Go for it! No question too silly.......

I totally get how intimidating some counters can be ! Plus I've gone "undercover" recently and gone for a few free makeovers and have wanted to cry when I see myself after and am determined to never make any of my clients or models feel like that.......

I'm not promising I'm a miracle worker but I've got a few years of experience in lots of fields of MUA so if I can help I will x

Ps I think you should start the thread off lovely battleax! X

Please can you recommend a good anti wrinkle cream? I'm 39 and ds keeps me awake a lot and I look old and wrinkled. I'm so tired! Thank you Grin

Andcake · 25/06/2018 21:39

Lovely thread....what's the best way to get eyeliner to stay in place or best brand at staying put..
Thank you

Racecardriver · 25/06/2018 21:44

Great thread

So whenever I put on foundation it highlights dry peeling skin (that I didn't realise was there) and get caught in open pores. I use primer (beauty pie mate finish) and exfoliate. What am I doing wrong?

anxious62 · 25/06/2018 21:49

What non silicone based primer do you recommend?

Jux · 25/06/2018 21:50

Hi, I'm really embarrassed about this, but I have dreadful broken veins on my face, all over. I used to try to hide them by using foundation, but never found anything that actually covered them.

I tried green stuff under, too, but it didn't work too well.

Part of the reason is because I couldn't find a foundation that gives good coverage (full, prob full ++,) that didn't also just come off on everything... at least, not in my smallish Boots, which is the only place in my town that sells make up.

Can you recommend a good foundation that's not too expensive?
Also, how on earth do I choose a shade, when my 'normal' skin colour is covered by broken veins?

And lastly, is there ANYTHING at all that could help get rid of the veins?

Thank you Flowers

StillSmallVoice · 25/06/2018 21:51

Placemarking. This i going to be a very good thread. Thanks very much.

clumsyduck · 25/06/2018 21:58

How do some women get that flawless look ?! Do they have amazing skin to start with ? Are they just good at makeup ??

Even when I try go for a more glam look I still just look very natural which I guess is maybe a good think but I'd like to look more done up sometimes !!

Also how do people do that shaded/blended bit at the start of the eyebrow

AcneHelp · 25/06/2018 21:59

Thank you

VetOnCall · 25/06/2018 22:03

My skin is mostly good but I get a bit of congestion on my chin at times. Would a mask help with this? What's a sheet mask and any recommendations? Thank you!

PlainPiglet · 25/06/2018 22:06

I used to use Prescriptives Real Camellia until they stopped selling it in the UK. Do you have any recommendations for really pale skin - foundation or tinted moisturisers? Thanks.

Namechangeforhair · 25/06/2018 22:10

Also want to know how to get that amazing flawless. I actually quite like the heavy foundation look if it's done nicely.

My question is where do I start with eye make up. It always looks awful! And links if possible to anything you recommend!
TIA

SerenaWaterford · 25/06/2018 22:11

What's the best palest foundation for dry skin?

Why is it that mascara looks fine on right eye (right handed) but crap on left eye (clumps etc) and how can I stop this?

Thank you!xx

HairyButtMonkey · 25/06/2018 22:12

Can you recommend a BB cream (or CC cream - not quite sure of the difference...) for spot prone skin? I have combination skin and find most foundations/creams/tinted moisturisers give me spots. I am 42. Many thanks Smile

What is B.B. cream?

Lollypop701 · 25/06/2018 22:39

I have really oily nose... what’s the best foundation, and best way to apply it please

BerylStreep · 25/06/2018 23:44

My late forties lip line is suddenly starting to look old and getting lipstick bleed. What can I do?

imsconequeen · 26/06/2018 07:53

I've answered some of these questions in the thread already so I'll not bore folk with same prattle!

If foundation is crumbling on skin then you need to moisturise more . Foundation does "go off " after 12 months or so, particularly if not closed properly

B.B. cream stands for blemish balm. It's basically I slightly fuller coverage than tinted moisturiser. I swear by garniers one, over any expensive ones....although Bobbi brown and laura mercier are pretty good.

Thread veins - ipl laser is the only thing that'll get rid of the buggers. Foundations like Estée Lauder doublewear will cover mostly....tap it into skin where extra coverage is needed with cold fingers or a stipple brush.....

Faded lip line........loose powder , then lip line . I sometimes go round line with cotton bud and concealer if wearing a noticeable colour to make it pop more

Best selection of pale foundations - Estée Lauder, mac, sleek. Don't be frightened to mix some and create your own!

Oilier areas tap into area with foundation on brush and apply a few thin layers.....loose powder only on oily areas, embrace the glow and don't cover freckles and areas of good skin!

If you like the more contoured made up look.....your base needs to be pretty heavy and contouring is better with stick colours as opposed to powders. Fixing spray (even hairspray) can keep it in place ! X

Morning imsconequeen Could you please reccomend something for lines,I don't have wrinkles yet(I'm 43)but I do have some lines on my decolletage and they make me feel really self conscious especially with the nice weather and wanting to wear summer dresses.

Also do you know what colour eye shadow would look good(on me)I have olive skin, hazel brown eyes, naturally black eyelashes and eyebrows and naturally Red Auburn hair. For years I've stuck to an Autumn palette but I'd love to wear some more summery colour's on my eyes,I've looked online for years now but anyone I can find always has a different eye colour or cooler skin colour.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

specialsubject · 26/06/2018 11:11

aha, finally learnt what BB stands for. Presumably it wouldn't sell as well if marketed as spot concealer...

imsconequeen · 26/06/2018 11:20

Smashbox Photo filler could be used across your décolletage or any wrinkled areas.....does smooth it out slightly! You can get specific creams from Estée Lauder/clarins/guinot/espa etc for these areas (and sheet masks) but never actually used them

Your colourings sound amazing! I'd go a bit "wild" and step away from the normal autumnal coppery colours and go bright! Like coloured mascaras, bright blue/green/purple eyeliner ! Keeping the rest of the face pretty neutral but you may want to stay more safe......in that case you could carry off most eye colours but golds/greens/khakis are probably most suited

I I'm about to turn 40, pretty good skin, although few acne scars, and freckles . My day look is normally bright mascara, or bright/neon eyeliner and loads mascara. B.B. , bronzer/blusher/highlighter, brow mascara, touche eclat
Never spend more than a few mins but only wear make up a couple days a week! I'm a bit of a tomboy!
I spend lots more time on skincare! X

Thank you for your help Flowers

Bramble71 · 26/06/2018 12:48

Hi and thanks for starting this thread!

I'm 47 and I've long had deep bags and very dark circles under my eyes. I seriously look like I have a black eye, going right in to the very inner corner. I don't wear foundation, it just doesn't seem to work on my skin, going bobbly and looking fake. Is there anything I can pat on to the dark circles to stop them being so obvious, something that will blend in easily. I don't want to wear foundation or BB cream as my skin is otherwise not bad for my age. It is starting to go a little crepey round my lower eye socket.

Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations.

imsconequeen · 26/06/2018 12:55

Hi bramble
A peachy orangey coloured concealer is a good shout to try first tapping it into the darkish areas and close to your eye. Leave it to dry for a min or so then follow with your normal light reflecting concealer/powder if you use that x

This thread is an absolute DREAM

My face the whole way through has been Shock or Grin

Thank you, lovely fountain of MA wizardry Flowers

My Q is: What's your fave sheet mask? I'm a bit bamboozled by all of the different options and technical terms and the MASSIVE difference in prices...
