melen adore your painted furniture 😍 and how beautifully it goes with your gray walls and cottage flowers. Thank you for sharing
huff oh my that is one nice poncho and totally bargainous! Would have been rude not to Wink thanks for the comment on glad rags tbh I also wore some low heels in the pic I posted which didn’t do the rest of the outfit justice (comfort seems to win with me too). This year I’ll up my game and wear it with black kitten heels I love and bought from Mint Velvet earlier this year but could not contemplate anything much higher...
laska I see what you mean by the ivy vs the wide top, tbh I prefer you in the ivy so if it was me I’d return...unless your need for sparkle is as great as always! Grin
Now the pink Meryl to me looks perfect on you, just the right level of slouch but yes I’d like to see you in the XS just to compare...

Ellapaella · 07/11/2018 15:15

Ooh @Laska3Meryl well I have to say I think the Meryl looks superb, especially like with your leggings 😍 will have to compare with the XS but I think that looks fine size wise.

@NotAnActualSheep you look fab in all of yours but the pink wins it for me.

@dontcallmelen wow you have such a talent! Those are all amazing..

not agree the cost of the Hush coated jeans seems extortion for what they are, I’m hoping they’ll be in the sale and then I’d grab a pair

Ellapaella · 07/11/2018 15:18

I think I'm going to return the pink jumper..
I just know the neck is going to annoy me and be itchy. There will be too much wool near my eyes and it'll make them itch like crazy. Also it is a very warm jumper so I think when I'm indoors in winter with heating on I will be too hot and sweaty in it.

On the coated jeans issue, river island have some amazing ones for £40. I tried them on in store a while back and am probably going to go back for them. Need to size up though as River Island sizing is minute.

Oh btw I relented and ordered the black shirt, and the Emmanuelle navy blue dress with gold stars which was already low stock or ooo and probably won’t be available in the sale.
I have absolutely no Will power.
I thought the Emmanuelle would be good for casual Xmas get togethers and on the day itself but expecting it to look terrible on me and return...
The shirt if good will keep with labels on in case it’s reduced later this month.

Laska3Meryl · 07/11/2018 15:25

Ooh Len we have a cupboard like that in our Hallway ( but its old polished wood... I could try doing that.. do you use any particular paint? ..

SoyYo · 07/11/2018 15:27

ella wise move if you think you won’t get enough wear, even if you like it. It’s like the scarf I returned, totally lovely but impractical for what I needed...report back on the river island coated skinnies Smile

Laska3Meryl · 07/11/2018 15:29

Hmm.. re Meryl.... It s does feel too big , but ill decide when the other comes , but yes the silver tops ( i got 2 sizes) are packed up to go back !

I also took back the coated leggings , sausage skins it was ! Grin

SoyYo · 07/11/2018 15:29

laska3Meryl not sure what melen uses but I use Annie Sloan chalk paints as you just slap it on without the need to sand/remove varnish or prime. It’s amazing stuff!

SoyYo · 07/11/2018 15:31

laska you’ll have a smiling wallet with all the returns.
Do you mean the hush coated jeans giving you sausage legs?

Laska3Meryl · 07/11/2018 15:34

No the Next ones soy.

Ill definitely look at that paint.. we also have a nice old Hall stand, but i was thinking of getting rid when we decorated , maybe I wont now if I can paint them

SoyYo · 07/11/2018 15:41

Yes laska it is totally worth upcycling with chalk paints it really transforms old tired furniture you are fed up with anyway. Annie Sloan looks expensive to start with but lasts forever, and it is super easy to just slap on, it dries very fast so you can finish a small piece in one day.
I recommend if you buy her paint to get the clear wax (to seal after painting) from her too and the thick wax brush from her website, but don’t bother with the other paintbrushes as normal ones do the job just as well.
There’s lots of videos on YouTube to learn just to get an idea of how to do it and that’s what I did with my first piece, very easy.
Also it is so relaxing you get lost in the painting process so melen is right it is a form of mindfulness

