You know that M+S dress Instagram is banging on about this summer?

Apparently it’s amazing, suits everyone, v flattering on all shapes, yadda yadda yadda. Sold out in about 3 seconds earlier this summer. I didn’t like it much but the power of advertising....

Well, they’ve brought out another version of it. This one here

Does anyone have it and is it really as good as they say? Help save

  1. me from returns
  2. my money or at least help me spend it wisely
  3. look like a tit

Does anyone have a link to the eBay one though? Haven’t seen it

detdet · 22/07/2018 21:50

Please can someone link the eBay one?

The stripe on the m&s dress looks like it's been out on as an afterthought to cover up dodgy stitching.

Also don't like the fact it stops at the fattest part of the calf.

HabbyHadno · 22/07/2018 21:52

Seriously, it's really flattering. Smile

WeShouldBeFriends · 22/07/2018 21:58

I succumbed to the hype and bought the original one on eBay at a hugely inflated price and I love it actually although it's not my usual kind of thing. I'm 34, 5ft 4, flat stomach but big bum and thighs. Size 10 was fine til dh shrank it. Have just ordered the new one thanks OP!

Judydreamsofhorses · 22/07/2018 22:04

I have dithered about this over the weekend as I really wanted the leopard version. I think the print on this one is a bit washed out looking, and I generally don’t like florals, so I am going to leave it. I am also consciously thinking about autumn clothes now, tbh. (If the leopard one came back I would be right on it though!)

OmnishamblesOverHere · 22/07/2018 22:07

Why are the prints so awful? Is that what I have to look forward to in Australia's upcoming summer or is it just a M+S thing to use fabric that looks like my gran's sheets? Confused

hazyhazza · 22/07/2018 22:21

I like it! Just bought it Blush

LizzieSiddal · 22/07/2018 22:22

I really like it, but don’t think it would suit me as I’m a short arse.

Ellapaella · 22/07/2018 22:39

I haven't seen anyone in real life in that dress. I can't see what's so special about it. Boring pattern with bizarre go faster stripe. Maybe it looks better in real life but the model certainly isn't selling it imo.

buttyblahblah · 22/07/2018 22:44

I would look awful in that!

If you're young, tall and slim with minimal boobs it might be ok.

Sleepthief · 22/07/2018 22:45

Oh! Oh! I've got this one, in the leopard print and it's lovely!

sonjadog · 22/07/2018 22:46

I like it apart from the stripe. Not so good for a larger tummy, I reckon, so not for me.

amymel2016 · 22/07/2018 22:48

I’ve got the leopard print one and I love it, really flattering and I’ve had lots of compliments about it. Love this new one as well.

NicoAndTheNiners · 22/07/2018 22:52

At 5ft and not much more that dress will never suit me, it looks too long for the model. But then a lot of this seasons dresses are like that, they all need to be at least a foot shorter imo.

Ididnthearanything · 22/07/2018 22:56

I see EdWinchester and OnlyBaBaBiss are on the fence about the dress.

I pick it up Wednesday Wink

It's really ugly. The model doesn't even look good in it.

MissVanjie · 23/07/2018 00:11

It’s horrible, there’s way too much going on with it - the small print, the stripe, the weird smocking

And as an aside do ppl really need instagram or whatever to tell them what is flattering or desirable?

MissVanjie · 23/07/2018 00:12

If you chucked a brick in peacocks or h&m you’d hit a nicer dress than that

JemmimaJ · 23/07/2018 01:26

The eBay one is polyester. Hate it. Makes you sweat and feel like your wrapped in plastic. Urggg!!

ChangoMutney · 23/07/2018 01:36

The eBay one is vile, I ordered one when it arrived it looked so cheap - not surprising really as it costs peanuts but I wasn't going to wear it. My 16 year old dd was happy to take it, but I asked her the other day why she hasn't worn it and she said it feels horrible. In this case you get what you pay for.

Monty27 · 23/07/2018 01:40

Awful

banivani · 23/07/2018 07:57

I quite like this. It's either great, or the combination of ruched sleeves + shirred waist + pattern + stripe! + shirring + "frumpy" length will combine to something terrible. Am looking forward to your update, OP! I don't think it's universally flattering... For me for example the fussy sleeves might just make me look very wide and large up top. The shirring looks good though, I have a jumpsuit with shirring that emphasises my waist and thus my arsecurve nicely. Grin Update in this thread please so I can find it!

waterlego6064 · 23/07/2018 08:05

I don’t get the excitement at all. It looks like the sort of thing you find in the ‘blah’ section at H&M. Really ordinary and not particularly flattering.

Heismyopendoor · 23/07/2018 08:13

Oh good God! This thing is disgusting! It’s the most awakened length and the sleeve length is terrible too!! And the pattern and the racing stripe!! Why? WHY?!?!?

You need to post a picture of you wearing it as you bought it lol
