Calm- Knowing was the only thing I found at Menorca airport Grin

I am unshowered and have to do a PO schlep, so will not add anymore as I can still smell Opium and don't want to knock the pensioners out. (It's pension day, which I'd forgotten, I am going to be in there for hours)

Bran- I am always shocked at how much I do like Samsara because it is so sweet, and I don't get on with sweet at all (hence me not liking almost any 4160s I think) Samsara, 24 Faubourg (sp?) and Bandit all have a similar sweet kick that I can cope with.

Calmanddance · 01/10/2018 07:49

Ah yes, I knew there was someone who loves Knowing, but couldn’t remember who it was! I can definitely smelly a “sicky” note in the Shalimar Soufflé, possibly from the jasmine sambac. It’s not nice.

Calmanddance · 01/10/2018 07:58

Mrsr8, I love Paloma Picasso! It was one of my go-to perfumes in the 80s. I’m also going to try the PP Cinnabar on recommendation from here. Knowing, on my right arm, is becoming even more beautiful. I’m going to scrub off the Shalimar!

Im wearing this today
www.amazon.co.uk/Jacques-Saint-Pres-Ciel-Parfum/dp/B000WZIXRK?tag=mumsnetforum-21#customerReviews

I got it for about 5 euros in a french supermarket this summer and I really really like it. Theres a vintagey smell about it, and it reminds me of baby powder. Very easy to wear

PawneeParksDept · 01/10/2018 11:36

Yes @Mrsr8 I'm pretty sure the original describer was @PestymcPestFace so I hope she comes back to the thread soon

What perfume did you describe on a previous thread as fairground, toffee apples and cigarettes Pest if it was you ?

3TresTrois · 01/10/2018 13:19

Calm, I LOVE Manifesto L’Elixir. Dreamy. I wear it often in autumn/winter. Also love Knowing. A real beauty.

I’m definitely a gourmand lover, though, folks - sorry! Grin. Only in cooler weather, though.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 01/10/2018 17:48

I am showered and have had a tiny squirt (after yesterday's OD of Opium) of PP Samsara.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 01/10/2018 18:18

Mystery solved it was Kiss Me Quickly, thanks @Mrsr8

Thinking about it, I like gourmands without a massive vanilla note. (Is that a contradiction in terms?). White Queen is fab. Creamy Vanilla Custard is a bit too much of a good thing.

4160s Pillow Talk today - a jasmine and ylang-ylang that I can actually wear without getting a headache.

didireallysaythat · 01/10/2018 22:24

May I ask the perfume experts a question please?

I'm currently wearing Sisley eau no. 1 which I love but sometimes it feels like too much. My favourite is Liz Earle No. 15 but I can't smell it on me after 10 mins (bit like Jo Malone).

Next week I'm going to New York via Heathrow. Any suggestions on what I could try? I'm attending an all male meeting so I'm thinking big heels, chunky jewellery, kick ass perfume.

MrsLucas · 01/10/2018 23:16

Sounds like quite a trip, Did. I don't know that Sisley. I like, but had the same problem with No.15. I'd head straight for the Chanel Exclusifs and Coromandel - glorious oriental with shed loads of gravitas.

Or 31 Rue Cambon Did- grande dame chypre. Imagine Coco herself wafting down the staircase wearing it. (actually, she wouldn't waft, would she? That's far too wussy, she would strut)

MrsLucas · 02/10/2018 09:14

SotD is Coromandel

Sotd is Wrappings.
I’ve had a big sort out and listed lots of perfumes on eBay. Sets seem to sell fast as does Miller Harris/jo Malone. But not the more obscure niches ones. It does feel good clearing out my cupboards though and is long overdue.

Lutens Citronnier
Penhaligon Violetta
Crabtree & Evelyn Gardenia ( vintage)
Crabtree & Evelyn Iris
Sira des indies Parfum
Arran Driftwood
Atelier Trefle pur
Musc Pure ( officina selle ssenze)
Bois d orange ( roger & gallet).
Eau de missions massage oil.
Sort of random stuff !

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 02/10/2018 13:13

Teta- I'm listing too. I also find that. I've managed to get a fiver for a couple of my 9ml 4160s, but others haven't even sold. I also got just 99 fucking p (sorry for the language) for the Chanel 22 and Misia samples. OK I only paid 99p for 4 of them Grin but still.

I need to go through my ginormous hamper and do some serious getting-rid-of.

(Me and Em clothes go well incidentally!)
