This is really embarrassing but could you please tell me which dress you prefer?

I would never normally do this, being the size of an elephant and everything, but I have a wedding very soon and need to pick a dress. Have had mixed opinions so far so hoping to get more opinions (sorry about the state of my living room as well)

Please try not to laugh at my headless pictures, I've name changed as I post quite a lot and don't want to be outed

The green I feel more comfortable in as it doesn't cling, is comfy and is my favourite colour. But the high neckline makes my already huge boobs look matronly (I am wearing a new, well fitting bra so it's not the bra making them look saggy but the dress!)

The blue I prefer the neckline but feel the top is too big and the bottom part too small (hate that you can see my tummy as well )

I have ginger hair, blue eyes and as you can see, Casper skin!!

Any tips on how you would style either dress? I have no idea! I can only wear small heels but would prefer flats even though I don't think they would go. The shoes I'm wearing are just to see what the dresses look like with tights and shoes! Oh, and to make it more difficult I need size 9 extra wide fit so not many places I can buy shoes from Sad

Please help me!!

Try a personal shopper?

QOD · 14/06/2018 09:08

ANither vote for green. but agree. ditch the tights - they make legs looks chunkier due to the sheen and pattern/lines

You look absolutely amazing at a size 22. Is haven estimated a 16 max

Excuse typos. Bloody iPhone is possesses

watchingwithinterest · 14/06/2018 09:13

Green dress, I would have a light spray tan on your legs and go for a nude kitten heel or similar.

Rather like Kate Middleton does the nude court, this would look great with a lovely clutch. Nice blow-dry job done!

Well done and have some confidence Flowers

MrsMaryMooFace · 14/06/2018 09:19

Green, it's lovely. How about these wedges? In stock in an extra wide size 9!

MollyHuaCha · 14/06/2018 09:20

You have good taste OP. I like both dresses, but the green one wins it for me.

MsJuniper · 14/06/2018 09:24

I'm not sure a different neckline would work on the green dress as the way it works is to create a slimmer waist with the tie bit and I can't see that working with a low neckline. The slit near the top stops it being matronly imho.

I really think it's fine as it is, although I feel like your new bra maybe needs a bit of adjustment, I know you said it's been fitted properly but I am not convinced it's sitting right and I don't think it's your breasts!

moofolk · 14/06/2018 09:26

Haven't RTFT but from the pics at the top I'd say green, definitely.

It's lovely and suits you.

MyKingdomForBrie · 14/06/2018 09:35

Hoping for an after pic with shoes and no black tights!! You look fab OP.

oooompa · 14/06/2018 09:37

I'm definitely ditching the tights, I think I'll experiment with some gradual tanner so I don't have the stress of tights.

@MrsMaryMooFace I especially love the Rose gold wedges you posted, do you think they would be comfy to walk in? I haven't worn heels for over 3 years and don't want to be tottering around like Bambi Grin

@SporkInTheToaster I've had nearly a lifetime of being told I wasn't good enough by the person I was meant to be closest to Sad DP always tells me off for being so negative about myself, it's just automatic for me! I'm trying to be better, I've got 2 daughters and I don't want them to be so self conscious.

@oooompa I buy a lot of shoes from there and generally they are reasonably comfortable! Wedges are the best bet for heels as your weight is a little bit more supported than on a skinny stilletto! If you get them let us know Smile

CrepuscularCritter · 14/06/2018 10:14

I'm thinking you look fab in the green, and the 50s styling will be impeccably glamorous. One other option for your shoes could be Asos. I find their wide range really is comfortable, and bought lots of stylish flats from them.

harrietm87 · 14/06/2018 10:28

Haven't rtft but love the green - will be stunning with your hair and not matronly at all. I actually think the blue is more matronly as more cleavage.

RussellTheLoveMuscle · 14/06/2018 11:34

Another vote for the kimono dress, it's beautiful and be alot cooler for summer. You'd look amazing!

Slanetylor · 14/06/2018 11:40

I love both dresses! Keep the other for the next occasion. The blue dress does need a little something extra maybe, a sparkly belt maybe. But both are really beautiful.

RaspberryBeret34 · 14/06/2018 11:43

The green! Love love the colour. I second (third?) whoever suggested getting it altered by a seamstress to be a V neck. I can see it being a really versatile dress so think it'd be worth the money (I reckon it'd be £20-£30). They could slit the middle at the top and see how it'd look with the edges sorted of folded out to make a kind of V neck collar, if that makes sense. The high neck does look fine but I can see a V neck just being absolutely perfect on you.

I'd wear with bare legs and wedge or block heeled gold sandals. Something like this:

OnlyMakeBelieve · 14/06/2018 12:03

You're not the size of an elephant and the green is gorgeous. First thing I saw was your fantastic waist so forget any worry about your boobs (which are fantastic too).

Serendipite · 14/06/2018 12:33

green

SporkInTheToaster · 14/06/2018 12:57

Well, shame on them oooompa. You look lovely in your dresses. Enjoy the wedding Flowers

adviceonthepox · 14/06/2018 13:02

The green is the nicer of the two. Have you looked at any Scarlett & jo dresses? They are very flattering especially for your shape and I think you would find some lovely dresses much more suited for a wedding. I would say both the dresses you have tried on look more work wear than wedding wear.

littlebillie · 14/06/2018 13:07

They are both nice though the blue more work dress, green is lovely get some great shoes and bag and you'll feel fab.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 14/06/2018 14:09

How brave are you feeling OP? I found this by chance, check out the customer photo, she’s a size 20 and I think looks lovely in this dress. Maybe not for your event unless it’s scorchio on the day but so pretty for your shape and a bargain!

Oops my link didn’t go to the nude ones! Don’t buy the pink to go with the super green dress 😂
