Harry & Meghan have arrived in Sydney.
The purple folders coordinating with her coat will not slow down speculation...

I love the folders

Me too. Finally something Meg is sporting that I can afford. I'm off to the office supply store to stick up on purple folders and binders.

Spudlet · 15/10/2018 14:46

[smug] I have one already #fashionforward #Meganiscopyingme Grin

Clionba · 15/10/2018 14:53

Spudlet - agreed, I certainly hope there isn't a "post partum parade" - it's really not necessary.

VanillaSugary · 15/10/2018 14:55

I expect the host countries' caterers are busy throwing away the soft cheese, lobsters and chocolate mousse in a blind panic.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 15/10/2018 15:02

Maybe they could start a new tradition of releasing one nice family photo once the baby is born, and skipping the charade on the hospital steps.

It’s the 21st Century equivalent of the royal births having to be witnessed.

Spudlet · 15/10/2018 15:05

That would be far better all round, I think. No need for a tired, brand new mother to get glammed up and stand in heels, and no need to haul a little newborn baby into the wind and weather. A lovely picture of the new little family at home a few days later would be just as nice for the media and I'm sure a far nicer experience all round for the picture's subjects.

itswinetime · 15/10/2018 15:13

I think the Sussex's would love to skip the post birth circus if they can! I don't think there is as much tradition as with the Cambridge's kids so they may be lucky even if there isn't such a formal presentation though, they will be lucky to keep it all secret from the public and press so I imagine there will still be something and while I hope Meghan fells comfortable to appear to the world in the more practical yoga pants ensemble, If it was me I get wanting the war paint and good blow dry for pictures that will be everywhere!

I also think it is very bad of the press to make out like they tried to ruin Eugenie's day that is not what the statement said at all I'm sure everyone close to them knew and now will 850 guests plus all the speculation and the tour they had to confirm it really.

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/10/2018 15:28

Totally agree with your last para @itswinetime. Especially as the Palace release makes no mention of when they broke the news. It seems that the royal reporter from the Mail was the first to say it was done at the wedding and everyone has decided that must be true and Meghan (though no mention of Harry, funny that...) is a thunder-stealer.

Anyway, Eugenie had 3 days of wedding celebrations so I doubt she feels hard done by. Maybe her father does, but with his interview comments about "the other wedding" and "Eugenie and Jack have more friends" it would be no less than he deserves!

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 15/10/2018 15:33

Imagine the MN Points she'd get if she stood out the front of the Lindo Wing wearing maternity leggings and uggs Grin

Horsemad · 15/10/2018 18:03

Nice news 🙂

PawneeParksDept · 15/10/2018 18:08

Pippa has apparently entered The Lindo in the last hour or two.

Gosh she did well to make it to the wedding

TipseyTorvey · 15/10/2018 18:33

Good grief. Just back on after work and it's all going on! Hope Meghan isn't feeling too sick but looking forward to seeing how to dress a noticeable belly well given mine never went away after the second c section.

Jackietheduck · 15/10/2018 18:50

I am excited to see what M and H’s baby will look like. Meghan is so beautiful and they both have lovely smiles.

brizzledrizzle · 15/10/2018 18:54

I wonder if Pippa will do a birth photo, royal family style, on the steps.

Jackietheduck · 15/10/2018 19:21

Surely not Brizxled but I’d say the paps will be there to get a photo of her leaving. Though if she leaves by that exit, it is totally for publicity as I understand there are other private entry and exit points.

legolammb · 15/10/2018 19:29

Delighted for them! I hope the tour isn't too exhausting for her. Being of similar heritage to Meghan I'm very excited to see a mixed race royal baby as well

Clionba · 15/10/2018 19:38

Believe me, you can leave that hospital without being seen or photographed. You can get a car right up to another exit.

nether · 15/10/2018 19:39

If you want to leave the Lindo Wing discreetly, it's totally possible as there is a bridge over to the main building of St Mary's, and loads of ways in and out from there.

Or just don't tell anyone when you're leaving and nip out when not many people are hanging round.

SenecaFalls · 15/10/2018 19:49

I think that baby display with mother all coiffed and perfect started with Diana, so it's not a particularly long-standing tradition. Before that royal babies were born at home (although I think Princess Anne had hers in hospital) and it was usually the baptism when they were first seen in photos. I agree Meghan should just come out, hair in a pony tail, no make-up, in comfy clothes, if she is seen at all.

Clionba · 15/10/2018 19:51

That's true, it was never a thing before Diana. Anne certainly wasn't coiffed!

YearOfYouRemember · 15/10/2018 19:58

Joining in.

Two babies on one thread!!

Clionba · 15/10/2018 20:01

I had my son at the Portland at the same time that Sarah Chatto had Samuel! (we never met Sad) I seem to remember she left not very glam or dressed up!

SenecaFalls · 15/10/2018 20:06

Anne certainly wasn't coiffed! No, indeed.

Enty called it last week.

kooshbin · 15/10/2018 20:35

I recall, vaguely, that when Princess Anne left the hospital after having Peter, it was back in the days when we didn’t have baby seats in the car. So she got into the front passenger seat (Mark Phillips driving) with the baby in her arms. She did get criticised for that, with people saying she should have sat in the back. So when she left the hospital with Zara, she handed the baby to the nanny who was sitting in the back, and got in the front passenger seat next to Mark and off they drove!
