The green stripy dress is not very nice, I can't imagine it suiting anyone.
Not sure why MM is trying to squeeze into these belted
(and sometimes quite fitted) dresses.

She would have looked (and I imagine) felt much better in looser A-line dresses. Even some off the rack maternity labels would have worked. Odd that she wore the looser - and more appropriate cut - coat to Eugenie"s wedding when she wasn't showing that much......

Have to say Harry is looking quite shattered in some of the pics.

VanillaSugary · 26/10/2018 08:23

Morning!

I, for one, am going to applaud Meghan for turning up, dressed, heeled, smiling and not having her head in a bucket when she's in 31 degrees and 95% humidity. The girl deserves a bloody medal.

We all said that the Itinerary for this tour was going to be gruelling before it was announced that Meghan was pregnant. I salute that woman for continuing and not crying off. She's an absolute star and is going to be one of our hardest working Royals. Good for her!!!

although I didn't like the stripey dress either

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/10/2018 08:34

You're right @VanillaSugary, I think she's handling it all like a pro. She started taking part in royal engagements as soon as they announced their engagement and I can't recall any previous royal fiancée taking on so much. She's been involved in the launch of the Grenfell cookbook and played a key role at the launch event, and her speech on women's education earlier in the week was very well delivered too.

She's no doubt still finding her feet but when you consider how much her life has changed in the past year, she's doing incredibly well.

Well said @VanillaSugary and I agree 110%. She’s doing a great job!

BlingLoving · 26/10/2018 08:39

The stripe dress was a disaster! But the blue one was nice. But she's going to have to wait to proper pregnancy styles if she wants yo do belts - it looked a bit silly sitting above the bump. I think she likes to wear things around the waist to give her more of a silhouette but she'll need to shift her style when pregnant.

I suspect neither she nor her team expected such rapid changes, hence less good.clothes now. And to be honest, her bump hardly shows, it's more just the thickened waist and bum/breast growth but that hugely impacts her usual style.

BlingLoving · 26/10/2018 08:40

For the record, even before pregnancy news I thought this tour was pretty intense. She's done amazingly well to manage while pregnant and still smiling.

thatone · 26/10/2018 08:46

I wonder if she's choosing very covered up styles for protection.

It is a gruelling schedule but I presume that PH and MM they had some say in the itinerary....possibly it was all decided before she was pregnant though.

CoachBombay · 26/10/2018 08:47

I know everyone moans generally when someone says "I feel sorry for her" but I'm going to say it lol I do feel for her.

Like many of you have said 2018 has been an absolute whirlwind for her. She's moved countries, got married in to one of the most famous families on earth, is now pregnant, having to travel to the other side of the world in early pregnancy and be the utmost hostess with the mostess on a daily basis.

I hope she gets time to relax when she gets home and shy away for a bit. Harry is clearly very protective of her so I'm sure he will make sure that happens.

Style side, I love the blue dress, it's very similar to my style though so that's probably why haha. I'm 5ft2 massively big norks (my own fault, I paid for them) and have a size 12 hourglass figure.

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/10/2018 08:51

The sky-blue of that dress really suits her. You can see from photos of a model in it that the waist is meant to be tied lower, and there's also a thigh-high slit that's been sewn up.

I would think that due to the Zika, she has been told to cover up.
You know, I guess Royal women have impossible standards of perfection to live up to.
All famous people are intensely scrutinized in the internet age (imagine what we would have found out about Diana many years ago if people had cellphones).

For Royals like Meghan & Kate, they are expected to look like models and also have the diplomatic skills.

I think despite the odd wardrobe malfunctions; this trip has been a huge success. Meghan and Harry have been extremely professional.
I think in planning the timing of the tour, they probably didn't expect her to fall pregnant quite so soon.

It seems like they try & fit in Commonwealth tours every four years or so. I think in future given that the Cambridges and the Sussexes have young families, perhaps they can split up the tours into 10 day chunks.

Given Harry is commonwealth youth ambassador; he & Meghan will be due to do lots of travelling. Before this baby starts school they will probably take it along on a few more tours.

frugalkitty · 26/10/2018 09:02

I agree that Meghan is short waisted and belts don't do her any favours. I'm the opposite and it's a nightmare at times (even with dressing gowns!) because the belt doesn't sit in the right place, it's too high. But if you're having clothes made for you this shouldn't be a problem. I didn't like the stripey dress but I really liked the blue one. I don't like all the round necks she's been in but as I posted before, that could be because I hate them on me.

vanilla summed it all up nicely, she's coping very well with everything that's been thrown at her this year, Mail says today that her father is looking into legal action for access to the baby.......sorry, but that man is awful!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 26/10/2018 09:08

