Apparently it’s amazing, suits everyone, v flattering on all shapes, yadda yadda yadda. Sold out in about 3 seconds earlier this summer. I didn’t like it much but the power of advertising....

Well, they’ve brought out another version of it. This one here

Does anyone have it and is it really as good as they say? Help save

  1. me from returns
  2. my money or at least help me spend it wisely
  3. look like a tit

It looks lovely OP, you are keeping it aren’t you, the light colour looks really nice on you

I’m quite old and there is no way I could wear the light colour one, I’m hoping the navy looks ok as dark colours are a bit more forgiving when one isn’t as sylphlike anymore Grin

Ididnthearanything · 25/07/2018 17:40

I am also oldGrin.

I’m just in the door so I need to settle and have a look. (Posted immediately for MumsnetWink )I do like it tho. I think it might be a keeper. But they’re all pulling out of me here so let me have a look when they’re not.

Love the navy one

The dress is pretty on the slim, but far too high-necked for anyone with boobs. Same for the jumpsuit - it's nice, but made for a very specific figure (which is not what most M&S shoppers will have).

Can't we flash a bit of collarbone? Everything looks so much nicer if you can see some neckline.

HeyDolly · 25/07/2018 17:44

It looks lovely on you OP.

Also like the navy one and the jumpsuit. Alas I am currently pregnant with DC2 and am unsure if I will ever have a flat stomach again so won’t be purchasing and will just admire on others.

ZaZathecat · 25/07/2018 17:47

God I'd look like Norah Batty in that!

ZaZathecat · 25/07/2018 17:48

But you look great in it op!

Westwing1 · 25/07/2018 17:49

I think you look good in it and should keep it. Your hallway is like mine if I took the scooter, skateboard, laundry bag, cricket bag, air rifles (pigeons), trainers and amazon packaging out. Had a thought, the dress has a Vampires Wife feel about it, the shape I think.

Ididnthearanything · 25/07/2018 17:51

Grin maybe I look like Norah Batty. I’ll have another look soon.
My photos are rubbish, bless my efforts.

Other thing is that it is viscose, which I hate. But the dress actually feels very nice and cool. I could/might overlook the viscose issue

I’ve seen it on a few people, the length is suited to someone on the taller side. And you will look like a slave to insta. Everyone styles it with prison white trainers.

But if you love it, buy it.

Ididnthearanything · 25/07/2018 17:57

Westwing I’m beyond the scooter phase. Now it’s swim bags, hockey sticks, school bags, lunch bags, projects etc etc. You’re all lucky today, the hall is clear. I repeat, the hall is clear!

Just reading back @WeShouldbe - I LOVE it on you! Looks great.

Ohyesiam · 25/07/2018 18:13

I love it, looks edgy. Didn’t know m&s did contemporary.
You lol great in it op.
I would love to wear it but it would look vile on apple shaped me.
I’d wear it with a biker jacket . Ina month or two that is.

Westwing1 · 25/07/2018 18:33

I am beyond the scooter age too op (50) but the teenager uses it to travel from the hallway to the fridge. Grin

banivani · 25/07/2018 19:05

Thank you for your correct priorities in choosing to update MN before anything else Grin

I think it looks good on you!

IWouldLikeToKnow · 26/07/2018 07:42

It looks great on you. I'm jealous that I'd definitely not be able to carry it off.

Ididnthearanything · 26/07/2018 10:33

Didn't get a chance to update after my initial try on. banivani Grin I cam in like a whirlwind, threw on the dress - I take my responsibilities to update v seriously indeed. Grin

I put it on again last night. You know it has pockets?

It is very very flattering on me. I am quite hippy and it's v good.
The kids give it a thumbs up, a def 'keep' and they are harsh critics. The H says it's too long, no surprise there. I'd be in bodycon all day everyday if he were dressing me. Hmm

Thank you for all the compliments.

I think it's a keeper but I'm going to sit on it a couple of nights more. Can't believe it's selling out - maybe they only got 2 of each size into the warehouse!!

I can't tell you how pleased I am that the hype for once was worth it :O I love it when shops get stuff right.

WhentheDealGoesDown · 26/07/2018 12:14

Right, first things first, the navy dress is nice but on me it looked an absolute horror, I'm 5'10' and it came to just below my knee so not really long enough, but worse of all the ruched waist was a bit high and my old lady pot belly made it billow out under the ruching like I was pregnant. It looked nothing like how lovely it looked on Ididnthearanything or WeShouldBeFriends, also I am fairly broad shouldered so the puffy sleeves didn't suit either. You definitely need to be slim waisted and not too tall to wear it I am size 12-14 and got a 14 which seemed to be the right size.

Ididnthearanything · 26/07/2018 12:38

That's a pity WhentheDeal. I can imagine the waist isn't perfect for some shapes. My shoulders are narrow, the current fussy sleeve trend is perfect for me.

OP posts:
Gahbahboo · 26/07/2018 14:29

I got one and tried it on, it looked fine actually, but I can't bear the feel of the material which is quite scratchy and cheap, so it is going back.

tethersend · 27/07/2018 11:38

Is the jumpsuit online yet?

Urbanvoltaire · 27/07/2018 13:53

I've just ordered the ivory one but after reading whenthedealgoesdown , I'm a bit worried as my body shape is the same. Collecting on Sunday.

thedayismine · 27/07/2018 14:08

My navy one has arrived but I have PIL visiting so not yet been able to sneak off to try it .
My feeling seeing it on hanger is that the sleeves will be too fussy and neckline too high even if it works miracles on pot belly and wide hips !
Will update when tried on
Thought ivory looked fab on both PP

WhentheDealGoesDown · 27/07/2018 14:31

It was the billowing under the ruching which was admittedly too high on me that was the worst, it just reminded me of elasticated waists on skirts and trousers that are pulled up a bit too high and tight and then the fabric billows underneath especially if the stomach is not exactly flat. I am 60 though and it made me look older so not a good look at all. I didn't really notice the neckline so that was probably OK, my eyes were too drawn to the waistline.

Safeandwarm · 27/07/2018 14:52

Where is that sodding jumpsuit? Can’t find it on the m&s websites at all.