SoyYo · 07/11/2018 15:42

Ah it was the next coated jeans...mmm I don’t think I’ll bother trying then will continue to lust after the real leather hush leggings

dontcallmelen · 07/11/2018 16:10

These are in the dining room, I painted them with Aldi chalk paint Soy is right it’s very easy especially if you are going over dark wood as it doesn’t need undercoat & is easy to work with, definitely need to wax it once dried as it protects the finish, otherwise has a tendency to flake/scratch if you ‘handle’ the furniture a lot.
The stuff I have just completed, I did with a satin eggshell as I wanted something a bit more hardwearing & wipeable.
Thank you everyone for your kind comments, no bugger has even noticed they are a completely different colour😂

@len - your painted furniture looks amazing, and it really suits the style of the rest of your home! There's a place near us that sells similar stuff for £££ - but it sounds like a lovely calming thing to do just for yourself.

@Laska3Meryl You look fab! Nice jumper...Grin The colour is great on you - it really suits your colouring and it seems just the right slouchiness, rather than total swamping Envy. But will be interesting to compare the XS as that may be even better.

I'm NOT ordering a 4th one (XS in pink). That's just silly Smile. Would be typical if that is the one I end up wanting...

I think I prefer the glitter ivy on you too - they are so similar! But pockets...

@ella - Shame about the jumper - it does look amazing on you, but i know what you mean about the neck and the warmth in centrally heated places! I always seem to be cold so its not really an issue for me (plus our home is cold during the day which is where i work, so the more hot and sweaty the better).

@soy - Cunning plan on the shirt and dress re keeping tags on! I'd love to see the shirt with your sequin skirt - I think they will work together really nicely.

dontcallmelen · 07/11/2018 16:55

I’m all confused, can’t keep up with who has what Meryl in what size & what colour😂 yy with Ella though on the itchyness & possible overheating, I think I will go & try on some dupes without the wool content.

dontcallmelen · 07/11/2018 17:01

@Laska3Meryl I would come & do the painting for you, if I lived nearer 😃

Laska3Meryl · 07/11/2018 18:07

This is hall cupboard that wine is not mine,oh no, I have not been to the shop today,no not me

..Jic Soy and Len* fancy an Island painting holiday Grin

Laska3Meryl · 07/11/2018 18:11

with Wine...

dontcallmelen · 07/11/2018 18:37

Haha sounds like my kind of holiday hic 🍷
That cupboard is lovely Laska depends on the finish you want & how much faffing, chalk paint is definitely less faffy but it can be a bit tricky to work with at first & sometimes it goes a bit thick, you can water it down a little though, also definitely needs to waxed once dry.
If you use a satin or eggshell paint, use zinsser 1-2-3 bullseye primer/stain block it gives really good coverage & drys quickly.
I also wax the furniture lightly once dried, when I use eggshell.

SoyYo · 07/11/2018 18:37

I’m up for it laska provided I can help you reduce your wine stocks Wine Grin that chest is perfect for upcycling!

melen more lovely projects! 😍Now I know you’ve tried the Aldi chalk paints to good effect I’ll get some when they next stock in the store, tbh I haven’t done any new painting projects in the last year or so and still have A.Sloan paint leftover but will definitely get some Aldi one next time to compare.

not the cunning plan would only work if Hush decide to do another flash sale/discount before I actually need to wear my purchases or before the returns period expires, and always provided the cheaper replacements were in stock. It’s happened before that I’ve ordered and worn something full price only to see if vastly reduced a couple of weeks later. This way I’m hedging my bets but still putting up the cash upfront a month before I actually need the clothes...(not so clever after all? Hmm)

dontcallmelen · 07/11/2018 18:43

Soy it’s really good stuff & a bargain, I found it easier to work with than AS only problem is you never know when they are going to have it in store, I have run out & really wanted to do the dining room chairs but I doubt they will have any in now till the new year.