So they have the Invictus games closing ceremony tonight. Then 4 days in New Zealand

I think NZ will be a relaxing end to the tour. They're doing lots of eco things and it's such a beautiful country.

keiratwiceknightly · 26/10/2018 09:09

I'm short waisted and big busted though thankfully reasonably tall and it's a hard combination to dress. I've had a lot longer to get used to it than Meghan! I think she is doing brilliantly as pp have said. What a whirlwind - and she keeps going and she keeps smiling.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 26/10/2018 09:10

Yes Apparently her father has contacted the Archbishop of Canterbury. Wtaf?!
Her Father's family are nuts!

eaglefly · 26/10/2018 09:15

I have to say I have become more of a MM fan over the last few weeks more so because she hasnt got it right all the time. As a woman and a human being she has had a huge amount of change to cope with and I think she is handling it pretty well. The not getting it completely right shows even more that it's not easy to get it right. But she has kept going.
You need a close circle of the right advisors and supporters who will get you through this too. But yes I can imagine all she wants to do right now is curl up on a sofa somewhere or sleep in.

itswinetime · 26/10/2018 09:31

Like the sky blue colour not 100% sure on the style but not the worse.

Agree Meghan has done very well on this tour. Its a lot to take on board loads of rules and regulations especially when she is so knew to royal life. Some of those crowd scenes were intense. And that's not to
Mention tiredness Jet lad heat ect, ect. And while I'm not a fan of all of her outfits there hasn't been any disastrous outfits i just hope going forward she gets some better staff mainly so I can live my style dreams through her Wink

TeamRocket · 26/10/2018 09:33

I kind of liked the stripy dress although it would have looked a million miles better as an open neck/v neck.

Agree with PP about her changing body shape and things just not fitting the way they should. I guess she's in that really awkward stage where you're normal size doesn't fit, but neither does maternity wear so nothing looks right-which has come at absolutely the wrong time for her!

mmmgoats · 26/10/2018 09:39

i agree @eaglefly. Even though it shouldn't happen due to advisors, it makes her seem more human and accessible somehow I don't think I've explained that well, haven't had a coffee yet!

I think she's doing a fantastic job. Everyone says she's perfecting 'acting' out this role so is phony, but I think we would all do the same in her shoes - what else is she supposed to? She's fallen back on what she knows to get through a strange, new, intense experience. And I actually think she's come across quite naturally when in one to one situations with people who have come to meet them.

Prefer the blue dress to the stripes. I agree with a PP who said the style is probably lead by a need for protection and to cover up due to Zika. Maybe with the heat she wanted things a little more loose fitting as well, not clinging to her [royals aren't allowed sweat patches!].

I'm looking forward to the NZ part of the tour. I know they'll be glad when it's over but I'm going to be a bit sad when there's no daily outfit to discuss on here!

mmmgoats · 26/10/2018 09:40

Forgot to add, if I looked as good as she does in some of her 'fail' outfits, I would be very happy indeed Grin Even the stripy one haha.

VanillaSugary · 26/10/2018 09:58

Thomas Markle will be saying "Don't mess with the Markles "

He's forgotten who he's dealing with "Don't be a wanker to the Windsors" says Queenie. And she's right. She's got access to the best legal brains in the world ... what's that?...... a Queen's Council, you say?.... plus enough money to bleed Thomas dry and for once I say "Rock it, Maj!"

Even if he succeeds, I'm sure the Royal Nanny will make him feel most welcome

CoachBombay · 26/10/2018 10:02

I think MM's father should take note from history to see what happens to people who "mess with the RF".

He will find himself being driven round in a private car at high speeds otherwise....

AhoyDelBoy · 26/10/2018 10:09

Ohhhh Coach I suspect some kind of inference there..

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 26/10/2018 10:20

Completely agree, her little deviations from perfection have made Meg more accessible.
Yet her determination to continue with a smile on her face has won my respect.

CoachBombay · 26/10/2018 10:21

Ahoy I'm if the feeling they didn't orchestrate or demand it, but they didn't help prevent it either.

I've no reason to believe that a grandmother and father would want 2 young boys to be motherless.

I just think in the media hype build up of her life they could have objected more to her being followed and stalked.

I do feel the RF have learnt form their mistakes, and I think it's evident in the treatment of Kate and MM thankfully. They've both had, especially Kate a more gentle introduction to the media attention and global phenomenon.

LimpyLampy · 26/10/2018 10:24

MM’s father is making tabloid headlines again I see. The Markles don’t seem to realise that every time they do this, it reinforces her and the RF’s decision to cut them off was not just the right but the only thing to do.
