It will be an emotional day for Fergie ie seeing her daughter getting married —and being a VIP for the day— so I hope the press cut her some slack.

fleuriepeninsula · 06/10/2018 02:09

I think Euj is going to turn up in something similar to what Geri Hallwell wore for her big white wedding (Phillippa Lepley). I don’t see her going fashion forward.

mathanxiety · 06/10/2018 03:23

It will be 3.25 am for me, and that is a wee bit too early even for a Royal wedding Wink so I think I'll skip it and rely on the comments here for the inside track, and hopefully I'll be able to steal a glance at my phone occasionally.

I love the fond vert too, Dontfeellikeamillenial. I think Fergie would look fantastic in that shade of green.

Jackietheduck · 06/10/2018 12:29

I also don’t think she will go for fashion forward either. She will go for the all out princess look I reckon. She would look great in a 1960s style. She is an interesting looking woman. More handsome than beautiful if that makes sense? I like that as she is memorable.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/10/2018 12:34

Yes, "handsome" is the right word. Princess Anne was also handsome as a young woman, even though she wasn't conventionally attractive.

I just hope Eugenie doesn't go for a high-necked dress as they can look matronly on the large of bosom.

Btw, I was doing some shopping the other day and spotted many a boat-necked jumper - the Meghan effect?

OP posts:
Jackietheduck · 06/10/2018 12:45

The high necks don’t do any of us with bigger busts any favours. They tend to create a shelf which is not attractive!

I’d automatically assume that her bridal stylist(s) will advise her but I’d be surprised if many have advised her the same before now. They can’t all be people pleasers surely. She must not listen or take on board the advice.

ChicagoLil · 06/10/2018 14:18

Anne as a beauty

Some of her younger photos are stunning.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 06/10/2018 14:38

Princess Anne had a high necked medieval style dress, which has actually stood the test of time. I wonder if Lindka Cierach will make Eugenie's dress?

Ktay · 06/10/2018 15:00

Jack n Eug are looking great on the Telegraph mobile site right now 👍

I remember Princess Anne's dress, she looked lovely. We got the day off school to watch the wedding. It was an awful November day, power cuts, strikes and shortages. It was a beacon in the gloom.

SenecaFalls · 06/10/2018 15:48

This is true in the US as well. Lots of boat necks out there. I'm very pleased because it's my favorite neckline to wear.

Princess Anne's wedding was also my first live royal wedding viewing. I remember getting up very early for that one, too.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/10/2018 16:04

Princess Anne's wedding was before my time but I remember watching Charles and Di's. And getting the day off school to watch Andrew and Fergie's! By the time Edward and Sophie's came around it wasn't just exciting but I think I watched it anyway. She used to look like Diana but apparently Diana didn't like the resemblance being pointed out as she considered Sophie rather ordinary-looking!

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 06/10/2018 16:19

wasn't as exciting

OP posts:
Clionba · 06/10/2018 16:45

Yes, Diana wasn't particularly welcoming to Sophie, which is a shame. I remember there was a shortage of sugar at the time of Anne's wedding, and my mum managed to get some and make a cake! We had tea and cake in front of the fire, watching the wedding. It was like a fairytale after all the power cuts, doing homework by candlelight and washing in cold water!! Quite the tonic.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/10/2018 16:57

Anne's dress hasn't dated as much as Diana's or Fergie's. Nor has Princess Margaret's, come to think of it. I suspect Kate and Meghan's dresses will be the same.

OP posts:
Clionba · 06/10/2018 17:22

Yes, at the time, we thought Diana's dress was fabulous, but it really has dated. I agree about the others being classics. My all time favourite is Princess Margaret's. I'm personally not keen on Kate's, just because I don't like dresses with cups, but I know others really loved it.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/10/2018 17:40

I wasn't keen on the visible cups either @Clionba but the lace bodice and sleeves were pretty. You'd think Sarah Burton would've been able to disguise the cups better but maybe it was what Kate wanted.

I thought Meghan's dress was lovely and harked back to the timelessness of Princess Margaret's dress. And the simplicity was the perfect foil for the intricate embroidery on her veil.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 06/10/2018 17:42

My favourite royal wedding dress is still Sarah Chatto's though.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 06/10/2018 17:47

Maxima's wedding dress was surprisingly understated when compared to the attire she Sports these days. Not a giant sleeve in sight!

OP posts:
Clionba · 06/10/2018 17:50

Oh yes, Sarah Chatto's was so elegant. I like the way she got married in a smaller church, she had the option of St George's.
Meghan's gossamer veil was divine.

owlshooting · 06/10/2018 17:58

i honestly couldn't care less about this wedding. I am just not interested in Eugenie.

OlennasWimple · 06/10/2018 18:05

I'd not seen Maxima's wedding dress before - it's lovely! (Valentino...oh to have got married in a Valentino dress....)

Not keen on Kate's dress, though it suited her (the bust looked awkward IMHO). Meghan's was lovely - and I appreciate the rise in boat neck garments too Smile

missclimpson · 06/10/2018 18:12

I was very pregnant with my second at Princess Anne's wedding and we had just got our first colour telly. I liked her dress but thought her hair looked flat and awful. I remember a shop had promised to get a copy out the next day, but it was all cut from one piece of fabric and incredibly complex to reproduce.
Oddly I don't remember any shortages at that time. I remember our grocer giving us extra sugar to make marmalade so maybe that was a few months later. We had also just bought a house with gas central heating. Such luxury. 😀

missclimpson · 06/10/2018 18:40

The first royal weddings I saw on television were Princess Alexandra (amazing lace veil as a train), the Duke and Duchess of Kent (stunning setting in York Minster and she was beautiful) and Princess Margaret. I can't remember the order but they were close together.
I also remember watching the Coronation on our 9" television, but I got very bored.
