Yes, I’ve sold several me& em things. Plus strangely M&S items sell really fast too.

DailyFailAreTwats · 02/10/2018 16:00

A question for you lovely ladies: i love love love my Jo Malone blue agave and cacao, but it's discontinued and I can't make my stash last much longer. I love the vanilla notes and the fact it is rich and not too sweet. But I know nothing about scents... any ideas of other stuff I might like? Also love scents such as fig or chocolate....

3TresTrois · 02/10/2018 16:54

Hi Perfumistas

Just got my 9ml of Sex Goddess in the post and I like it very much. I can definitely sell Sexiest Scent here, but they this fruitier and less creamy. Very nice. I’d definitely get a full bottle of this.

I’ve got my sample of White Queen on one back-of-arm, too, and after a ropey start that was overwhelming stale chocolate and marzipan, the drydown is a more promising creamy, nutty vibe. It’s a very recognisable 4160 - reminds me of Centrepiece (which I love) and Inevitable Crimes of Passion (which I don’t)...and very gourmand...but not sure it’s my kind of gourmand.

Also got a sample of Babylon Sunset, which starts beautifully...warm, honeyed citrus fruits...but it’s dried down into something seriously sickly and slightly undolic. I smell bad breath and air freshener. Ick.

SOTD has been Annick Goutal Sables. What a scent! On at 6.30am and still going strong now. Immortelle, sandalwood and amber; it's a delicious autumnal powerhouse, dense and almost syrupy but not sweet. FB-worthy, undoubtedly.

MrsLucas · 02/10/2018 20:48

Welcome Daily. 'Fraid I haven't smelt that, but in terms of chocolate and/or gourmands, and/or cardamon:

Ralph Lauren Notorious is an interesting cool chocolate - often possible to pick up cheaply on ebay.

4160Tuesdays, The Great Randello is a delicious gourmand (pipe tobacco and pudding trolley).

Perfume Parlour dupes, Tobacco Vanillas and Lilac Lover, could be interesting gourmand options to take a low risk punt on?

Kenzo L'Elephant and Jardins D'Ecrivains' George have great cardamon notes.

Fennel - on my wish list!

Sables sounds lovely, Fennel

Judydreamsofhorses · 02/10/2018 21:37

SOTD Byredo Gypsy Water.

Quantumblue · 03/10/2018 01:53

Been lurking on your threads for a long time and just tiptoeing in with a dumb question.
I went to Perfume Parlour website and bought the Flower bomb dupe and a jo Malone dupe. They arrived in bottles labeled 'massage oil'. Is that how they send them or did I hit the wrong button somewhere?
Today I'm wearing penhaligon's bluebells which I dearly love.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 03/10/2018 06:46

Don't PP do a JM Agave and wotsit dupe? I was sure they used to. Gourmands, apart from the iconic Angel aren't really my thing, so I'll let the more gourmandy experts help you out, Fail! Though I found this thread from last year, so some of these might be worth hunting down.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2890642-If-I-loved-and-now-miss-Jo-Malone-Blue-Agave-perfume-what-may-I-like-now

Quantum- I'm not sure (despite having about 50 PP dupes!) I think the roll-ons are all classed as massage oils, all of mine are, and I was also confused when they came. IIRC there isn't an explanation of why they are called that and why it's just the roll-ons that are called that iyswim? For a few years now I've bought the sprays which I find more practical.

Fennel- I read about Sables in Barbara Herman's book and put it on my wanna-try list.

No perfume yesterday or today as am sinus-y.

SotD Old Sport. Spin-off from a literary event to celebrate The Great Gatsby. Mainly I get leather and lavender. The opening has the same medicinal quality as The Lion Cupboard. Hankering to layer a gentle wettish naturalish floral on top, but not sure I have the right thing to hand. Maybe Bois de Violette, but that feels sacrilegious.

Maybe you need to hide in plain sight Mrsr8.

Sables was sent to me by the lovely bluekittens and I'm ekeing it out because it's preciousssss.

Currently sitting outside the Beeb, hours early for a meeting, hoping to spot celebs. No luck so far Grin. I'm in the divine Rome 1963 - another bouquet of white flowers made eminently wearable with the addition of pipe tobacco.

UnnecessaryFennel · 03/10/2018 08:40

Old Sport sounds interesting MrsL. Although the last leather-and-lavender I tried from 4160T was Goodbye Piccadilly and that was a disaster on me Sad...perhaps this is a different beast?

PlausibleSuit · 03/10/2018 08:57

Out and about today. There's construction going on near my flat and the deep piling is driving me nuts. So I'm going out to laptop-surf the cafes at the Southbank Centre, BFI and National Theatre.

SOTD... I need something mid-century to go with the open, concretey architecture so I'm going for Chanel Pour Monsieur.

Morning! I’m sitting in the reception of a grim council building about to go in to a meeting. No celeb spotting here, Fennel Grin.

Cheering myself up with a sample I got ages ago in one of the Perfume Society boxes - Salvatore Ferragamo ‘Signorina Misteriosa’. Blackberries, whipped cream and musk, apparently. It’s definitely sweet and musky. Not sure I detect any of the individual notes and the name is fringe for a 40-something Senora...but I like. Could be a good winter office workhorse and only £25 for 30 mls, so might indulge myself next month.

3TresTrois · 03/10/2018 09:46

cringe not fringe

Salutes Plausible - alignment with the built environment takes us to the next level.

Fennel - given the perfumes of 4160Tuesdays would be a good Mastermind subject for me, I'd actually have to pass on Goodbye Piccadilly, which I've only smelt once, and can't remember much about.
