Go for it! No question too silly.......

I totally get how intimidating some counters can be ! Plus I've gone "undercover" recently and gone for a few free makeovers and have wanted to cry when I see myself after and am determined to never make any of my clients or models feel like that.......

I'm not promising I'm a miracle worker but I've got a few years of experience in lots of fields of MUA so if I can help I will x

Ps I think you should start the thread off lovely battleax! X

Thankyou imsconqueen Flowers I love the idea of going a bit wild with the eyeshadows I shall be treating myself tomorrow and thanks for the recommendation's for the masks and creams.

Almahart · 26/06/2018 18:35

Which make up counter would you go to if you were 50 and wanted a bit of a revamp which was modern and still natural?

I’ve got typical Celtic dark hair ;) and pale freckly skin. Still think I’m 35 but seem to be fading away!

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 26/06/2018 18:40

I am incredibly pale but with rosy cheeks. I find foundation too heavy but not sure whether to use CC or BB cream and should I use a primer? Blue eyes honey blonde hair, what colour mascara/eyeliner should I wear?

Thanks op, great thread! Flowers

imsconequeen · 26/06/2018 19:30

I do think it's worth the money to pay a Mua for a couple hours for revamp!
Failing that I'd go to a counter that is predominantly make up (like benefit) as opposed to one that's more skincare. Earlier on in the thread a poster who works on a counter gave good advice and suggested that you go to person whose make up you like the look of!!

Fuck me do you need a base? How good is your skin? I'm not mad keen on primer tbh, maybe if you're going clubbing/all day wedding but I think it fills down the skin and can often bobble x

Forgot to add wellfuckme that you can wear any colour you want eyeliner/mascara! But "conventionally" dark brown mascara with navy /brown eyeliner
Green eyeliner would look nice too with a dramatic black mascara x

Any suggestions for really clogged pores, for both getting rid of them and hiding them when wearing make up? X

Almahart · 26/06/2018 19:49

Thank you imsconequeen Smile

LabradorMama · 26/06/2018 20:05

Great thread!
My question is ref concealer for under eye dark circles and melasma. Mine always sinks into my lines and looks awful. I've tried different concealers, primers, powders etc but always the same. I put my eye cream on, allow to dry. Then SPF, allow to dry. Then pat on concealer (NARS radiant touch at the minute) allow to dry, then powder with Laura Mercier translucent powder on a fluffy MAC concealer brush.
What am I doing wrong??

AngryCrispLady · 27/06/2018 09:04

Can this thread please be moved to Style and Beauty so it’s not lost after 90 days? Ta x

imsconequeen · 27/06/2018 13:01

Sprinklesunday use products with salicylic acid in them to try to remove dirt from pores. Also make sure you use a base that's non comedogenic (non pore blocking)
Face masks (charcoal based) are good for this area too

Labradormumma how much eye cream are you using? Should be less than grain of rice? You can blot the under eye area with a tissue first as it sounds like the layer of products aren't drying properly before concealing hence why it settles in the creases x

Thank you! X

Battleax · 27/06/2018 14:11

My weleda skin food just arrived. Fabulous stuff. Rich, like the most moisturising products I’ve tried but with far less clagginess. I’m already hopeful that this will solve my foundation problems.

Thanks for the recommendation imsconequeen Smile

I’ve just got to wait for the rest of my haul now.

dundermiflin · 27/06/2018 14:45

@GallicosCats you need to use a curling wand on your lashes. Mine are the same (I'm also a make up artist), and if you can get it use Eye of Horus mascara.

Sorry to thread jack op. As you were.

WolfMcWolferson · 27/06/2018 14:59

I'd love some tips about keeping foundation/make up on all day for upcoming wedding, sorry if this has already been asked upthread!

Setting spray? Primer? What's my best bet?

Winchester13 · 27/06/2018 15:05

Do you wear mascara on bottom eyelashes or eyeliner on bottom? Thank you :)

imsconequeen · 27/06/2018 19:26

Battleax I hope you enjoy it! I use it as night cream personally but do use it pre foundation for those who really need it.

I don't wear eyeliner or mascara on bottom lashes/lid.....I sometimes wear a very light pinky white on my inner rim as I think it makes me whites of my eyes look whiter and more awake.

Wearing dark liner on bottom lashes or inner rim can make eyes look smaller and can be ageing

Urban decay setting spray....is probably your best bet. Some people use primer religiously but I said upthread I don't really like the texture of a base on top of that so I don't really use it! Others love it so don't take my word for it plus the looks we do at work don't need to last long as we then change their look for the next pic x

Please can you recommend a really good concealer and I also need a really good sunscreen. Thanks.

imsconequeen · 27/06/2018 19:48

Depends what your concealing? Spots, thread veins, dark eyes......? I use several different ones ! What are you using it for?

I like dr murad, la Roche posay and Kiehls for facial spf

Thanks for the suggestions.

WolfMcWolferson · 27/06/2018 21:14

Thanks very much imsconecream, I'll give Urban Decay a try!

NameChanger22 · 27/06/2018 23:23

The concealer is for dark circles under my eyes. I've never had spots and my skin is good apart from the dark under my eyes and a bit of dry skin. I used to use Touche Eclate when I was younger, but now I feel like I need more coverage. Thanks.

mmmgoats · 27/06/2018 23:52

Love this thread thank you!
I struggle with eyeliner “moving” into the inner corner of my eye and sometimes onto my lower water line when i “tightline” around the eyelash - am i doing it wrong or is there a way to prevent this? thank you

Also what core products would you suggest for someone fair of complexion but prone to redness, (nose and cheeks - foundation never stays put on my nose!!) who also gets hormonal break outs - I’m looking to simplify my make up for a fresher look but don’t know where to start.

Maybe with changing up my skincare - but again, don’t really know where to start! Thank you so much for taking the time with this thread it’s so useful

eloisesparkle · 28/06/2018 00:14

What can I do for those fine lip lines please.

imsconequeen · 28/06/2018 14:02

Eloisesparkle you can now get lip sheet masks which do help but not that long lasting! A solid colour can draw attention to them do sometimes a glossy
Colour works better x

Mmmgoats what eyeliner are you using? Is this when your applying it or during the day?

imsconequeen · 28/06/2018 14:03

Namechanger I'd stick with touché eclat but put on a peachier/orangey creamy one first x
