Opium and other big hitters came first, but it was so zeitgeisty IMO.

The actual fragrance, the bottle, the risque advertising. The fact that it was, American...

Yes but don't Opium and Cinnabar have traditional chord structure (progression beteeen top, middle, base)? Was Obsession the first with a great big stable chord throughout?

Here is my top ten 4160s list (alphabetical order):

Eat Flowers
Freeway
Inevitable Crimes of Passion
Le Jardin de Monsieur McGregor
Paris 1948
Rome 1963
Shazam!
The Dark Heart of Old Havana
The Lion Cupboard
White Queen

I have chosen them as my top ten scents to wear now, in the autumn/winter. I have lots more that I like (big 4160 fan!) but would choose to wear in another season.

I love Silk, Lace and Chocolate, but only when I’m in the right mood. It’s so rich and comforting (and very sweet!).

MrsLucas · 06/10/2018 16:27

Yes, so unFrench!

Have been reading not posting as my perfume mojo seems to have wilted under RL stresses, but I had to post as I saw my mother earlier and she was wearing proper vintage Opium! I thought of you guys SmileVintage Obsession is just fabulous too. It's just such a nostalgia fest.

Top ten 4160s? I love a list

Ealing Green
Babylon Sunset
Sleep Knot
Invisible Ben
What I did on my holidays
Eat Flowers
Centrepiece
Sexiest scent

OK that's only 8 as I can't remember any more Blush and a few of those samples were kindly sent to me by lovely Perfumistas!

Have been automatically reaching for perfume rather than selecting it (if that makes sense) but still enjoying the Autumn scents (hence the NC, also my hair didn't play ball with growing back, the bastard, so I shaved it again in a temper and changed my MN name accordingly Grin)

Have been wearing lots of Paloma Picasso and Mandorlo di Sicilia (sp?). Also PP version of the Lush Rock Star soap (also a contender for excellent PP names - Rocking Star Wink)

It smells of bonfires here today and the sunlight is really bright but low and slanted. I have my heated throw and a cat on my lap, with a cup of tea and and a box of biscuits. It would be lovely and cosy if some fucker wasn't mowing their lawn too Grin

FloofyCatLovesAutumn · 06/10/2018 16:32

Alphabetical order calm?! I love you Grin

Love your updates, Floof!

Hope you Perfumistas are all having a peaceful Saturday evening.

I was in my lazy comfort perfume (Burberry Women) today for football mum duties.

Home now, about to tuck into lentil shepherds pie and a glass of Wine, but feeling uninspired as to a SOTE...

Cherrypi · 06/10/2018 18:49

Anyone else like the body shop’s black musk? Discovered it today and it smells great now hours after I sampled it.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 06/10/2018 18:58

I would have sponsored the 9ml but they've run out Sad

MrsLucas · 06/10/2018 19:59

My guess is that a third batch of 9mls will go up, but will be a couple of quid more? I want the kit to play with at home; I reckon it would be way more fun than a calendar . But sadly funds do not permit especially not after yesterday's parking ticket

SOTD MMM Sunday Morning, for a haircut.

MrsLucas · 06/10/2018 22:49

Floof, I agree; also admiring Calm's alpha-sorted list and seasonal selection wish I'd thought of that

Third batch of 2x9ml now up on Indiegogo MrStark Smile.

SotE is PP Omber Hyacinthe or something like that.

Can I join in?
I'm wearing Tendre Madeleine by Les Senteurs Gourmandes. I smell like vanilla orange cinnamon cake and that suits me just fine today.

I'd love to nab me a sample of Guerlain's Gourmandes Coquin now that we're heading into cold weather but I don't fancy my chances of ever finding some.

3TresTrois · 06/10/2018 23:29

I’ve never tried black musk, Cherrypi, but had much success with White Musk L’Eau this summer (body lotion not perfume). Gorgeous. What's black musk like?

Barracker... Tendre Madeleine sounds...drool worthy Grin. Where can I buy it?!

3TresTrois · 06/10/2018 23:30

And anyone can join Grin.
Must love perfume. That is all!

3TresTrois · 06/10/2018 23:45

Spritz of Fracas before bed.

You know when you think ‘why do I wear anything else?’. A mood variation, I know, as I lean towards gourmand and lighter or more honeyed florals...but by GOD this is a classic for a reason. Absolutely beeeautiful &slightly dirty white floral Empress

Barracker · 07/10/2018 00:20

3TresTrois Amazon have it at a very reasonable price. It's very like the discontinued L de Lolita Lempicka, but without the immortelle. It's very autumnal, even Christmassy with the cinnamon cakeyness.

orange, bitter almond, vanilla sugar, mexican vanilla, spicy notes and wheat.

There are lots of vanilla based perfumes by Les Senteurs Gourmandes if you're so inclined.

Cherrypi · 07/10/2018 03:59

Black musk was sweet and spicy. Vanillary and pear.

Back again

Am I right in thinking Chanel's Coromandel will only be available at the airport (not regular stores) and only in a large bottle? I'm only away for 4 days with work so it's carry on only, so think I'm going to need a sock-it-to-them perfume in a smaller bottle to get back through security

Having a bit of a Chance day today. Trying to be bright and alert despite having slept on the sofa last night and leaving at 4am tomorrow ..
