Thanks for all the kind thoughts. Youth Dew has done me proud and I got through today fine, until I found out this evening that an old childhood friend has been admitted to a hospice for palliative care. She is younger than me and will leave two primary-age children. I feel a little heartbroken.

I've taken comfort in MMM By The Fireplace. Warm, sweet, cosy. Oh, and wine. I'm supposed to have given up weekday drinking but, fuck it. A glass needs to be raised tonight.

Waitrose, do test Flower by Kenzo. It has a strong violet note. Also Perfume Parlour have some soliflore violet perfumes, including Violet Blossom and Parma Violets. Violet Blossom in particular has good reviews.

I had a motorway journey today and so it was a good excuse to wear Freeway, even though I was only going to Letchworth!

Feerie by Van Cleef and Arpels is beautiful violets. I think it doesn't get nearly the attention it deserves. And the bottle is so pretty. Which is not the point but my daughter has called dibs on it when it's empty.

Perfumistas can you help me? I’m getting married on Saturday and have just realised from another thread that I have nothing to smell of - I’m rubbish at S&B and it didn’t even occur to me.

I’ve never chosen a perfume myself before but have a bottle of diorissimo (?) from my STBMIL that I quite like - but not so much that I’d like to wear it on the day.

Limited to high street stores and no crazy budget - am I asking the impossible?

Elie Saab Parfum - beautiful honeyed orange blossom in both Parfum and a less sweet edt. For cooler weather the richer Parfum will sing.
Carven Le Parfum edt. Sweet pea & flowers.
Both composed by Francis Kurkdjian who has a way with orange blossom and generally available in Boots/ John Lewis.

Thank you all I’ve never heard of any of these so this has been so useful. I’m going shopping soon, I’ll let you know what I choose!
