Grin it is indeed. I always wear it for important meetings at work, I love the dry austerity of it. Love all the Papillon range actually. Considering asking DH for Salome for Christmas, that or a Zoologist. Hmmm...

SotD is Bronnley Wild Green which is like a sweeter watered down version of Dryad. And a lot cheaper! Bit more officemate friendly.

Oooh can I join?

It's Arabie (Serge Lutens) for me at the moment. Rich like spicy prunes - I love it when the weather gets colder.

FannyBurney · 16/10/2018 20:50

I'm wearing tiger balm and YSL manifesto L'Elixir.

I've got a Dickensian cough but I want to feel a bit pretty. I'm not pulling it off.

I will try again when I'm better, but my first go at the PP version of by the fireplace reminded me unpleasantly of a cheap 'toffee and baking' type cheap candle. Sorry.

I like PP portrait of a lady though.

3TresTrois · 16/10/2018 22:06

Fanny mmmmm Manifesto L’Elixir is beeeeaaauuutiful.

Rochas Femme tonight for...um...pjs and bed. Grin

MrsLucas · 16/10/2018 22:54

Randomly pulled out J25 today (v kind sample of Amouage Jubilation gifted by lovely Perfumista who I'm not sure is still posting?).

Wowser. Starts off as a massive classic aldehyde: soaring, fatty and a bit smokey. Then it flips over and becomes a massive rich civet (can see the Femme parallels). Amazing stuff.

The good news is I’ve just bought Chergui. I’ve wanted it for ages and it’s on special offer on Notino. Its the first bottle I’ve bought since June and I’ve sold several bottles on eBay. I’ve also just ordered a sample of Gypsy water as it sounds up my street.
The bad news is I’ve just been sent a customs bill of £18.00 for my sample order from Aftelier. What % should customs be? Anyone know?

Barbayagar · 17/10/2018 11:30

PP by the fireplace/wood fire is so smoky! Love it, just arrived today. Already planning to wear it on fireworks night.

I do indeed. I have layered it on top of 4160 CBC, works really well.

CountFosco · 17/10/2018 12:20

I've not tried any papillon.

Sample set. Seriously classy perfumes.

SotD Mrs Gloss Outdoors. Probably my favourite 4160.

SOTD is Amour Nocturne.

Am sitting on my hands to not buy that bargain Chergui...

FloofyCatLovesAutumn · 17/10/2018 12:39

Barracker bit late but is your Anais Anais a good old proper vintage or the re-issue (is that the right word?) which I think is called L'original? I have the latter and think it is the same as the original but interested in other opinions. Slight derail alert - are you the Barracker from the feminist threads btw? If so, I love you

Welcome chippy with that name I am associating you with the smell of vinegar

Teta which country did your sample arrive in from? DH just got hit with unexpected customs duty bill for a jewellery present which came from the US The gov website is pretty good, I don't know if perfume attracts different rates though?

https://www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/tax-and-duty

my BTF/Wood Fire arrived and I do love it! I think my skin is weird though as the initial smoke disappeared almost immediately and it smells smooth and sweet. Which I like This is what I wanted TF Tobacco Vanille to be instead of the bloody Vicks Vaporub it turned out to be. I shouldn't be wearing perfume as my chest is really bad but couldn't resist I forced DH to smell my wrist and apparently I smell "expensive". That'll do for me today!

Very jealous of those who are already at half term!

FloofyCatLovesAutumn · 17/10/2018 12:40

Omg what happened to my punctuation there

Where's the bargain SL Fennel? (Just asking for a friend..).

SotD Pierre Cardin Paradoxe. Old school mossy, leathery chypre. Think this is v old stock - 50mls currently being flogged off for a tenner, including delivery. Very nice, take a look vintage fans.

Proper old vintage from early nineties, floof. Found in a box at my parents house. I used to wear it without enjoying it much, but it was quite lovely when I tried it the other day!

(Please don't tell the other feminists I wear perfume. They'll revoke my radfem card and kick me out of the club Wink)

teta · 17/10/2018 12:53

Notino has Chergui for arriund £46.00 at the moment.
In other words I’ve just spoken to bloody FedEx re: customs. I’ve neen charged 18.72 on a sample package whuch cost just over £50. £12 of that was an ‘ advancement fee’ ??
Apparently it’s the companies fault ie. atelier for not telling me🙄

teta · 17/10/2018 12:54

‘ Been’ even. My cross-ness is getting the better of me.

UnnecessaryFennel · 17/10/2018 12:55

It's on Notino, MrsL

Trying not to look at the bottles of Five O'clock au Gingembre either...two of my favourite Lutens at irresistible prices...argh
