This is really embarrassing but could you please tell me which dress you prefer?

I would never normally do this, being the size of an elephant and everything, but I have a wedding very soon and need to pick a dress. Have had mixed opinions so far so hoping to get more opinions (sorry about the state of my living room as well)

Please try not to laugh at my headless pictures, I've name changed as I post quite a lot and don't want to be outed

The green I feel more comfortable in as it doesn't cling, is comfy and is my favourite colour. But the high neckline makes my already huge boobs look matronly (I am wearing a new, well fitting bra so it's not the bra making them look saggy but the dress!)

The blue I prefer the neckline but feel the top is too big and the bottom part too small (hate that you can see my tummy as well )

I have ginger hair, blue eyes and as you can see, Casper skin!!

Any tips on how you would style either dress? I have no idea! I can only wear small heels but would prefer flats even though I don't think they would go. The shoes I'm wearing are just to see what the dresses look like with tights and shoes! Oh, and to make it more difficult I need size 9 extra wide fit so not many places I can buy shoes from Sad

Please help me!!

both look great, the shoes and tights are bad though.

The blue is possibly a better shape on you/more flattering.

The black tights are awful, it looks like you're wearing PVC tights.

helloworld88 · 13/06/2018 22:30

I think you look amazing in the green one! It's a lovely fit and gives you a nice waist too!

Fairylea · 13/06/2018 22:31

I am going to be brave and say neither really does a lot for you. You have a great figure, you’re talking about yourself as if you’re enormous (not that it would matter if you were as long as you were confident and happy!) but you’re really not, you have a good waist and shape.

I have been everything from a size 18 to a size 8 and in between and I would really, really steer clear of plus size shops like Simply Be and Yours etc unless you are out of the normal size range in “normal” (hate that word!) shops. All the clothes are cut so they hang / drape round a much larger figure and at your size you don’t need them to do that!

For example, for me the green dress would be better if it was shorter, straight hemmed rather than up and down, and a lower cut neckline - ie more fitted all over.

But that’s just my own opinion and others won’t agree and that’s fine! Grin

lunatunes · 13/06/2018 22:31

Definitely the green, it looks fab on you!

Carboholic · 13/06/2018 22:35

Green, but with thin nude tights rather than these black ones, and simple wedges (think they would go better than flats, but flats would work too). A large necklace to draw the eye?

LizzieSiddal · 13/06/2018 22:41

Would you have a spray tan in your legs? I’m pale not had a very pale spray tan done for a wedding last year. It looked great and is so much better than tights.
I tried it a couple of weeks before so I knew exactly how it would look.

hairypaws · 13/06/2018 22:41

Green, you look lovely in it. Enjoy

BowKay · 13/06/2018 22:43

Green 100% Gives you loads more shape and definition.

IWillSurviv · 13/06/2018 22:44

The green definitely, lovely colour and style.

oooompa · 13/06/2018 22:45

I most definitely appreciate the advice Smile I'm currently a size 20-22 (20 is a squeeze depending the cut of clothes, I can't fit in size 20 trousers or jeans at all Blush) I know what you mean about plus size shops having baggy clothes, i browse in New Look a lot and buy my clothes from there but they're all baggy. I know they do nothing for me but I hide in them!

I don't know if I have the will to look for another dress, I'm already stressed enough looking for shoes Grin I wish I could try lots of different styles on but I can only get to one shoe shop locally that stocks my size and they only have a small selection in store so I rely on online ordering (I currently have 2 pairs of sand shoes to send back because they didn't fit me)

I'm looking forward to finding some nice jewellery though, jewellery will be a lot more fun to shop for!

Don;t look for another dress, the green one is fab and makes you look fab which is even better.

oooompa · 13/06/2018 22:47

@Tippexy bra is definitely the best fitting, I treated myself to a few nice bras for the odd occasion I went out without the baby (so never!Grin) and I was a bra fitter in a past life (not with Marks and Spencer's!!) so I'm confident I'm in the right size Smile

Def green xxx

RoseWhiteTips · 13/06/2018 22:53

The green one is my favourite for a wedding - the blue one is lovely but looks heavier. The handkerchief hemline of the green is very fashionable at the moment.

Go for nude tights, as others have suggested too.

loubielou31 · 13/06/2018 23:04

I actually think you need a really bold necklace that will create the neckline shape that suits you best. So a long string of beads or an Egyptian style choker or something V shaped, which ever you like.
Oh and I think green like everyone else.

Purpleneonpinkunicorns · 13/06/2018 23:12

Another vote for the green dress, it is very flattering for you.

amazonianwoman · 13/06/2018 23:15

You look lovely in the green. And another vote for Airbrush legs fake tan stuff. Works a treat on my white (grey) legs, even masks broken veins and doesn't streak like real fake tan.

bathildab · 13/06/2018 23:30

The kimono dress posted above is lovely - failing which I'd choose the blue with nude tights. I'll be honest and say the green is too tight on top. If you look at the model there is much more fabric draping which is more flattering. I don't like the high tight neckline although the colour is nice.

Orlandointhewilderness · 13/06/2018 23:52

fairylea i am a dressmaker and that is one thing i think people who are larger forget - well fitted clothes are so much more flattering.
yes a seamstress will be able to alter the neckline no problem!

2blueshoes · 14/06/2018 00:00

Oooh the green is lovely. The blue top but I vote the green.

Aurea · 14/06/2018 00:07

Green!

Applepudding2018 · 14/06/2018 00:09

They both look nice but the green sort of stands out as being particularly flattering - both the colour and the style. So if you are going for just one then the green - but the other one looks quite nice too (would add necklace though).

INeedNewShoes · 14/06/2018 00:18

Being large of boob I normally avoid high necklines but I really like the green dress on you. Somehow the overall effect is just lovely and the neckline doesn't matter.

Definitely clear tights or no tights though. I think M&S do 7 denier sandal toe tights which I really like as they're so lightweight but give nice coverage.

wentmadinthecountry · 14/06/2018 00:34

The V in the blue is flattering - narrow low V necks always are - but I too (and a similar size) like the green, just not the high neck. Maybe a bit shorter too.

I totally agree with what previous posters have said about larger size companies - they lack definition on the whole.

WanderingTrolley1 · 14/06/2018 00:38

They’re both lovely dresses M.D. you look fab in both!! I think the green slightly pips the blue, though!
