Go for it! No question too silly.......

I totally get how intimidating some counters can be ! Plus I've gone "undercover" recently and gone for a few free makeovers and have wanted to cry when I see myself after and am determined to never make any of my clients or models feel like that.......

I'm not promising I'm a miracle worker but I've got a few years of experience in lots of fields of MUA so if I can help I will x

Ps I think you should start the thread off lovely battleax! X

Hey there sconequeen,

Not sure if you still in touch with the thread - I saw it and been slowly working through it - great advice!! I wanted to ask you about cream eye shadows. Not sure if it’s my moisturiser or age or cheap eyeshadow since my old favourite has been discontinued but shadows seem to be clumping - like my lid is too oily? (I use Boots moisturisers. Was using Liz Earle tinted moisturiser mixed with High Beam but recently run out so going to try a garnier BB as you’ve recommended). Anyway I ran out of eyeshadow and used some of my Benefit Highbeam instead and really like it. You said you did something similar to look more awake. Def works. Any cream eyeshadows you’d recommend?? The High Beam works and I like the effect but it’s not even and doesn’t last very well. Never tried one before but wondered if they’d work well. Am pale - brown eyes - 40s - tired fm toddler.

Great thread by the way. Really helpful Grin

Hi squidgersmummy!
I'd blot your eyelids with tissue to start with.....and add a bit of primer to your lids.......let that dry, then pat on your cream shadow.

I just use the same under eye concealer I use on my toddler induced dark bags on my lids.....it covers the pinky veiny bluey bits and makes me look more "awake"

What mascara do you think is the best ?

imsconequeen · 19/07/2018 20:33

I never ever wear mascara without curling first

Depending on what look I want to create these are my fav mascaras - from £2 - £22!

Ysl false lash effect
Lancôme Hypnose drama
Mac extreme dimension
Collection 2000 extreme
Mary Kay lash love
Essence lash princess
L’Oreal lash architect

(I have an addiction to mascaras) can you tell?!

I never use /wear waterproof. I think it flakes/crumbles

beanaseireann · 19/07/2018 21:13

Thank you OP
I have tried the Collection 2000, the Lancôme Hypnose, the Essence one, the Lash Architect and the YSL.
I still love my Chanel Le Volume.
Have you tried it ?

imsconequeen · 20/07/2018 09:22

I do like Le volume. I prefer the sample wand size if it....can get really close to the root and wiggle! X

They have a new Chanel mascara out. Again sample size is great.

I am 60+ and didn't look my age till I lost weight. I always had a slim face and never put weight on my face, just everywhere else. After losing about a stone and half my cheeks sank a bit, one side got creases and the other sort of orange peely( op now realises only a head transplant will work). I have put the weight back on but none has gone on my face. I tried Avon antiwrinkle and got an allergic reaction. Will any thing help? Is there a good foundation? Creams? Any tips at all, lovely op?

NameandAddressWitheld56 · 21/07/2018 17:31

I have a wide forehead and have three horizontal wrinkles which are permanently creased. Is there any way I can utilise makeup to hide these deep creases?

Also, open pores all over tzone - what do you recommend?

Tryingoutanothername · 21/07/2018 18:26

Already had one question answered (thank you)...
As a 50 year old red head, pls can you advise which foundation to go for.
Everything I have used lately has made me look flat and dry...
have a reddish face due to not protecting from the sun properly when younger.
Thsnk you

imsconequeen · 21/07/2018 20:14

Hi jayfee
Peachy or pinky blush on your apple of your cheeks will help as will a foundation one shade lighter on the hollowed cheek area only (I hope this makes sense?!)

Using a primer may help the makeup not sink into the creases too!

I'm sure it's not as obvious as you think! X

OP posts:
imsconequeen · 21/07/2018 20:17

Tryingoutanothername I'd apply a little bit of green correcting concealer on the reddish areas and then a nice glowy unflat foundation such as bourjois healthy mix.....or if you really like a current foundation just add a tiny bit of highlighter to it, mix, then apply x

Don't use much powder over the creases......apply a non silicone based primer to forehead before make up

Is it skincare advice or make up advice for open pores? X

Sorry if this has been asked, but I have two questions;

  • what specific brand product (not too expensive if poss) to help keep foundation in place when living in a very hot climate? (or any tricks to this)

  • I have dark circles under my eyes, when I was younger I could stick any old concealer there, but in the last year the one I've used for years goes crinkly in very fine lines under eyes. I don't sleep well and am super tired in that area, please help!! Don't mind paying for the best products for this as I want to go back to looking fresh! At the moment I can only wear my normal foundation there, which just doesn't do the job.

Jayfee · 21/07/2018 21:28

Thank you imsconequeen, I will buy some paler foundation and give it a try.

GrandmistressGlitch · 21/07/2018 21:45

Thank you!!

What do you suggest as an alternative to Shu Uemura eyelash curlers, since they are discontinued?

SheStoodInTheStorm · 21/07/2018 21:51

Adding highlighter to foundation is something I'd love to try but I'm worried about looking like a glitterball!

Do you have any product recommendations?

Tryingoutanothername · 21/07/2018 21:54

Thank you!

imsconequeen · 22/07/2018 13:18

Grandmistressglitch
Kevin aucoin eyelash curlers are pretty good, as are shisheido's . High street wise my favourite are body shop! X

Shestoodinthestorm
Mac strobe cream is pretty good (id use a quarter of amount of foundation you use) or apply thin layer of strobe cream before foundation instead of mixing two together
