I love the Modalu Pippa bags

I have the same Coach Hobo Turnlock that Oly shared a photo of and a Mulberry Tessie tote in Oxblood. I love them both. The Tassie is in lovely pebble leather, very roomy and the branding isn't ostentatious.

I have a few Coach bags and they're lovely. Simple designs in leather; one is a fab shade of turquoise!

I also have a Strathberry Nano tote. It's the large size, ruby red, all one colour as opposed to the one Meghan carried in her engagement photos which was more than 1 colour.

I think a simple tote, no showy branding, a fair size and in leather will always look classy, even if carried with jeans, t-shirt and a blazer. I have a couple of saffaiano leather bags but the nature of the leather makes them quite rigid so I'm not sure they always look quite as good, though.

I agree. The Kelly exudes timeless elegance. I feel like a true 'lady' every time I carry mine. Totes never look classy or elegant in my opinion but they're far more versatile for everyday use.

I remember that pic sexnotgender !!!
I wasn't there on that occasion but we must know each other :)

zenasfuck · 23/06/2018 18:08

@RoseWhiteTips

  • Yes, they are a tad ostentatious, in my view. Not my style at all but I guess someone with 10 of the things doesn’t do simplicity! Classic preppy style is much more me.*

Maybe you could apply your classy style and avoid having snobby digs at other posters with differing tastes ?

SpeckledyHen · 23/06/2018 18:09

2 of my classy bags ( IMO )

@rosewhitetips how dreadfully rude of you! I have 10 bags because they are for different occasions, there really is no need to be rude about it because your taste differs.

sexnotgender · 23/06/2018 18:28

Ooh speckledyhen how interesting! The photo is from a meet in Dublin about 5 years agoSmile I’m on TPF and MMW though haven’t been a regular on the former for a while.

You've just reminded me of my love for TPF - it's so very enabling, I'm sorry to say. I must get back on there! Grin

Mulberry lost its classiness when everyone started getting them. Practical but too popular now.

A classy bag is understated but individual. It is a reflection of the person wearing it. Common and sturdy is possibly not the image most would aim for.

ChocolateWombat · 23/06/2018 19:41

Sorry, but when a thread title asks what people consider to be a classy bag, I think it's perfectly acceptable to say when you think something isn't classy - isn't that the whole point of the thread.....not just to say 'yes, everything everyone likes is classy' - not sure that would be very helpful.
And of course people will disagree.

I didn't think the comment about having 10 bags was rude....its just another take on what classy might mean...more food for thought.

SoddingUnicorns · 23/06/2018 19:43

I think saying something isn’t classy because it doesn’t cost the Earth is a bit Hmm

RoseWhiteTips · 23/06/2018 19:50

Thanks guys for seeing what others cannot see. It’s all a bit Emperor’s new clothes, really. Totes agree - haha - that something loses its cachet when it becomes ubiquitous.

RoseWhiteTips · 23/06/2018 19:52

And no I am not being “rude”; on the contrary, I’m being honest.

daysgettingshorter · 23/06/2018 19:52

I'd love one of these in my next life.

This is my dream bag, a D&G Agata apparently. It's way out of my price range and I've never even seen it in person, but I love the shape and size, the single strap, the silver hardware. Sigh.

I love vintage Nicole Farhi bags, and I bid for them on eBay. Buttery soft leather, practical and aren't instantly identifiable a la Mulberry or Longchamp etc, but looking at it you instantly know it's a special bag.

auditqueen · 23/06/2018 20:06

Another vote for a Modalu Pippa - even though, as a republican I strongly disagree with the whole royal family stuff. It's exactly the right size. Discreet. Understated in shark grey. Three roomy compartments and just lovely.

ThenCameTheFools · 23/06/2018 20:23

I am now in love with both the Coach and the Radley.

I wasn't even going to buy a bag this summer. Now I am channelling my dear mother who would say "darling, if you like it and can afford it, buy it, it will give you so much pleasure and it's far better to buy one nice thing than 10 inferior ones"

Hobbes8 · 23/06/2018 20:23

Some of the bags on this thread are lovely. Others aren’t really to my taste.

The bitchiness isn’t particularly classy though.

ShirleyPhallus · 23/06/2018 20:31

My mulberry Bayswater has been a great investment - classy and heard wearing

I really dislike tote bags as I think they look quite saggy - much prefer structured bags

MynameisJune · 23/06/2018 20:50

I’ve got a Bayswater, a mulberry Mitzi and a Roxanne which was my first ever designer bag. I’ve also got a PS1 and a 2.55, plus a couple of YSL leather totes that I mainly use for summer months.

What they all have in common that I think makes them classy is that they are all one classic colour ie black or tan or variants like oxblood. Minimal bling and no huge logo’s anywhere.

I never buy cheaper handbags from high street stores. I prefer high end as they last and wear, I can pass these bags down to my DD and they will still look amazing.

MynameisJune · 23/06/2018 20:50

Wear well I should have put

ScreamingValenta · 23/06/2018 21:15

I've got a Modalu Pippa - thrilled that it's been mentioned on the classy thread Grin. It is a really good bag; very practical and holds loads, but smart enough for work.

RJnomore1 · 23/06/2018 21:21

I bought a teal modalu Pippa at Christmas and it's complimented everywhere I take it.

You do need to buy the leather one though the cheaper ones aren't leather. It's been a great bag both practical and striking
