This is really embarrassing but could you please tell me which dress you prefer?

I would never normally do this, being the size of an elephant and everything, but I have a wedding very soon and need to pick a dress. Have had mixed opinions so far so hoping to get more opinions (sorry about the state of my living room as well)

Please try not to laugh at my headless pictures, I've name changed as I post quite a lot and don't want to be outed

The green I feel more comfortable in as it doesn't cling, is comfy and is my favourite colour. But the high neckline makes my already huge boobs look matronly (I am wearing a new, well fitting bra so it's not the bra making them look saggy but the dress!)

The blue I prefer the neckline but feel the top is too big and the bottom part too small (hate that you can see my tummy as well )

I have ginger hair, blue eyes and as you can see, Casper skin!!

Any tips on how you would style either dress? I have no idea! I can only wear small heels but would prefer flats even though I don't think they would go. The shoes I'm wearing are just to see what the dresses look like with tights and shoes! Oh, and to make it more difficult I need size 9 extra wide fit so not many places I can buy shoes from Sad

Please help me!!

The green is fabulous on you. I'm size 18 and have a couple of weddings coming up and i'd love the green one. Could you post a link.

Ohyesiam · 13/06/2018 19:40

But yes , if you have to wear black tights go very very sheer.

CoolCarrie · 13/06/2018 19:41

i love the shade of green and the style of the blue. Great shoes, handbag and bare legs or light tights and you will look fab.

taybert · 13/06/2018 19:41

Green but bare legs and peep toe courts. I have been known to put concealer on my leg bruises.

troodiedoo · 13/06/2018 19:41

Both are lovely and you have a gorgeous figure. I would wear with nude heels or block sandals. Definitely no black tights. Skin coloured tights, you can get ones that look invisible or with a bit of a tan.

Primark control pants are fabulous. And consider a m and s cool slip underneath, always makes a dress hang better.

MatildaLovesBooks · 13/06/2018 19:42

You are not the size of an elephant. Don’t say that again!

The green one is beautiful. I would go for simply jewellery with it. Some nice makeup with nude/light pink lip and style your hair.

GuntyMcGee · 13/06/2018 19:42

I think the green is the better one, and the colour would look lovely with your colouring. However, I don't think it's the neckline that's the issue with it, I think it's the sleeves and the part across the armpits that don't quite look right as it looks super baggy on you there. If the across bust and sleeve area were altered to fit better, I think you'd feel better about the neckline maybe.

If you team that dress with a chunky gold necklace and some peeptoe shoes it'd look very formal and almost vintage without trying too hard. But think about losing the black tights, they're too dark and make it look too sombre for a wedding.

willowpillow · 13/06/2018 19:42

You look lovely in the green. I don't think your bust looks matronly because the eye is drawn to the waist detail and not the bust. I agree with ditching the black tights though, too wintery. How about nude tights or a spray tan if you are self conscious. And I vote for either gold or nude sandals.

treeofhearts · 13/06/2018 19:43

The green. It looks great and I would accessorise with silver jewelry.

oooompa · 13/06/2018 19:44

I'm sorry you really are all so lovely, I just wanted to say that! I've really struggled with my self esteem since even before getting pregnant as I lost a lot of weight and then gained it all back again. I'm a stone down since DD arrived but still very heavy so to hear such lovely things is so touching Smile

I am worried about being too warm, especially with thick black tights. I would never wear a sleeveless dress even if I would be more comfortable, purely because my arms are very big so I always wear sleeves. I thought a dress with sleeves would look a bit more stylish than wearing a cardigan or coverup with something with shorter sleeves?

I have some gradual tanner I might try, I've tried doing my legs before and it always comes out patchy despite exfoliating.

Would nude tights look silly? I've always really liked the whole Kate Middleton nude court shoe look but it seems to get slated a lot.

The green! You look lovely in it. Go for nude coloured tights, not black though... and try some wedges/block sandals for comfortable heels.

MildlyFedUp · 13/06/2018 19:45

The green, definitely. I bet it looks lovely with your colouring!

Dontbuymesocks · 13/06/2018 19:45

Definitely the green - it’s a lovely dress and you look gorgeous in it. You also don’t look anything like an elephant - I’d assume you were a 16, not a 20/22

amyddss · 13/06/2018 19:46

The green, you look lovely!

mittensofsteel · 13/06/2018 19:46

I like the blue one

I think you should

  1. Tie a sash/belt around it with a - you have a nicely defined waist
  1. Wear good quality sheer tights in a dull gold tone
  1. Wear peep toe shoes with a very small heel
  1. Wear gold necklace and earrings
NewDOOFUSfor18 · 13/06/2018 19:48

Firstly, you are not the size of an elephant! You have a beautiful and curvy figure to be proud of! Secondly, the green dress is stunning on you 😍😍

Dilligaf81 · 13/06/2018 19:48

The green one is nice and if you feel more comfortable in it you will enjoy yourself more.
Personally i think it needs a gold necklace maybe a layered one to take the eye away from the high neckline and strappy gold shoes. I think the tights make it look less wedding more workwear.

JaretsGirlfren · 13/06/2018 19:48

Another vote for green! Looking great! Smile

WhiskeySourpuss · 13/06/2018 19:48

OP I often wear nude tights/stockings with a nude court shoe & it looks great as it's neutral it can be worn with any colour of dress & would definitely look good with the green

GreenBudgie · 13/06/2018 19:48

Go for green :-). Your colouring is perfect for it, wear it with sheer pale tights and enjoy your day.

frasier · 13/06/2018 19:49

The green is fabulous!

fuzzyfozzy · 13/06/2018 19:50

This green is lovely

IlikemyTeahot · 13/06/2018 19:51

First of all you are not 'the size of an elephant' you are my size except i dont have the same boobs i once did after 3dc Grin
I think both dresses look nice, the green looks very comfortable and love the colour and the skirt but it does draw a lot of attention to your chest. I think the blue looks lovely it gives you a really nice shape and is actually very flattering.
I see what you mean about the green one covering/hiding more but in all honesty I don't like it around the chest, the way the fabric is sitting under and around the boobs looks odd. Does it tie behind your back at all?

I think I know the issue your having with the blue one because it's fitted, it is highlighting a lil bit of squidge, the trick to that is high waisted pants or no pants/ thong and some tights with extra support around the waistband. Honestly it would be fine without but if it was gonna bother you then go for the support option.
Primark do body shaping tights for £3.50 in black or nude.
Would you consider losing the dark tights for flesh colour ones?
Ditching the dark tights might also give you more options for footwear.

Another point i want to throw out there is that Navy goes so well with paler skin even more so with red hair.

I appreciate that you might not want to believe it or may not see it for yourself yet but you do have a lovely figure..so you shouldnt be afraid to show it off!!!

oooompa · 13/06/2018 19:52

@Shinygoldbauble sorry to keep you waiting, I eventually found it, I hope the link works! Smile
