SOTD is Paul Smith Rose. Fresh, pretty and entirely undemanding; I'd forgotten how much I genuinely like this.

I need something that's not going to ask me to live it up to it today, as am grumpy with an aching ear. Plus I want a bacon sandwich and there's no bacon and dp has gone out with the car for the day. Grrrr.

Barracker the more the merrier! The vanilla orange cinnamon cake sounds right up my scent street, and I see it has almond too I am on a total buying ban at the moment but it has definitely gone on the wish list, thank you. Do you like Mandorlo di Sicilia? (Pls excuse any spelling errors)

Cherrypi I can't remember if I have tried black musk, I love the other musks and have a very very precious teeny bottle of vintage rose musk (the oil with droppers!). I find recent BS perfumes to be very fleeting on me though, more like body sprays. Does the black musk have good lasting power?

Mrsr8 Angry it gives me The Rage when people knowingly bring germy DC out and about. I know sometimes it's unavoidable but I wish people would consider others with knackered immune systems. Also have The Rage with employers who don't pay sick pay so people drag themselves in (which I do understand) and spread the plague. Rant rant rant.

SOTD is my last precious drops of Sleep Knot, prompted by my top ten yesterday. It seems to have faded quite a lot despite being stored in the dark but I still love it. I have a pile of sewing/mending I really should be doing so obviously I am lying in bed in my PJs eating lemon meringue pie (which lovely DH made for me for breakfast, I love him Smile) MNing and catching up on my 8 million recorded history programmes Grin

I hope everyone is having a similarly relaxing and glutinous Sunday!

FloofyCatLovesAutumn · 07/10/2018 14:35

FGS MrsR I forgot to say Happy Birthday! I got distracted with ranting Blush Did you get any scent based presents?

FloofyCatLovesAutumn · 07/10/2018 14:36

And is having an excellent excuse to avoid lunch at PILs actually a fabulous birthday present as a gift in disguise from your SIL? Wink

MrsLucas · 07/10/2018 17:41

Started the day in Inevitable Crimes. Now in La Fumee which I tend to forget is stonkingly good.

Happy birthday MrsR!

I have enjoyed PS Rose today but it is very linear.

Are Sleep Knot and Pillow Talk the same thing? I think they may be - if so I love it too floofy.

Judydreamsofhorses · 07/10/2018 18:42

Happy birthday mrsR!

SOTD MH Rose Silence. Horrible wet day here, DP is cooking cottage pie, and I have a purring cat on my lap. One week of work until holidays.

Cherrypi · 07/10/2018 19:02

Hmm black musk had gone by bedtime and I put it on at lunchtime so not super long lasting.

UnnecessaryFennel · 07/10/2018 19:10

I've gone for the third round of 2 x 9mls in the 4160s crowdfunding. But it doesn't count because I'm not going to get it until December Grin

3TresTrois · 07/10/2018 19:17

Belated happy birthday mrsr! I hope it was fragrant Grin.

I’m full of cold and am off to have a bath and early night. SOTE Insolence.

cantbelievemyeyes · 07/10/2018 19:56

Happy birthday Mrsr8!

Had another lovely wander around Liberty in London again yesterday- I do love it there. No-one constantly asking if they can help or guarding perfumes from behind a counter (yes you Selfridges/ Debenhams etc).

I have a dilemma now though- my birthday is imminent and I had decided to get Nasomatto Baraonda as I love the booziness; proper blows my mind. But I tried MFK Baccarat Rouge yesterday and it's just divine. So classy and definitely more opportunities to wear than Baraonda, which does make me smell like I've tipped a bottle of Jack Daniels over me (in a good way!)

I can't afford £195 on the MFK, but I could get a 3x11ml travel set thing for about £90. But, I also really want Fracas...aaargh. I'll probably still be dithering about this at Christmas.

FannyBurney · 07/10/2018 21:46

I just bought manifesto L'Elixir because of this thread! Can't remember who mentioned it and I've never smelled it but I think I'm going to like it. I love heliotrope and floral orientals are my thing. Hope it gets here tomorrow

musicmum75 · 07/10/2018 22:17

Unnecessary Fennel

No, Sleep Knot and Pillow Talk are very different, to me at least. Pillow Talk is very heavy on the jasmine and I don't like it at all, whereas Sleep Knot is one of my fave 4160s

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 07/10/2018 22:48

Just placemarking because I have been mysteriously logged out (did I click something?) and couldn’t remember any of my details - had to create a whole new account. Grrr.

Barracker · 08/10/2018 00:12

Do you like Mandorlo di Sicilia? I don't know but I've added it to my "want to test" list because it sounds right up my street.
I love Guerlain's Mandarine Basilic, especially for summer. It turns out I love mandarin in perfumes. I love it when I notice a common note in perfumes that I seem to always enjoy. Pear is another fruit that works for me, and plum.
It's also helpful to realise that patchouli is always going to be very iffy for me unless it's kept to an absolute minimum.

MrsLucas · 08/10/2018 07:10

Love mandarin notes too. Get on fine with patchoulii. SotD is Coromandel to go with my latest eBay bargain - a vintage Missioni blouse. Smile

Update from the airport:

Coromandel not a hit. Started off ok but by the time I'd walked to get my espresso the first hit was gone to be replaced with what I can only describe as turnip. Not quite the impression I was going for. Extensive body scrub application to wrists and I'm ready to try something else.

This happens a lot to me: killer fragrances on friends disappear and leave longing weirdness on me.

Grin at turnip. I have held scented strips of Coromandel under people's noses before and they've recoiled in repulsion so maybe they get the turnip too!

Happy belated birthday mrs8!

I have had a Samsara (PP) weekend after the Obsession on Saturday. The Sam has become my go-to bedtime fragrance as it's then I only put one tiny squirt on. I love it so much, and I shouldn't because it is so very sweet. But it's old school sweet, not PM sweet.

Been chucking it down here for 4 days. And my hours have been cut. Just like that. Whoomph. School has no money. School now has to explain to parents their broken promise of 2 hours with me per class per week. Good luck with that, and they won't be getting any help from me to sweeten the pill. Bastards. And obviously they have not taken into account the (free by me) Open Day Sundays, the (free by me) 60 hours of class meetings a year, the (free by me) Open Night till fucking midnight in January, the (free by me) extra exam classes in the afternoons for the stragglers.

Unfortunately, they've been smart enough to only decide now, because had I known earlier, I would have hawked my wares elsewhere for this year. Now, it's late, and places have been filled.

No perfume much for me this year I guess. Humph.

didireallysaythat · 08/10/2018 07:32

I'll try Bois design Iles on the way to the gate.

I've got my trusty mini decant of Chance fraiche in my bag so I can just sweeten my audience into stunned silence (I've packed big clunky heels and statement jewellery - why blend in when you can stand out?)
