GinandGingerBeer · 07/10/2018 10:09

Any luck with the Glastonbury tickets @EachandEveryone ?
No luck here, one of our party of 40 odd people who were trying got through but that's all.
We shall be doing Shambala and bearded theory instead. Smile

Ladies advice please..
I'm away with work at a conference next two days (excited, haven't gone away with work for years due to DC being small).
I need to pack very little so trying to do two outfits I can transition from day to evening (smart causal then dinner in quite nice restaurants in evening).
Zebra skirt with biker boots on day 1 then a change of boots for first evening, quite happy with this.
But second day this is my new blouse, got the evening bit sorted but what can I wear on my bottom half during the day to make it more casual? Plain black trousers? Black ankle grazers? And then what on my feet? I don't have any flat shoes except trainers and my beige pointy flats.
Also those of you who attend work things regularly in hotels is it likely to be quite hot inside the hotel? Don't want to roast in a jumper all day!

Where is the conference @Ellapaella ? The outfit looks fab, but if indoors all day you might get hot in the jumper. Do you have a plain or dark tee for layering?

I'm flying off to Switzerland (Lausanne) later for one night. Am planning on leather trousers jumper and trainers for travel - ankle boots, leather trousers, black flock star tee and blazer for client part

SoyYo · 07/10/2018 12:10

Hi ella i think zebra skirt outfit fab, to be on safe side re heating also take a plain black lighter long sleeve t shirt/top? If the jumper is lightweight you should be okay but that gives you the flexibility to quickly change if not. I love the shirt and colour, if you have navy blue slim trousers you could wear it tucked in with the ankle boots you’ll be wearing with the skirt the night before (saves packing too many shoes) but ankle length black trousers will work just as well.

EachandEveryone · 07/10/2018 13:15

Yes we got the tickets thanks, I have to travel very light to that one though. I’m kind of dreading it and excited.

I love all those looks but I agree a T-shirt kind of too have you any of those H&M basic ones? Mind you I’m not sure how they travel.

Ellapaella · 07/10/2018 13:19

Thanks both. No navy trousers but have black ankle grazers so will take them.
@missfliss no where as exotic as Switzerland.. I'm going to Birmingham! Grin

Ellapaella · 07/10/2018 13:19

Yes I've got a a plain v neck t shirt that I will take as well. I'm worried it'll be stuffy and hot in the hotel during the day.

SoyYo · 07/10/2018 13:40

ella yes best to be prepared it’s hit and miss on the heating front at hotels, if you’re staying at the same hotel the conference takes place then you can always dash to your room and change but if not carry it with you...btw the shoes you were wearing with the leather leggings were also nice and would go with any of the outfits

I’ve got to start thinking of my 3 days at massive trade fair in Madrid (I have to pack tomorrow eve off at crack of dawn Tuesday) but I’m in denial of work travel looming...I’m so fed up with it! And week after Paris. Not at all glamorous just one long slog...I’ve been at it for so many years now it’s like Groundhog Day for me. Jaded by the sheer effort, bloody airports/Eurostar. And yet once I’m there I’m okay, I think basically it takes its toll physically and I do feel my age when I’m travelling a lot.

BTW loving all the pics recently posted 😍

Ellapaella · 07/10/2018 14:00

@SoyYo do you mind me asking what it is you do? It sounds very busy with a lot of jet setting! I'm intrigued.

SoyYo · 07/10/2018 14:45

Hi ella i works for a French multinational in global procurement. Which means category management and strategic supplier management. But some people recently joked being a buyer and spending money is a woman’s dream job Grin (trust me it’s not like that at all! Hmm)

SoyYo · 07/10/2018 14:46

work not works 🤣 I know English is not my native language but come on iPhone Confused

SoyYo · 07/10/2018 14:57

I just checked the weather forecast for Madrid: 22C/24C so back to sunshine and light jackets. That I am looking forward to! 😎 I think I’ll take my Bryce culottes/Fitzgerald jacket for day 1, day 2 Fitzgerald with silk blouse/navy blue trousers, day 3 one of my jersey dresses, and I have a big dinner Wed eve where I’ll give the snake print Marina its first outing with a whisper light black v neck wool top as it’ll be cooler in the evening.
I’ll take orange pointy flats from S/S and these black shoes I got from Pikolinos sale last month as ankle boots will be too heavy/warm.

