Only wearing dresses?

Curious whether anyone here only wears dresses? I love the feel of dresses and live in them for most of the summer and thinking of continuing this into the colder months. I have some lovely casual dresses I can wear with boots and tights. Obviously this is excluding things like exercising/ gardening/ decorating

Dresses are lovely!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/09/2018 00:07

I own very few , I wore a couple of stretchy beach dresses on holiday (o protect the eyes of the innocent from my swimsuit)

I've got a navy long sleeved swing dress (M&S) that was too warm for summer , that might work now?

Dillydallyontheway · 09/09/2018 00:14

70 - that sounds lovely, definitely give it a try! Today I packed away alley other clothes as an experiment to see how I get on. I am 40 and excited to give it a try. I always feel more put together in dresses, even more casual ones and my husband loves me in dresses too. I'm not great at knowing what clothes go with what and dresses eliminate this hassle and take seconds to put on, not to mention they suit my figure more

I always wear dresses to work, every day. And sometimes not at work, for events, or in summer/on holiday. But my usual non-work clothing is jeans and top/jumper.

MVLipwig · 09/09/2018 00:26

I live in dresses. This summer I bought my first pair of trousers (bar gym stuff) in 3 years. The key is to have a few go to dresses in the same way you would jeans and top combo for quickness/lazy days. I think I look more put together because people seem to associate dresses with effort

MoltonSilver · 09/09/2018 00:31

I live in jeans but am trying to get into dresses for a change. I find it hard in winter to know what shoes and tights to put with casual dresses. Have you bought anything recently that you could recommend Dilly?

SausageOnAFork · 09/09/2018 00:36

I went through a stage of only wearing dresses. I didn’t own any trousers except one pair of jeans to do the garden.

Thick wool tights and boots are your friend.
Oh I’ve just remembered a lovely autumn dress I have. I’ll get that out soon.

GreenandBlueButterfly · 09/09/2018 00:37

I wear dresses about 6 days a week, sometimes all 7. Winter and summer. I find them more comfortable. I do own 10s of dresses so I don't have to repeat too often

Thierryhenryneedisaymore · 09/09/2018 00:44

I am 40s and can never find dresses i like /suit and as a result i dont look much now ....
Can we have some photos for inspiration please?

Holidayshopping · 09/09/2018 00:46

I wear jeans at work and dresses for work. I tend to wear them with tights or leggings and boots.

GrimDamnFanjo · 09/09/2018 01:35

Kirsty Allsopp only wears dresses!
I only wear dresses and pants- no skirts- would like to only wear dresses.
I'm just trying to find another style apart from shirts, wrap and the Seasalt mil pool and the reckon I'll have cracked it !

NameChangedNow · 09/09/2018 01:38

Me. I don't own a pair of trousers or a skirt.

MenaMecca · 09/09/2018 01:40

When I was so much bigger (18), I wore mostly dresses.

Now I only wear jeans and shorts.

HavingALittleBabyToolshed · 09/09/2018 01:45

I mostly wear dresses because I just find them a lot of easier to sling on. My top always sits funny or untucks if I wear a skirt/trousers/jeans with a top but with a dress it feels like minimal effort.

Going into autumn/winter I always spend a good amount of money on tights in various colours, thickness and fabrics and make sure they are organised well in my drawer.
That way it stops there being any hassle finding the right to pair with the dress.

I’ve just bought this dress

m.zara.com/uk/en/flowing-dress-p04437273.html?v1=7145650&v2=1074622

Which I’m going to wear with maroon tights and either black or muted leopard print flat boots and a big thick cardigan. Ultimate weekend slouchyness.

delphguelph · 09/09/2018 01:51

I usually wear dresses all through the summer to be honest. This year has been an exception as I've had the most awful bug bites on my lower legs that have scarred and look terrible.

I wear dresses and skirts with boots in spring and autumn too, not much in the winter as its - 25 most of the time!

Dresses are fab because they disguise my chunky thighs.

PurpleCurtains · 09/09/2018 05:48

Me. I have jeans, but only ever where them when the situation dictates jeans are the best thing to wear (and I'd look daft in a dress) rather than because they are comfortable for me if that makes sense.

Kimlek · 09/09/2018 05:58

I wear only dresses and sometimes shirts in summer. I too am thinking of carrying this through to autumn/winter but not sure regarding footwear. What style boots? In summer it’s easy as it’s either pumps for a casual look or sandals. I’d love some combo photos too. And tights? I find choosing these tricky too!

Peoplemaynoticeus · 09/09/2018 08:18

Me, I don't own any trousers I just wear dresses or skirts.

Dillydallyontheway · 09/09/2018 10:04

I have recently bought several dresses from Joe Browns. I have a casual lifestyle and find their jersey dresses very flattering. I am 40 and a size 16. I tend to suit a line dresses, not too short with a v neck and some sort of sleeve. I have a selection of knee length boots which I plan to wear through the winter. I just don't seem to look right in ankle boots.

I really recommend Uniqlo heat-tech leggings. Thin enough to pop under your tights when it gets really chilly without having to find nice, thicker tights.

I recently changed shape a bit and my old dress styles don’t suit me - it’s made shopping so much harder!

hungryhippie · 09/09/2018 10:18

I only wear dresses too. I own one pair of jeans for if I really cant wear a dress.

I find them much more comfortable than other clothes and mainly wear them with tights and cardigans.

ZenNudist · 09/09/2018 10:19

I wear jeans a lot but I prefer dresses to look smart I find them more comfortable as I am apple shaped and trousers that fit my waist don't fit my bum and hips.

thereallifesaffy · 09/09/2018 10:19

I love dresses but they longer like my knees. How do I find lovey chic daytime dresses that don't show my knees? I'm tall.

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 09/09/2018 10:22

I mostly wear dresses and actually more so in autumn/winter. Do like shorts in summer.
I prefer dresses (and a handful of skirts) in winter. I find it easier to keep warm with different types of tights, have som micro fleece lined ones from Primark that are so cosy. I don’t have trousers dragging through wet pavements. Totally recommend dresses all year round.

gastropod · 09/09/2018 10:24

In summer I live in dresses but I can't seem to get along in them during the winter!

Tights always roll down or give horrible muffin top, or are just generally uncomfortable, dresses stick to tights and ride up, etc.

What's the secret?
