Here we go again!

It's not even how posh people actually talk! Look at old footage of Diana, she has a genuinely upper-class accent but it sounds effortless because it was how she naturally spoke. Kate's accent sounds a bit like she's trying too hard to sound upper-class. At least Meghan is saved from that by being American!

Kate just sounds really affected. I am sure she had a posh accent to start with as she went to Marlborough College, but her accent does not sound natural. William and Harry often seem to want to tone down their accent. Harry went through a cringe making phase of saying 'ain't'.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/09/2018 18:56

Princess Eugenie went to Marlborough, so her is a good comparison to

I actually think Eugenie sounds posher.
Kate has quite a gentle voice.
They all drop their T’s; I think even Diana did it.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/09/2018 19:08

Eugenie's accent is genuine posh and she's not putting it on at all. Andrew actually doesn't sound as upper class as his elder brother but maybe that's because of his time in the navy.

Fergie is probably a good comparison to make with Kate but again, her accent is posh but doesn't sound forced. She wasn't aristocracy but both her parents descended from nobility and her family had been mixing with the royals for a long time. I think there's photos of her and Andrew talking to each other as children.

Meghan has been named to the Vanity Fair magazine Best Dressed List.

VanillaSugary · 06/09/2018 06:53

I've watched the two videos and I think the difference is in confidence. Eugenie has clearly been through the old fashioned "Sit up straight (very pertinent under the circs), speak clearly and look me in the eye when you talk" training since birth.

Kate swallows her words. Her nerves clearly affect her breathing which is coming out in her strained diction. Bless her, she needs more public speaking lessons.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/09/2018 07:11

It'll be interesting to see how Meghan performs at her first speech. Kate seemed very nervous but I guess the advantage of being an actress is that she'll be used to public speaking. There's not been any word about which charities she'll support but I think it took about 9 months post-wedding before Kate's were announced, so we may not know til next year.

William’s accent is so dumbed down on you can still hear he is posh, but he really doesn’t enunciate.

Even in more more formal speeches he still drops his Ts.

Prince Andrewin the Eugenie video sounds like a middle class bank manager. Not close at all to the expected aristo accent for someone of his age.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/09/2018 09:14

I guess no one really speaks like the Queen anymore. Even she doesn't sound as posh as she did in her youth!

@VanillaSugary I think that confidence might be a reason why the York sisters take so many fashion risks. They're not worried about stepping out of line as daddy has ensured they're set for life!

OP posts:
ExBbqQueen · 06/09/2018 09:37

I think Kate is nervous. My dcs went to a similar school to Marlborough, one speaks distinctly better than the other. Could be the same for the Middleton sisters.

Also of course the York sisters are set up for life. They are the Queen’s granddaughters.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/09/2018 15:19

Not fashion related, but hilarious picture of William in this article. www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-6138377/Prince-William-visits-Royal-Mail-Heathrow-helps-raise-awareness.html

Meghan's in a jewel-toned blue tonight with her hair down. Stunning colour on her but the only proper photo I've seen isn't the most flattering. https://madaboutmeghan.blogspot.com/2018/09/first-look-duchess-meghan-in-blue-for.html?m=1

Max has out-sleeved herself!

(Second pic shows them all their glory)

WipsGlitter · 06/09/2018 19:44

Love the shoes and colour but the cut looks way off.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/09/2018 19:47

@WipsGlitter I think it might just be a bad photo. I saw some footage on Twitter of them arriving and the dress looked fine. That shot makes it look like a little Sussex is on the way!

OP posts:
WipsGlitter · 06/09/2018 19:48

That's exactly what I was thinking!!

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/09/2018 19:48

@DontCallMeCharlotte I'm looking forward to the Dutch visit next month. Kate and Meghan will have to up their hat game to compete with Max!

OP posts:
JessiCake · 06/09/2018 19:52

Love the electric blue on her, that's a stunning colour.

Is it the angle or have her boobs grown 2 sizes in a week? Or is there something else afoot? (would hardly be a surprise if so, she's 37 and I assume they want children)

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/09/2018 19:54

I think it might just be the photo angle.

OP posts:
WipsGlitter · 06/09/2018 19:54

I think there's extra material over the chest like a ruffle. But yes her bust looks bigger. Jason Wu - wasn't Michelle O a big fan of his?

Jackietheduck · 06/09/2018 19:54

Not a flattering photograph and can’t say I’m a fan of the dress. The colour - yes. But the dress - no. It looks like something Fergie would wear.

Clionba · 06/09/2018 19:56

She definitely looks pregnant in that picture.

beanaseireann · 06/09/2018 20:00

Holy mother of God what's going on in the chest area Grin

Clionba · 06/09/2018 20:03

She's either pregnant with twins or that's a very unflattering picture! Nice to see her in a bright colour though, I was anticipating more black.
