Beatrice did I think but not Marlborough because she was held back for her dyslexia diagnosis, so they sent her somewhere less pressured, it was Ascot though.

PawneeParksDept · 27/10/2018 22:32

X post. I did think Beatrice boarded, but happy to stand corrected.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/10/2018 22:34

I am late to the party about thi Khaki dress, but I think it is absolutely horrid. She looks terrible in all those sludgy greens she wears; olive, khaki, even the forest green is meh.
She should be wearing jewel; clear colours with her colouring.
Emerald green; Apple green.

Shape of dress is awful. She was pretty straight up and down prior to her pregnancy, now that her waist has disappeared; she should be doing the ties belt thing with a full, skirt or peplum.

FWIW, I love the shoes and she has the legs for them.
However they do not go at all with the dress.

The worst thing about that dress was that it blended in with the background. Not good if you're onstage giving a speech!

We went to snoop round a very famous school with DS as our cover. The boy who guided us round the boarding house said that he'd started boarding when he was 5. He also went on to say that his parents didn't love him (as a joke to some other boys, but many a true word, heh?)That's left a legacy, hasn't it?

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/10/2018 22:40

Certainly my cousins who boarded from 4 had issues with their mother well into adulthood.

I love the dress and hate the shoes! The shoes are too formal for a casual dress like that. The dress is crying out for LK Bennett wedges a la Kate!

Cornwall73 · 27/10/2018 22:45

George’s current school goes through to 13 and Eton starts at 13 so I think that will be his route. I doubt Kate will let her kids board young.

AdaColeman · 27/10/2018 22:46

The shoes are awful! Apparently she wears oversized shoes in case her feet swell over the hours of long events.

mathanxiety · 27/10/2018 23:19

Charles needed an uncomplicated mother figure who would indulge him and tell him how wonderful he is all the time. Someone non threatening, jolly and fun.

Camilla....

Agree the Queen is looking very weary.

My parents both boarded (in Ireland) as did all their siblings. Only one of my uncles sent his children to board. One of my much older cousins sent his sons to board too. This is out of eight uncles/aunts in my mum's family and eleven in dad's and between 60 and 70 first cousins. Dad never held back about his hatred of the school he went to.

mathanxiety · 27/10/2018 23:21

I love the colour of the halter dress and think the muted colours suit her down to the ground, and the forest green too.

The dress itself I am not keen on. Is it a shirt dress? Is it a halter? It needs to make up its mind imo.

MonteCarla · 28/10/2018 00:06

I think this is the reason for the oversize shoes.

I think it's a dead cert that George and Louis will to Eton and Charlotte Marlborough

What's less obvious is what Harry will do. Hated Eton and has said so publicly.

And never would have gone if Diana hadn't died.

Fairly sure they were told to seek "posh but dim" schools. (Or something more practical like Gordonstoun) and exceptions were only made for the tragic circumstances to keep both together.

Jlynhope · 28/10/2018 00:30

My mom has trouble with shoes also due to her bunions. It's hard to find nice shoes.

AhoyDelBoy · 28/10/2018 00:38

Curly interesting!
I can’t believe W&H only had 90 days a year to divide between two parents. They never saw their parents! How sad.

A bit meh about the green dress and don’t like the shoes. The dress looks cheap IMO because of the crinkled looking skirt.

Bring on the NZ leg of the tour! Smile

theboxofdelights · 28/10/2018 02:31

I think the dress is horrid, drab, doesn’t fit, has clearly been pinned to preserve modesty! Creased, shapeless and cheap looking. Nothing to like for me, I dint like the shoes either!

But I’d missed an outfit in the interim. A beautiful burgundy number, she looks stunning. I wish we’d seen more hits (like this) than misses. madaboutmeghan.blogspot.com/2018/10/first-look-sussexes-depart-sydney.html?m=1

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 28/10/2018 04:41

Thanks for that link @AhoyDelBoy

The berry dress is stunning. Looks better on her than the model.
Absolutely perfect on her. I haven’t seen her in that shade since the Invictus Games in Toronto; a mere year ago.

I still like her nude ankle strap she. How she can wear them with the spindly heel is beyond me!

Quantumblue · 28/10/2018 04:49

I don't much like the fit of the berry dress though great colour for her.
I thought w and H didn't board until Eton.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 28/10/2018 04:49

Arrival in New Zealand. Apparently she is wearing a Kiwi designed trench coat, and ASOS maternity dress! Yay to maternity wear & high street prices.
I wonder if she ordered more maternity clothes during the trip and had them delivered to Sydney?

Harry & Meghan are going to have such Brownie points when they arrive back in Blighty. It has been an incredibly successful tour.

@Quantumblue

They boarded at Ludgrove when they were 8.
There is a school of thought that boarding provides more stability.
William invited his Eton housemaster & wife to his wedding.

DM article extract from Penny Junor’s 2012 book about William

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 28/10/2018 04:58
  • boarding provides stability when parents are going through an acrimonious divorce.
CurlyWurlyTwirly · 28/10/2018 05:00

I thought the fit of the berry dress on the top half is not good, simply because she is short bodied. This is a recurring theme for Meghan.
She seems to have really grown in the bosom department.

Still really like the dress though

Clionba · 28/10/2018 05:23

I don't like the Invictus Games speech dress, sludge colour and not a great shape. She looks good in muted tones, but not this. She's looked lovely in white, blue and berry colours imo.
Her poor feet! She has very long toes which always create problems.
