This is the River Island bag I use for work.

It's pink with rose gold trims. Not sure if it's classy exactly but it gets lots of compliments!

My beautiful Mulberry-I love it so!
It was a gift from DH for a special birthday rather than me being extravagant though!

Real leather, simple style. Understated if designer (no big logos etc)

I like totes but also liking the drawstring-type bucket shoulder bags this year.

White Stuff Bailey Bag - I don't have one though!

Real leather, simple style. No big logos etc. Totally agree with this. I like that Mulberry bag.

PugwallsSummer · 23/06/2018 10:27

I love the Celine bag - way out of my price range unfortunately. Might look at the Etsy leather sellers for something in a similar shape..,

ScreamingValenta · 23/06/2018 10:30

@MsJolly That's a beautiful bag. If you don't mind my asking, do you find it a practical bag to use? It looks strong - is it comfortable, easy to carry, fits a lot etc.?

Member · 23/06/2018 10:32

That Bailey is closest to what I would think classy:
Leather (soft/the kind that gains a patina that improves with age)
Lack of blingy hardware/logos
Practical to carry (not a crook of arm only style)
Simple/clean aesthetic

ShadowKitty · 23/06/2018 10:33

I love this Mulberry one... expensive though... Are you looking for a new bag? What budget? LK Bennett do nice ones too.

Minnie747 · 23/06/2018 10:43

Quality leather, and I agree - no big logos! I prefer stuctured bags.

Minnie747 · 23/06/2018 10:47

Also I don't know what @msJolly thinks about the Bayswater..I really do like mine, but it's incredibly heavy leather.

Saying that, it wears wonderfully, is very robust and will last a lifetime if you look after it! It's also very roomy.

Something that’s understated, excellent quality, no bling or obvious logos, and not ubiquitous. And it has to be reasonably practical (for its purpose, so that includes small evening bags as well as day bags) as well, otherwise it’s pointless.

woodywoo2 · 23/06/2018 10:53

Real leather with very small logo/decoration!

I'd love a mulberry!

MsJolly · 23/06/2018 11:02

@ScreamingValenta it is such a beautiful bag and very hard wearing. It is also very practical in that you can fit loads of stuff in it-including small A4 files if I'm going to a meeting etc.
The only thing it doesn't have is dividers inside so you can have stuff milling around in the bottom, so I carry a small makeup bag inside and a pencil case so pens don't mark the leather inside.

MsJolly · 23/06/2018 11:03

I also have an Anthony for day use Blush

MinaPaws · 23/06/2018 11:03

MsJolly that is a stunning bag. That's my idea of a classy bag, definitely. Within my price range, I like this. I know Radley is hated on MN, but if you ignore or remove the dog, their bags are often really classic, unfussy designs made of good leather for a very low price. I love them.

namethatchild · 23/06/2018 11:08

I have the same bag as MsJolly - used it pretty much every day for the last 3.5 years and it’s still going strong. My only complaint is that it’s quite heavy even when empty. Oxblood is the best colour! It gets complimented a lot. Next on my wish list is a Lily in clay. One day!

sunshinesupermum · 23/06/2018 11:14

Love the Coach bag - used to have them - they last forever.
Oly5 is the hobo large enough to hold a laptop?

HushabyeMountainGoat · 23/06/2018 11:37

Mulberry definitely isn't in my price range, but that sort of style with minimal detailing looks good. I've got a plain tan coloured tote bag from Warehouse that looks nice and is quite practical. Its not no irritating lining either.

SoddingUnicorns · 23/06/2018 11:41

I have this one in eggnog which is out of stock

Although I did remove the large shiny DKNY key ring as it felt a bit try hard to me. It’s really practical but also well made and I’m really enjoying it.
