I am back asking for styling advice re the tunic. What could I wear for a jacket? Would it need to be a coat longer than the tunic or could I wear a leather jacket?

Ellapaella · 02/10/2018 13:34

Cherries I would go for something like this (but maybe in a dark grey - not white/pink)

Leather jacket and nice soft scarf would also work though.

Thanks Ella. Life wasn’t as much fun when I was dressing from the men’s s section of Mountain Warehouse, but getting dressed didn’t require me to mobilise the support of the entire internet before going out the door!

Laska5772 · 02/10/2018 14:50

I passed on the green leopard New Look skirt after all . It was 9.99 and same in shop so you were v lucky with the price you got it for cherries Anyway I decided that with the other things I sent back I wouldn't have to feel too guilty about keeping the orange cashmere if I do.

Laska5772 · 02/10/2018 14:53

Took back the M&S cord s also.they didn't have any more input local store, but that's ok another 19.50 back in the bank ( at least for a while. Grin)

ilovecherries · 02/10/2018 14:53

That’s odd, I wonder if mine was a random one from last season or something. I’m still wittering on about keeping the jada vs having another cashmere.

zippyswife · 02/10/2018 15:10

@laska and @ella some time back (unless I dreamt it) you were discussing buying/owning doc martens. I ebayed a beautiful navy pair a couple of years ago that were just a bit too big. I’m thinking of getting another pair but I’m unsure how they’ll look. Wanted to ask how you wear yours?

Also... frayed star jeans. I’m thinking of getting a pair on brand alley. How’s the sizing on these?

Laska5772 · 02/10/2018 15:13

Zippy I've not had DMs so probably someone else. I have the Star jeans in 12 .. I think they're true to size

ilovecherries · 02/10/2018 15:35

I think the star jeans depend on where you hold your weight. I needed a 12 as mywIst is thicker, but the consequence is a bit more looseness than I’d like on the legs and bum. I’d say true to size for a pear, size up for an apple.

dontcallmelen · 02/10/2018 15:49

cherries agree with Ella a fairly lightweight coat would look really good, the tunic looks like a camel sort of colour in your pics so also think a leopard coat would go really well & leather jacket/scarf combo always looks good.

ilovecherries · 02/10/2018 15:50

I’m wearing the green embroidered heart sweat today. I’d forgotten how much I loved my hush sweats. I bought 4 bag in January and wore them like loads. Unpacked them from the vacuum bags today and bonding with them :). Well done on your returns Laska. Halo. I’m trying to shop really strategically and think of creating outfits rather than buying lots of different things just because I like them. So I am also being ruthless about returns.

dontcallmelen · 02/10/2018 15:51

I have not had DMs for years, used to wear mine with with straight leg tonic trousers & a crombie coat or jeans with a small turnup, but that was many years ago so really not sure of how you style them now.

Huffthepuff · 02/10/2018 16:30

@ilovecherries I agree with @dontcallmelen that a leopard print coat would look incredible with the jada! Also agree with Ella that you can't go wrong with a leather jacket. It certainly doesn't need to be a longer jacket than the tunic.
All cross body bags seem to now be sold with a short strap. I have the MV one that's just like this and I replaced the thin, short strap with a longer one from Amazon. It's made all the difference as the other one sat in completely the wrong place.

Have been keeping up with the thread but haven't had a chance to post for a while. For those feeling disillusioned with the £££ of the Stella jumper I thought I'd mention this MV one which is £69. It's a lovely thin knit with a tiny bit of sparkle on the star. The shape is cocoon so a bit different to the Stella in that sense https://www.johnlewis.com/mint-velvet-animal-star-knit-jumper-multi/p3703173?sku=237678374&skwcid=2dx92700037226640709&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuvy8pIno3QIVTeh3Ch1irwPkEAQYASABEgII-PDBwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Huffthepuff · 02/10/2018 16:40

I'm a 10 and have the medium as I want it to be quite slouchy. It's not letting me add photos on the app Angry

AFingerofFudge · 02/10/2018 16:52

Thanks all for the comments (just home after a manic shift!)
Yes I'm keeping the sweatshirt but the Bibi is just not worth the £45 price tag.

cherries I felt the same as you about the jacket. I really liked it but felt that I wouldn't wear it enough as it's quite formal.

zippyswife · 02/10/2018 17:25

Thanks for size info on the star jeans. I’m a definite apple- all my weight is there so I’ll size up!

Laska5772 · 02/10/2018 19:58

Huff that MV animal sweater is really nice.

Well I had a nice surprise , logged on and found that £71.69 had appeared in my Quidco account today !.. (it was mainly from our car hire this summer , but DH doesnt do/ know about Quidco, so its mine!! Grin.

So now I dont feel at all guilty about keeping the new JL chunky orange cashmere jumper ,( which is Utterly Lush btw.). Smile

Laska5772 · 02/10/2018 20:01

Btw Cherries Please, please do pm me if you are thinking of ebaying your yellow Vicky jumper . Mine was a large when I bought it (as that was all they had left) and I've lost quite a lot of weight since..

SoyYo · 02/10/2018 20:02

My Hush parcel arrived late this afternoon and because of Kate working only now trying on, light is poor so can’t take pics.
First impressions: love the Marina snake skirt, I’ve had the black before and it was too bulky on me so from that point of view I can see why others would prefer that as “higher quality” but it swamped me whereas the snake print being a bit shorter and less generous on the fabric front is great. I’m keeping.
RocknRoll T tbh is expensive for what it is but I like the grungy vibe and keeping.
The LS dress is weird Hmm
www.hush-uk.com/m/womenswear/daywear/dresses_skirts/ls_layered_jersey_dress_deep_forest_marl.htm
It’s flimsy cotton jersey, I guess similar to Tara dress fabric. The top bit at the front is not attached to the bottom but it is at the back. I guess it’s to allow you to “artfully” arrange it so the folds fall well but tbh it looks pants on me and I was looking for a work dress, this is too flimsy and informal to wear for work. More of a t shirt dress for popping to the shops. The colour is a sludgy faded green that’s not at all forest green...

SoyYo · 02/10/2018 20:04

Kate working Hmm meant *late working” iPhone troubles

Laska5772 · 02/10/2018 20:10

soy So.. you are working for the Duchess of Cambridge these days? Grin

Laska5772 · 02/10/2018 20:11

Shes's just round the corner from you isnt she? , I expect you have bumped into her in your local Tescos..

SoyYo · 02/10/2018 20:12

laska Grin I’m a Republican so can’t see me ever doing that 🤣
Btw glad your cashmere purchases are making you so happy! We certainly needed cheering up 🤗
