And we're now at thread 8! Here are some useful royal style blogs
HRH Duchess Kate
Mad About Meghan
New My Royals - good for European royal watching

Coming up this month:

  • The Cambridges are at the Tusk Conservation Awards on Thursday the 8th
  • The Cambridges and Sussexes are at two Remembrance events this weekend the 10th/11th
  • The Sussexes have the Royal Variety Performance on the 19th

Plus Prince Charles turns 70 on the 14th but we may not get photos of the event as he's having a private party.

Maybe because she is all those things

Probably exactly because she's all those things @AFifthOfKoolAid. It's impossible - she's criticised for having a past, Kate's criticised for being "Waity Katie" - women just can't win!

I love no nonsense Anne.
I can’t remember her exact words but she said years ago she wasn’t going to be a fairytale princess.
I really hope Charlotte grows up to be like her great aunt.

She was great with the photographers at Louis’ christening.
Stern look and “ you’re not coming”

Moononthehill28 · 11/11/2018 09:34

I think Charlotte is going to be a real character...she looks like a little woman already.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/11/2018 09:35

The look on William's face there, he doesn't know whether to be proud or embarrassed!

Anne is brilliant. I’ve only respect for her and HM. The majority of the rest are hangers on and imo a waste of space (and money).

Anne appears to have loads of common sense, doesn’t suffer fools, incredibly hardworking and has done a great job in bringing up two children.

itswinetime · 11/11/2018 09:39

William looks like he is trying his best not laugh in that video!

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/11/2018 09:41

Next time the Cambridges do a Scandinavian trip they'll have to take the kids. Charlotte and Estelle of Sweden might get on famously!

Only if the go in school holidays Queen they may not be able to afford the fine taking George out of school Wink

WindyWednesday · 11/11/2018 10:16

Fee paying schools don’t fine parents. Only government schools do that.

You already pay to be at a public school.

I've only just found this thread (thanks to whoever pointed it out on the thread about Prince Andrew) and I love it!

I've just read it all so apologies that these comments are about things mentioned much earlier.....

Prince Edward - my understanding is that he will become Duke of Edinburgh (as previously announced) not when Prince Philip dies but when both the Queen and Prince Philip are no longer with us.

I've been told by someone 'in the know' that they are hoping that Prince Philip will attend the special remembrance service at Westminster Abbey. He is apparently planning to if he is well enough.

Debo Devonshire (Mitford) - I've met her and she was delightful. An impressive, down to earth woman.

beanaseireann · 11/11/2018 10:28

fredleighton can you link to the other thread or give the thread title, please.

AhoyDelBoy · 11/11/2018 10:32

The ‘other’ thread Smile

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/11/2018 10:36

@fredleighton Welcome! It's a rather eclectic thread, which jumps from Meghan's latest Givenchy to the intricacies of various Letters Patent but we're a friendly bunch!

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the DoE was at today's service as it's something that's very important to him. Plus stiff upper lip/never complain etc - they don't make 'em like that anymore!

beanaseireann · 11/11/2018 10:36

Thank you

Laniakea · 11/11/2018 10:42

fredleighton that's what I thought too - when the DoE dies, Charles will automatically inherit that title (though he probably won't use it). When the Queen dies & Charles becomes king the title will revert to the crown (is that the correct term?) and Charles will be able to award it as he sees fit. I assume that if it was the Queen's intention that Edward would become DoE then Charles will abide by that.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/11/2018 10:54

I can't see Charles begrudging his little brother the DoE title. Edward's always seemed like a bit of an afterthought but he and Sophie have proved themselves two of the hardest working (by royal standards) members of the family in recent years. He's more than made amends for the Royal Knockout debacle! Though how Anne agreed to involve herself in that is a mystery to me...

OP posts:
AhoyDelBoy · 11/11/2018 11:04

I had to google the ‘Royal Knockout’. Oh dear Shock

fredleighton · 11/11/2018 11:07

Laniaka - that's my understanding. When Edward got married the Queen started her wish that he become DofE when the title reverts to the Crown so I would imagine Charles will honour his mother's wish.

onethickpony · 11/11/2018 11:08

Wonder why Megan is standing separately from the other royal ladies

AFifthOfKoolAid · 11/11/2018 11:10

Probably space for the queen and the two future queens.

Paradyning · 11/11/2018 11:10

Wow Kate looks very regal today!

VanillaSugary · 11/11/2018 11:10

You'd think Jeremy Corbyn would have put on clean trousers today Hmm

Paradyning · 11/11/2018 11:11

WindyWednesday · 11/11/2018 11:13

It’s a royal knockout of whatever it was called was a very strange time for the royal family.

I see MM has a bigger poppy today.
