Barracker I think we should support women in their choices of perfume I keep this name solely for this thread as I give away far too much RL info but am on the fem threads and shall keep my perfume in my tote bag from Posie

Teta that sounds about right compared to what DH paid. The seller contacted him to say it was stuck at customs but the fees were his responsibility, he could decline the package if he wanted. Makes for an unexpectedly expensive item though, doesn't it

FloofyCatLovesAutumn · 17/10/2018 13:16

Who doesn't need a gingerbread perfume at this time of year? Clocks go back soon...

UnnecessaryFennel · 17/10/2018 14:42

Stop it floofy, you enabler 🤣

fishonabicycle · 17/10/2018 14:42

I am trying to find out what my most loathed perfume is - I smell it wafting past me occasionally. It reminds me of a stuffy room where someone has sprayed an awful powdery (in a bad way - I like some powdery perfumes) s want to disguise the mustiness of the room. Underlying smell of Oxfam.

CountFosco · 17/10/2018 15:17

Barracker there's definite overlap between S&B and feminism, e.g. Floisme is a regular poster on each. I post occasionally but lurk a lot on FWR.

Anyway, perfume is culture not 'beauty' and old or ugly women can smell better than young or pretty women. It's like jewellery, more of an indication of money and class than sexual availability to men. So wear your feminist perfume with pride. Have you tried 4160T Goodbye Piccadilly?

Barracker · 17/10/2018 15:28

S'ok, I'm only kidding about the feminism bit. Liking lovely smells is not a sex or gender related thing!
I've passed several perfumes to my husband that haven't worked on me.

I've never tried any of the 4160T perfumes though. I must live under a rock.

UnnecessaryFennel · 17/10/2018 15:54

I've just spent the last 20 mins adding and removing Chergui and Gingembre from my Notino basket.

Remind me that this money could be much better spent elsewhere and that I won't be able to drink perfume when we have a no-deal Brexit 🤣

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 17/10/2018 16:03

Naaaaah, buy it Fennel.

Am in Bois des Isles which was first sample out of sample box.

I can understand that, given it's from the 20s, it's considered a game changing classic, but now that we have the stunning masterpieces like the Tauers and Cardinal and Avignon and La Fumee and other smoky, woody, spicy gems, to me it's 'just another woody scent" (it's got a rancid hint of poo-y oud to me as well)

Oooops. Looks like I'm going to be drinking perfume come 29th March 2019...

😬😬😬

3TresTrois · 17/10/2018 17:06

Sorely tempted by that Papillon sample set, but really can’t treat myself right now.
I already have Fille de Berlin and D&G Pour Femme lingering in my Notino basket and have resisted checking out for weeks Grin.

SOTD Manifesto L’Elixir. Bottle nearly drained so that’s def going on my Christmas list for DH Grin.

I’m thinking of name changing again to have two separate names for my two favourite MN sections (Perfumistas and FWR). No inspiration for new names, though!, currently...

UnnecessaryFennel · 17/10/2018 17:24

fishonabicycle - I'm tempted to suggest you could be smelling L'air de rien by Miller Harris...it's very musty/powdery/damp

I love it though 😁

3TresTrois · 17/10/2018 19:20

SOTE Kenzo Amour

Glass of red and a bath, then bed. Crawling towards half term......

FloofyCatLovesAutumn · 17/10/2018 19:25

The Fragrance Shop has 30ml of Samsara for £24 instead of £43 with code SAMSARA.

Not enabling, oh no, not me

Sounds like there is a big overlap here between the Feminist and Perfumista sets on our Venn diagram Smile. Might be quicker to establish who isn't one?

SoTD is Chanel 19. I feel horribly snotty and cough-y, and we are going away on Sunday so I need to be well. Bleurgh.

Furious GC feminist here.

Just a fabulously-perfumed one Wink

I think I've pontificated before on these threads how I believe that a love of perfume is entirely compatible with fierce feminism.

3TresTrois · 17/10/2018 20:34

GC feminist perfumista and proud! Grin

MrsLucas · 17/10/2018 20:40

GC feminist calling in (unperfumed as have showered off the Bois des Iles and developed a headache)
Pop me into the Venn diagram.
Am rather masochistically looking forward to gender hitting Italy...I am so ready to stand on the barricades. When I do broach the subject here people think I'm fibbing. That the world can't have gone that mad.

Staunch feminist here, but don’t participate in any discussions on the boards on MN.