missfliss · 07/10/2018 16:10

Ooh @SoyYo I'm trying to guess which multinational!
I don't travel that much for work - used to do long stints in US a few times a year which I didn't love. My new job will probably involve a fair few short overnights in Europe which I prefer l

SoyYo · 07/10/2018 16:33

Yes miss sorry I can’t say but in my previous job I used to go to Boston 4/5 times a year tops, the US multinational I worked merged with the FR multinational around 7 years ago and since most of my frequent travel is within Europe too (except this year I also got a long trip to Buenos Aires and another long one to New Jersey on top of the frequent trips over to Paris). The only advantage of long haul is we get business class whereas short haul is economy.
Tbh the Eurostar to Paris is not too bad, much much better than flying and hanging around airports. I’m okay once I’m there but I did do rather a lot a few years back as I had a lot of my team scattered all around Europe, and after so many years at it it’s lost the appeal...and the weeks I travel are very long and tiring days trying to cram in too many people/meetings...anyway mustn’t grumble, it pays for my clothes habit but I don’t think I can do it for much longer than another 2/3 years as it’s physically very tiring.
With my last job change to global I really should have moved to Paris but with modern tech and remote working I’ve managed okay UK based.

SoyYo · 07/10/2018 16:40

BTW miss you look fab in all your purchases and like the others really like the bee necklace. Great haul!

Sonotkylie · 07/10/2018 16:57

Lurky person here. Just to say to those of you lusting after the Bedale trainers, that i dithered about them for ages and finally decided they were more than I wanted to spend. So I bought the black leather Stan Smiths for half the price and they are lovely. Very plain, slightly retro. No stars or white sole or the funkier stuff but might be worth a look and probably offers available on them (La Redoute for example)

Sonotkylie · 07/10/2018 16:58

Oh and PS, thanks for all the advice over the last threads!

Laska5772 · 07/10/2018 17:12

I've been at the Dye again !! I decided that my grey /black amies were still too light and that my puff sleeve grey sweat dress was still showing the fade mark.. so I bought a Dylon intense black dye and then put the dress and Amies in along with my Grey harems (which ive never really liked the grey shade of) a pair of faded black jeggings ( sorry soy) ad an H&M mini which had also faded all in together with just the one pot of dye.. Experimenting again by putting in far more clothes than the instructions said would dye intense black ,as actually wanted to s achieve charcoal on the Amies and the dress ..

looks like a good result ! have come out definitely charcoal and no sign of the fade mark on the dress , the harems are a much better shade of grey, and the black things look freshened up.. hoping once its all dried it will still look good ,

Ellapaella · 07/10/2018 17:27

After much deliberation this afternoon I went to the shops and bought some dark burgundy patent brogues to wear with a pair of slim leg black ankle grazers trousers.
I have a lovely silky grey top to wear with them if it's hot and will pair with a fine knit black or grey jumper if not.
All sorted.
Still going to take my zebra skirt and rusty blouse for the evenings.

neveradullmoment99 · 07/10/2018 17:29

@Laska, you seem to be becoming a bit of a dylon expert! Grin
I kept my beadle trainers. They felt a little neat on my left foot but after wearing to break in, they are fine. The stan smiths look great though but I would have constantly wanted the beadle ones and would have ended up buying them [ I know what im like] Too offset the cost, I am ebaying things. Have sorted stuff into a bundle so hopefully make enough to pay for some of the trainers. I reckoned that I would have lost the £20 discount or have had to wait ages for an exchange so ended up keeping them. Plan to wear them to work tomorrow too!!

Ellapaella · 07/10/2018 17:30

These.
Can’t remmber who but I’m sure someone else on the thread bought a similar pair last week?
Totally different for me but I really like them.

neveradullmoment99 · 07/10/2018 17:30

@Ella, that outfit sounds lovely. Really like you in the zebra skirt. Feel sad about returning mine. I suppose if they reduce in the sale I may just purchase it again. I suppose I could hem it.

neveradullmoment99 · 07/10/2018 17:31

They are lovely. Cherries got them? I think they are from New look?

dontcallmelen · 07/10/2018 17:43

Just trying to catch up, everyone looks really amazing in the pictures loving all the outfits.
