Len that looks lovely.. I do like the effect of keeping the top the same and painting the rest. Thanks for the inspiration! I'm going to have a look in Aldi this weekend for paint.

Glad it all went well cherries - look forward to seeing your coat. I've had my teddy bear coat on this morning, I love it.

More beautiful furniture @len! Its really nice with the "natural" top. I'm inspired - but know how annoyed I got sanding and waxing a chest of drawers (8.5 months pregnant...so probably not the best time to take up a new hobby...) so haven't touched furniture restoration since.

@cherries - glad you went back for the coat in the end - even though it will now forever be your colonoscopy coat Grin. It looks lovely and cosy.

@laskamerylly - it sounds as if your puffa was a brilliant decision in the end! Your outfit sounds grand. Hope your DM (and DF) are feeling better today.

Hope your busy afternoon is OK @Soy - and looking forward to seeing the blouse and dress!

On the Meryl front - I think I have a winner.. the XS grey came and it is still slouchy and big enough around the bum, but much less huge everywhere else. I love it. Phew! Can send the others back now. Turns out that the answer to the question "on which planet is a 12/14 an XS?" is "Planet Hush" - ah well. Of course, it would have been nice to see the XS in a pink too..

Can anyone help with Skechers sizing? I want to order these.. I have quite wide feet and am usually a 6.5 but often have to size up to a 7 for width purposes. But the reviews of these all seem to suggest Skechers are quite a generous fit so I'm wondering if I ought to order a 6.5?

Just a quick check in before next work call (no Hush parcel yet Sad)
@ella my Sketchers are made for wide feet!! True to size, if anything a tiny bit big without socks on but it depends on the style, in any case I’d be very surprised if you need to size up

SoyYo · 08/11/2018 15:51

They look lovely btw, go with your size!

SoyYo · 08/11/2018 15:53

not perfect XS Meryl! Lol at Planet Hush sizing Grin

miffy2 · 08/11/2018 20:36

@Ella can I ask if you decided to keep or return the TS pink jumper? Was the neck very tight? I love a good cowl but hate a tight polo neck. Also what size did you go for and did you size down? Sorry for all the questions but it looked fab on you and I am looking for something similar.

Ellapaella · 08/11/2018 20:40

Hi Miffy I've decided to send it back.. it's a lovely jumper and the neck wasn't tight just very high (right up to my chin) and I just know it would annoy me. It's a very warm jumper - perhaps a little too warm for places where there is central heatings. That's what's put me off.
Size wise I got a 10 and it's generous as it's meant to be oversized but I think I could have sized down with no problems.
I wear foundation most days and I think it might rub off on the high neck.

H & M have a lovely charcoal grey dupe.. I'll see if I can find a link.

Thanks, Ella. I am in two minds. Am peri-menopausal and I also hate fabric around my neck but I also have a grá on me (Irish for love!) for a sloppy pink roll-neck jumper. I have a grey one from H&M and the neck is almost a cowl so I can get away with that, but if I am constantly fussing with the neck it will drive me mad. I would have the same foundation problem as you, too. I have one on the way from Zara to try out and the neck looks loose so fingers crossed.
The burgundy one you posted a pic of is lovely and prompted me to dig out an ancient one I have from Me+Em, in the hopes that I might stretch the neck a bit and wear it this winter.

I tend to layer clothes in work. The classroom I am in is very chilly in the morning, despite the central heating, as the building is over 100 years old! Then I am out on yard duty but ned a coat so have to remove heavy jumpers. Then the classroom is warm by lunchtime so I could get away with a t shirt. Le sigh. FWP and all that :D

Ellapaella · 08/11/2018 20:49

H &M have some lovely knitwear in fact! I wish I hadn't just gone to look as now I'm very tempted by several things..

Thanks @SoyYo btw for your advice on the Skechers.. x

OP posts:

This is a less flattering view of the jumper Miffy - I think it’s in danger of being a bit bulky and shapeless from the side so probably need to size down if I was to keep.

OK, I will pass on the pink TS jumper. I have instead ordered a bunch from H&M (delivery and returns are easy peasy with them). Some lovely stuff, indeed, Ella. i ordered the grey jumper in cream and a beige one as well as the grey in a smaller size to compare (I bought the XL as it was the only one left and planned to change it for a M or L at some stage anyway).

These are my picks:
beige jumper: www2.hm.com/en_ie/productpage.0690618001.html

cream jumper:
www2.hm.com/en_ie/productpage.0663016002.html

and grey! The one I already own in XL:

miffy2 · 08/11/2018 21:06

Sorry what I meant in my garbled post above is that I bought the grey in XL in the shop last week, and hoped to change it for a smaller one. Fingers crossed the Medium is sloppy enough as the Large is OOS.

Ellapaella · 08/11/2018 21:09

Good choices Miffy - a couple of others on this thread have the grey ribbed one and it looks fab.

OP posts:
Huffthepuff · 08/11/2018 21:09

What size are you @miffy2 ? I got the small and it's very oversized (in a nice way I think) I'm a 10

Ellapaella · 08/11/2018 21:13

I've just ordered this https://m2.hm.com/m/en_gb/productpage.0676990003.html
I love the colour and I think it'll look great with coated leggings or skinny's and trainers.

OP posts:
Huffthepuff · 08/11/2018 21:19

@Ellapaella ! Love that! Dear god I need to stop spending money on knitwear though. Hope it's a cold winter so it feels justified 😂

miffy2 · 08/11/2018 21:20

Huff I am 12-14 depending on brand and in H&M I am usually a medium.

Ella that is a gorgeous shade.
