I think ill ask for the North face for Christmas.. or maybe they will have a Black Friday offer.. they never seem to come down in price though..

How strange about the cat Soy I am missing ours so much.. he was a blackie /browny also .. Sad

I'm afraid I holed up last night with curtains shut !
We had incidents of bullying and egg throwing at our old house , when DS was a teenager .. I have to say it has put me off answering the door at night now unless I know who it is .. and i still hate hearing the sound of kids giggling outside at night..

SoyYo · 01/11/2018 12:29

Yes a bit spooky being Halloween and all but also found it comforting.
Yes the 12 is so much better on you laska you look cool with it on and the jeans (and the pink hair!)
Glad you’ve decided to keep it 👌

neveradullmoment99 · 01/11/2018 12:33

Yes, jacket looks much better on you in a 12 @Laska :)

neveradullmoment99 · 01/11/2018 12:34

A very spooky story @soyo. My cat died 2 years ago now. He was old and had cancer in his nose and only had one eye so tbh, it was a blessing when he got put to sleep but i cried because he was my older dc cat.

SoyYo · 01/11/2018 12:34

Sorry to read you’ve got bad memories of past Halloweens...yes teens can get horrid and in previous ones I made it a rule not to hand out treats to anyone over 13. Thankfully we never had obnoxious behaviour from anyone but totally understand how it would upset you even now.

Anyway back to fashion: I’ll report back when my Hush booty arrives, fingers crossed some of it will be keepers and the one I’m hoping will be are the slippers...how sad is that?Hmm
Definitely going down in the fashionista stakes with that little admission Grin

neveradullmoment99 · 01/11/2018 12:37

I still have a tray of cakes, sweets that are the kids, a box of brownies and mini caramel bits. NOT good for the waistline.

SoyYo · 01/11/2018 12:37

Yes never our two were part of the family for 18 years, I still remember bringing those two tiny kittens home when our boys were only 4 and 8 years old. We loved them so...never forgotten.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/11/2018 12:38

I know, they are with you through all you childrens growing up. It is sad.

SoyYo · 01/11/2018 12:38

I’ve put all the sweets in a big glass jar, it’s sitting in the kitchen worktop.
Need to hide it pronto!

neveradullmoment99 · 01/11/2018 12:39

Will you get another cat?
My children all want a cat but i am a bit reluctant. I have had a cat since i was 19 and this is the longest i have gone without having one. I like not having the commitment.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/11/2018 12:39

Ive put mine in a tub. So tempting when a sugar low strikes.

SoyYo · 01/11/2018 12:43

No we won’t get another one never I cannot replace our two who were characters so easily and tbh the last 3 years with the diabetic one it was a huge amount of commitment and also heartache.
Like you I always had pets growing up (cats and dogs) so I adore their gentle company, and miss having it but for now cannot contemplate a replacement.
With time however I may change my mind...

dontcallmelen · 01/11/2018 12:44

Laska that size jacket looks much better, definitely looking a bit pale remember too take care of yourself, not just all the people around you don’t put yourself at the back of the queue 💐

Laska5772 · 01/11/2018 12:54

yes sadly Halloween was just the start of it , DS was being bullied at school and he decided to stand up for himself after the first egg throwing incident , then the house became a target . Pretty much every night,.. it was awful.. Police were not interested as it was mainly eggs being thrown and therefore not considered a weapon..
it was really a major factor in why we moved.. . it took me several years to eat eggs again.. .

So yes, i hate Halloween..
(it was over 10 years ago now ..)

Anyway .. we wont be getting another cat again either..(ive already been offered kittens..but no.. )

Laska5772 · 01/11/2018 12:56

Nothing wrong with slippers Soy I always get Nordikas (slides)which i think are a Spanish make so bound to be good

Laska5772 · 01/11/2018 12:57

Thanks Len I am trying to remember to do that ..

SoyYo · 01/11/2018 13:00

laska what a horrid situation sorry if my black cat tale triggered painful memories.
Totally agree with you and never = not wanting a replacement pet, loved my last 2 too much but also know the commitment is for decades, not to be undertaken lightly.

