According to dh, my style is 6th form drama teacher. What’s yours?

So I do have a penchant for some ‘ethnic’ style jewellery and a billowy frock. And a bit of beading/embroidery/sequins/faux fur. I think I pull it off Grin but no matter what I wear this is what I look like. You could put me in a trouser suit and I’d still look like a art/drama teacher. What’s that all about? What’s your inescapable style?

I try to be Clare Underwoodish but I really am more of a female Steve Jobs

DarthNigel · 10/01/2018 16:51

I feel I've lost all sense of why my duke is since turning 35.. I like the sound of Berlin depressive though. Maybe I'll
Give that a go.

O yes, wouldn't we all! Envy

wizzywig · 10/01/2018 17:00

Why a 1980s teacher/ librarian of course

EivissaSenorita · 10/01/2018 17:02

@DarthNigel why my duke 🤣. Mine is teenage boy evening through I'm wrong side of 35 🙄

EvilTwins · 10/01/2018 17:19

I am a 6th form drama teacher. Today I'm wearing a grey jumper with sparkly bits in it, a dark red skirt, black tights and knee-high boots. Sequins, yes, but no billows or ethnic jewellery.

I used to teach drama in a school and made a point to not dress like a drama teacher, just to confuse people. I'd be more likely to be in a smart dress and heels.

AppyForts · 10/01/2018 17:59

Hmmmm. I want to say French actress, but in reality, I’m probably more Honey from Eastenders. Not terrible, I suppose, but not the look I aspire to....

Browtox · 10/01/2018 18:03

Glamorous. Everyone describes me as that. I love it. It’s hard work.

My mate said once I looked like a librarian who had given up

I’m well jel @Browtox. What’s your secret?

Once asked DH what my signature outfit was and he said pencil skirt and black top. And then he added “well actually pyjamas but thankfully not out of the house” Blush

acornsandnuts · 10/01/2018 18:16

Stuffed sofa.

I’ve put in weight for the first time in my life and desperately trying to lose it while refusing to buy bigger clothes.

Someone who got trapped in White Stuff overnight.and has forgotten that other shops exist.

Mupflup · 10/01/2018 18:22

Noel Fielding! I am female. I wasn't impressed but I do have a penchant for pointy boots, furry coats, patterns and hats so I must admit I do know where he's coming from. If I had to describe myself I'd say I had the dress sense of an overgrown toddler.

GeorgeHerbert · 10/01/2018 18:26

Social Worker. Quite near what I actually
do!

CryptoFascist · 10/01/2018 18:32

Ageing 90’s indie chick with a smattering of Berlin depressive. Accurate.

The fashion equivalent of Letitia Cropley’s cooking. (From vicar of Dibley)

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 10/01/2018 18:41

Just a soupçon of ‘Il ne faut pas souffrir pour être belle’ with a generous shake of ‘Opened the wardrobe door and put on whatever fell out at my feet’ - that's my style!

Sheeeesh · 10/01/2018 18:47

Urban Scandi is the aim Smile

PurpleCrowbar · 10/01/2018 18:49

Ageing goth aka Mrs Danvers from Rebecca, if she did an Art & Media Studies PGCSE. Lots of long black skirts, too much 'interesting' jewellery & purple-ish hair.

I'm in Montreal and I can confirm that all the rumors you've heard about Northern Quebec are true Grin

She'll have a whale of a time.
