Had enough of seeing something repeated ad nauseam?

Want to offload when having tried to find good quality, stylish clothes you are instead met with a sea of shit? Epically garish, cheaply manufactured (without the corresponding price tag) and downright tired apply here.

I may be alone in having this need, but may I start by offering..... the rainbow jumper. How to take a perfectly useable piece of cloth and curse it to landfill in nanoseconds.....

I love 3/4 sleeves because I've got elegant wrists and hands, and 7/8 trousers cos they make my stupidly long legs look more in proportion with the rest of me.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 13/09/2018 22:07

Exposed zips though. Look cheap even when garment is designer and £££.

Madmarchpear · 13/09/2018 22:07

I absolutely agree women dressed as toddlers is partly down to the Jools Oliver Little bird range. The whole range is crap quality, naff and dare I say a tad common. They have mum and kid complimentary items! I always feel sorry for the husbands when I see a 40 year old in a rainbow top under a cord pinny with a land girl hair band.

PasstheStarmix · 13/09/2018 22:09

3/4 sleeves are great for the kind of autumnal weather where it can’t make its mind up and it’s abit warm for full length but cold for short sleeves. You can also see your watch at a glance...win win

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 13/09/2018 22:12

Those hemlines that are shorter at the front, because what woman doesn't want to showcase her knees?

Quangot · 13/09/2018 22:13
PasstheStarmix · 13/09/2018 22:13

3/4 length floaty pants a no no

Clionba · 13/09/2018 22:14

Wrap dresses that gape at the front so you have to pin it together. Wrap skirts that flap open at the front so that you have to pin it together.
Men's clothes are far more serviceable.

StillSmallVoice · 13/09/2018 22:16

Yeah, the fluffy slider thing. Makes crocs look stylish.

Also hate the cold shoulder. Looks..err...cold.

I am, however a fifty something who thought my Princess Diana look-alike wedding dress was a thing of beauty, so what would I know?

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 13/09/2018 22:17

Also is it me but are the High St fabrics even nastier - though not in fact cheaper - than ever this season? So much polyester chiffon. Keep away from naked flames, people.

newtlover · 13/09/2018 22:17

the rainbow jumpers are so we can all pretend to be Dr Who, though, surely

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 13/09/2018 22:19

All those wrap dresses with a flamenco frill that no one bought over the summer are back for winter.

Quangot · 13/09/2018 22:29

I've had enough of clothes with unnecessary extras (frills, logos, ties, bell sleeves, tops with a built-in necklace, pom-poms, hideous bad-taste patterns, beads on jumpers, polyester dresses covered with lace, etc.

But I've also had enough of clothes with bits missing, and agree with lots of those mentioned above... cold-shoulder tops, cropped T-shirts, backless tops with loads of cross-cross straps, "edge to edge" coats/cardigans, etc.

Random others would be button-through dresses, drawstrings at the waist which immediately add 8 inches to your waist. And beards - I thought we were supposed to have had "peak beard" ages ago!

VanGoghsDog · 13/09/2018 22:31

I had a bf once who bought me Eeyore PJs, with a silver thread running through so itchy as hell, and a fleece baby blue Eeyore dressing gown.

I asked him if he had meant to give them to his 14yo daughter - I was serious too, I was bewildered why an adult many would buy an adult woman these garments. I couldn't even imagine where he had got them!

VanGoghsDog · 13/09/2018 22:33

backless tops with loads of cross-cross straps

I never wear anything that is too complicated to put on when half asleep/drunk/in a hurry.

That includes those stupid tops that have an inbuilt vest. If I ever buy those, I cut the vest out and just wear a vest under if i want to.

KimchiLaLa · 13/09/2018 22:35

Cold shoulder tops and dresses. What's the point?

MaisyPops · 13/09/2018 22:36

VanGoghsDog
Primark went through a phase of doing lots of Disney pyjamas.

I saw some harry potter ones and then reconsidered because whilst I love Harry potter, I have a bit of a dislike of cartoon/fan clothing.

Sarcelle · 13/09/2018 22:45

Clothes and shoes embellished with diamanté. Pick up a nice boot and then find a sparkly heel.

Those furry mules are hideous. I saw a young girl wear them at work and thought she was wearing her nan’s slippers.

Frills

Bardot tops/cold shoulder

Really short denim shorts - really don’t need to see arse cheeks.

Trainers with hidden wedge. Weird, disturbing.

Ripped jeans.

Men with beards. Gross. Get a shave you caveman.

High Street swimwear designed for pool parties/TOWIE. Where’s the normal non-padded stuff?

Tattoos - controversial?

Clothes with big logos - Superdry, looking at you.

Trench coats that are not water/showerproof - the point is?

VanGoghsDog · 13/09/2018 22:59

Primark went through a phase of doing lots of Disney pyjamas.

This was before Primark. At least, before it was on highs streets anyway. And before much internet shopping. It was at least 13 years ago.

Movin · 13/09/2018 23:06

Can I just leave this here ...... ironically this is from my favourite corporate brand. It's fair to say their designer must be having an off patch !

3/4 length culottes
Mid shin length skirts - especially if they are pleated - they look AWFUL and so aging/ugly
Pleated skirts in general
Skater dresses
Cold shoulder tops
lace. Typically looks cheap even if it isn't.
Waterfall cardigans
Burberry print
Platform everything but especially trainers
Open toed shoes
High waisted jeans
Sequins - just FUCK OFF
Exposed zips
Anything with writing
Pointy flat shoes which make feet look like fish.
Fur. Only an utter utter cunt wears real fur.

Glad to have got all that off my chest

HarrietSchulenberg · 14/09/2018 00:27

Skinny jeans. They look hideous on anyone with thighs wider than a twiglet. They were fucking awful in the early 80s and I have steadfastly refused to buy the bastards since some sadist brought them back this millenium.

Anything polyester. Anything at all.

Those beige clothes that the wearers think make them look understated and chic. They don't, they make them invisible and bland.

Branded clothing. As someone else said, the brand should be paying the wearer for the advertising.

Kitten heels that get stuck in pavement cracks and grids. In fact, most pointy heels if I'm being honest.

But I am someone who's partial to mismatched clothing, the odd printed star or two, and apron tunics worn with leggings or tights and big, fuck-off boots, so most people would dump my entire wardrobe on Room 101.

Greyhound22 · 14/09/2018 01:57

Cold shoulder tops. I'll have all the material thanks.

Bardot tops. I'm a FF and I just can't go there. Tops and dresses all off shoulder FFS.

Pointless frills. Peplum. Yes that's just what I need to accentuate my middle age spread - lots of material around my hip area Hmm

Oh and 'distressed' anything. Trying to find a pair of jeans that look like they haven't been assaulted by a cheese grater.

I've officially turned into my mother sighs

HistoriaTrixie · 14/09/2018 04:04

Chiming in on the kitten heels and cold shoulder tops and adding CROPPED JUMPERS. If it's cold enough to wear one it's cold enough that I want my entire torso covered!
