highness! She's never had much luck with love, has she? Nor has her sister, come to think of it.

QueenoftheAndals
'No fancy designer coats for Anne, she's thrown on her old waterproof instead'
My thoughts exactly.

There was a pic of Meghan with rain spotted tights. I thought the poor woman had a rash on her leg. It must have been lashing rain.

Clionba · 11/11/2018 09:30

Yes, QueenOfTheAndals - Anne looked out of the window "cold, rainy and windy - let's get the waterproof with a hood on"! Completely practical!