Anyway drumming fingers here....where is that postman??Wink

Laska5772 · 01/11/2018 13:03

No not you soy I loved your tale.. it must have been nice ( bittersweet nice of course) to have a friendly cat in the house again.. we have next doors cat to talk to.. he has always come round to play but does seem to miss his mate

dontcallmelen · 01/11/2018 13:22

Laska sorry to hear of the bullying experience, horrible for you all.

NotAnActualSheep · 01/11/2018 13:24

@Soy - what a lovely way of thinking about it! But a bit freaky for your cleaner though... It is always sad losing a pet. We lost our DCat last year - she was about 18 so getting on a bit and not a surprise as her kidneys gave up over a few months, and she had been losing loads of weight, but I still miss her coming for a stroke, and "helping" me write on the computer. Sad. DS gave me one of his teddies to cuddle overnight as I was sad, and he hasn't asked for it back yet...

I'd be interested in your opinion on the slippers. I keep getting cheap crap ones and just wearing loads of socks as they don't really keep my feet that warm. I never pay for good ones as i think "they're only slippers", but given I spend most of my time in them at home that seems a totally false economy!

I still think that jacket is ace, @laska, and a much better fit, actually (was difficult to tell from the photo how big the bigger one was!) Take care of yourself Flowers You are having a tough time. Your hair still looks great though - even though it has faded loads.

My Meryl has arrived and it is really nice and snuggly ( bugger ). I love the neck is more like a snood rather than a roll neck, as they annoy me after a while. I'm reserving judgement until the sainsbury's dupe arrives, but I can't see how that will be anything like the quality. And also a photo of the dionne skirt with green top, which totally works. Genius suggestion @never Grin

What a nightmare @Laska. Children can be SO cruel.
We have loads of cats around here. I have had some cheeky ones coming into my house a bit like you @soyo. Your story reminds me of last Christmas when i had got up very early on xmas day and had got myself back to bed after the children had opened their presents. I had the most vivid ever dream of my gran. I was very close to her [despite her saying she would come back and haunt me!] but she has been dead 20 odd years. Anyway, i was in my bed er..sleeping in my dream and saw her sitting by my bedside. I sat up and saw her there and said to her, you shouldnt be here, your dead. She then stroked my head and said your tired, go to sleep now and as soon as i put my head on the pillow i woke up and my heart was racing. I have always thought she came back to tell me something. Maybe it was that my mum had cancer and she would be alright. I still think about it.

SoyYo · 01/11/2018 14:01

My parcel has arrived! (More of that in a moment)
not love the skirt and forest green v neck on you AND the Merryl jumper, I can see clearly now how it’s a slouchy high neck but not at all like a polo neck and looks super soft and cozy...fab!

never yes it was your DGM coming to visit you. When I say I’m a bit of a witch it’s more than tongue in cheek. For years and years my DGM (I was also very close to my maternal grandparents) visited me and chatted to me in my dreams. The last time she was with my GF and they both told me they were doing a trip round the world together, next stop was Japan (they were great travellers but GF never made it to Japan). They were so happy, and that was the last time I had a visit.
DM many many times too after she died, and she gave me plenty of signs she was looking out for me. Last visit was so real i could feel her shape by the side of my bed when I woke up. And I also get “dream visits” before I even know they are dead. My DMIL visited me just before I woke up, half hour later the phone rung it was DSIL to say she’d passed away in the early morning.
It’s happened to me too many times with other people too...

SoyYo · 01/11/2018 14:07

Right the news on the parcel...
First the slippers. Sooooo good, my old Boden ones from last year are shot to bits and I nearly reordered but they were £30 which is ridiculous for velvety slippers with nasty pom-poms (not my vibe) so I thought I’d give Hush a shot and so glad I have! These are beauties and so warm I haven’t taken them off since trying on.
not get them! Totally worth the £60 investment for warm feet while homeworking (I live in an old hard wood floor house) they will be my best new friends!
I got size 38/5 and they are TTS and a bit snug but I have wide feet and they’re luxurious lining which will give over time.
See pic attached
