Had enough of seeing something repeated ad nauseam?

Want to offload when having tried to find good quality, stylish clothes you are instead met with a sea of shit? Epically garish, cheaply manufactured (without the corresponding price tag) and downright tired apply here.

I may be alone in having this need, but may I start by offering..... the rainbow jumper. How to take a perfectly useable piece of cloth and curse it to landfill in nanoseconds.....

Yes, just when are you going to wear a turtle neck with no sleeves? Why buy a waterproof, sleeveless jacket??

Isentthesignal · 14/09/2018 08:00

Looking for a pair of Pyjamas? - do not under any circumstances go to M&S, you will be confronted with a plethoria of stars, cutesy prints, excessively bright checks, poorly cut, cheap thin fabrics....I just want cotton bottoms. I don't wish to look like a sex god, but I'd rather not look like a 4 year old or someone who has lost all sense of self behind closed doors.

TroysMammy · 14/09/2018 08:15

I love my panda face pj's Blush. I don't have mermaid, unicorn or slogan anything though.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 14/09/2018 08:59

I am feeling particularly fetid today as I have a dental appointment with a practice that is stingy on pain relief.

This is great displacement 😁

LOVING the idea of the ironic statement top. I suggest:

Romford Market
Bins
Snaggle tooth
Chalfonts

OOOh and in the spirit of the most excellent offerings on this thread:

Jack ups
Armpit donkeys
Flange.

Knee exposed jeans. WTF? Mark my words, in years to come they'll have arthritic knee joints. Beside the fact they look fucking ridiculous.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 14/09/2018 09:08

Take a perfectly fine jumper and ruin it with a reference to the aberration that was C&A’s clockhouse.....

Can I add these monstrosities please?

The weird pleated usually velvety/polyester type trousers in various lengths none of which are flattering.

#Mothwear for the win. Dishwater grey/pink wafty polyester suits exactly ZERO people.

Rednaxela · 14/09/2018 09:15

Clown jumpsuits with non work appropriate plunging v necks, gathered waists, big flappy legs in eye watering prints/huge thick stripes of green and red. Makes women look like overgrown toddlers.

"Dressing like she lost a bet"

Those trainer shoe things. WHY. Not work appropriate either!

Sliders should be burned. I thought the ugly shoe trend had peaked with those oriental silk fabric ankle boots but I see now they were just the gateway drug to the plastic drudgery of sliders.

Also not work appropriate.

The people in my building make my soul ache!

Bluelady · 14/09/2018 09:20

Can I add wedding dresses with corset type lacing up the back? Why?

And retrieve sleeveless turtle necks which are great if you have to wear a jacket in a hot office. There are still industries where a jacket is mandatory.

Bloomcounty · 14/09/2018 09:31

Bluelady as a person who alters wedding dresses for a living, I can answer that question.

Because the bride hasn't lost any of the weight she promised she would do when she bought the dress, and a lace up back is the only way we can shoehorn her into her £3000 pile of silk and crystals.

Elephantinacravat · 14/09/2018 09:35

I always feel sorry for the husbands when I see a 40 year old in a rainbow top under a cord pinny with a land girl hair band.

Why do you feel sorry for their husbands? Confused

Not every likes the dull as fuuuuuuuuuck streamlined, basic, 'expensive' look.

Bluelady · 14/09/2018 09:36

It wasn't a question, I just think it's vile 😊

PasstheStarmix · 14/09/2018 09:38

I would like to see what those on this thread with great big long lists of criticisms wore on a daily basis...Hmm

VanGoghsDog · 14/09/2018 09:44

I saw a woman wearing skinny jeans with the knee cut out of one side and the whole thigh cut out the other side. Well, when I say she was 'wearing' them.....they were just sort of.....on her.

Elledorado · 14/09/2018 09:48

Most of these things just don't suit me. Apart from 3/4 sleeves which I feel are classic and not a fashion and I will defend them to the death! Grin

VanGoghsDog · 14/09/2018 09:49

@PasstheStarmix

Plenty of other threads for that.

My sister is one of the #mothpeople - I never quite know what to say to her when she shows me some new, drapey, flowy, beigey/mushroomy thing she has bought. I've no idea why she thinks they look nice, they really don't.

One day she was staying with me and left from mine to go to an event - she was wearing a grey floaty skirt almost to the floor, a silver grey silky vest top (she has huge norks so bewildered as to why she does this), a long silvery coloured cardigan, a silver twisted fabric thing round her neck, grey tights and pewter shoes. I had to bite my tongue to stop myself telling her she looked like one of those living statues that paint themselves silver all over!

Usually I would agree that she looks like a moth though.

Miladymilord · 14/09/2018 09:50

Love the primark rainbow jumper.

Elephantinacravat · 14/09/2018 09:52

I would like to see what those on this thread with great big long lists of criticisms wore on a daily basis...

Stuff to try and look 'Parisian' I would imagine......

Bloomcounty · 14/09/2018 09:52

I'm not sure if this is fashion exactly, but has the "drawing triangles of brown muck on your face to pretend you have cheekbones" sculpting malarky finished? The whole drag queen make up look on extraordinarily pretty girls?

PasstheStarmix · 14/09/2018 09:53

@Elephantinacravat oh yes the sophisticated French collection Grin

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 14/09/2018 09:54

This thread is about the absence of good quality clothing and choice just about everywhere.

There seems to be a disconnect for many women between what they want and what is being continually pushed at them by clothes designers/manufacturers and the bloggers etc.

Also a lot of women buy stuff out of despair/desperation then feel a nosher wearing thus stuff and it is straight to landfill.

If you like rainbows/ dog jumpers/ glittery shite then knock yourself out. The point is the British high street and online traders seem to be designing exclusively for this taste. It’s not mine and I feel we could do with some viable alternatives.

Op hopefully some of the posters will leave insulting people’s husbands/marriages at the door than?

Miladymilord · 14/09/2018 09:57

Lol at Parisian! Give me a woman in a pinny and a rainbow jumper over a humourless bint in a beige mac any day!
