Thank you MrStark - would you recommend?

Absolutely MrsLucas I think it's lovely I've loved smelling it all day and it lasted 9-5

namastayinbed · 04/10/2018 19:37

The thread title lured me in - I'd love a perfume that smells of plums and vanilla. Any recommendations?

Welcome namastayinbed

Mind blank on plum and vanilla fragrances, other than a celeb fragrance which I find rather lovely celeb fragrance Sofia by Sofia Vergara. Rich, unapologetically sweet, but quite deep and musky and ‘grown up’ too.

3TresTrois · 04/10/2018 21:02

In Sex Goddess again, for bed.

Who called it blousy?

You’re right...it is! I think I love blousy, though.

Lotsofpots · 04/10/2018 21:07

That was me 3tres - and I think I need to try it on a warmer evening. I feel like blousy might suits balmy (that sounds like a weird version of the seven dwarfs).

Not tried captured by the candlelight @Blahblahblah111 - I desperately don't want to like it based on your description, because I want my perfume choices to feel more 'grown up', but I think I would...

Saying that my favourite sweet, gourmand smells tend to have something that stops them being too overbearingly sweet and adds an extra dimension to my mind - anima dulcis and shay and blue Salt Caramel for example.

Calmanddance · 04/10/2018 21:14

Hello, namastayinbed, Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy has plums and vanilla. It is very sweet, though (I love sweet!). You might want to test it first.

I have been wearing Zadig & Voltaire’s This Is Her, today. It is a gourmand, a rich chestnut and vanilla sitting on a beautiful jasmine and sandalwood base.

MrsLucas · 04/10/2018 21:15

Namastay - welcome. There are loads, so it depends on your tastes. I like vintage Femme, Rochas. (Loads on eBay). And Feminitite du Bois, Shiseido/Serge Lutens (pricey). I'm sure other people will have ideas?

That sounds good Calm.

Captured by Candlelight smells insanely boozy. Not one for the workplace Grin.

Love Captured by Candlelight, but it’s very much a winter fragrance for me, as it’s a very sweet, boozy, juicy gourmand. Christmassy!

SotE is Shazam! Makes me smell like a bit of an old hippie but in a very uplifting way.

Thanks all - calm the Zadig & Voltaire one sounds amazing- I knew this thread would be dangerous!

namastayinbed · 05/10/2018 08:30

I'm wearing Next Eau Nude today but not feeling the love. It seems to have a sharp top note that then goes quite sour. Maybe it's just me! As you can tell, I don't really know the technical terms, but my mid 90s love for Angel suggests I need to go more gourmand.

UnnecessaryFennel · 05/10/2018 09:27

Welcome namastay (is that a tautology? Grin) Stick around, we are all happy amateurs here!

No SOTD this morning yet - working from home and can't work out how I want to smell yet...

Sex goddess arrived and i'm wearing it today. I love it and DP approves too. He tens to most like vanilla based scents so i was surprised he liked this one so much.

Got to start boxing my collection up Sad its one of the things thats going with me immediately. I go at the end of this month and then dp follows a few weeks later so anything of mine left, he'll bring when he follows

UnnecessaryFennel · 05/10/2018 13:22

I have Shazam! on my left wrist and The Great Randello on my right. Both warm, woody, sweet, patchouli, mildly hippyish on me, and not actually that much to choose between them now that they've dried down.

Shazam! has a fizzier, sharper edge from the orange, while TGR is smoother, softer, with a more obviously 'gourmand' toffee/fruity note. I disliked TGR when I first tried it, thought it was too sweet by far, but it's not so bad today. Neither would make it into my Top Ten 4160s, though.
