So I do have a penchant for some ‘ethnic’ style jewellery and a billowy frock. And a bit of beading/embroidery/sequins/faux fur. I think I pull it off Grin but no matter what I wear this is what I look like. You could put me in a trouser suit and I’d still look like a art/drama teacher. What’s that all about? What’s your inescapable style?

Britpop With a Touch of Mod

I live in Fred Perry jumpers, Adidas, stripes and anything leopard print

RhiannonOHara · 12/01/2018 11:02

Bag lady.

I work from home, long hours and don't get out much , so not many reasons to dress properly.

I have a huge stock of baggy-kneed trousers and old leggings, massive sloppy jumpers and the current loves of my life, my fluffy Ugg slippers.

Would however love to sport a Scandi-chic minimalist look –simple lines, interesting details, luxe fabrics.

ExConstance · 12/01/2018 11:04

Sexy bluestocking.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 12/01/2018 11:48

From the neck down either preppy or 60s teenager (I like a miniskirt).

I can't do the hair and makeup for either style though!

GuyMartinsSideburns · 12/01/2018 12:36

Dh says swishy art teacher/bag lady. I don't mind this tho it's pretty much what I go for Grin

I'd like to add 'Fagin' when I wear my fingerless gloves/wrist warmers

callmekitten · 12/01/2018 13:40

I really enjoy hearing what the husbands and partner have to say about our styles. They see us differently than we see ourselves. I asked mine this morning and he thought a moment and then said "Rainbow kitten steampunk surprise". So there it is.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 12/01/2018 14:33

My DH said 90s-smart-eclectic ahaha

Housewife2010 · 12/01/2018 14:42

I was very happy with my new retro shoes until my friend told me yesterday that they were "very Kirsty Allsop". Noooooo!

YouCantBeSirius · 12/01/2018 14:54

My partner said like a female version of him GrinBlush to be fair we both generally wear jeans, t-shirts and hoodies.

2Cold4me · 12/01/2018 15:09

I'm loving all the descriptors that people (or their dp's) are coming up with! Really paints a visual picture!

TheHeraldOfAndraste · 12/01/2018 15:53

Victorian steampunk assassin crossed with Rosa Diaz from Brooklyn nine nine.

skippy67 · 12/01/2018 17:33

DH said "elegant". I'll take that!

bingohandjob · 12/01/2018 21:16

I veer from Scandi utilitarian librarian to Bet Lynch due to my love of leopard print 'as a neutral'.

I love experimenting with clothes.

MoreCheerfulMonica · 13/01/2018 08:25

Tasteful, smart and interesting, apparently, so perhaps not a fat pottery teacher after all.

MoreCheerfulMonica · 13/01/2018 08:26

That's according to my life partner.

Queenofthedrivensnow · 13/01/2018 08:30

I'm definitely mostly Berlin depressive but at work I am like an extra from clueless since I now have two tweed mini skirts!

Todamhottoday · 13/01/2018 09:04

Asked DH, his reply Country Casual.

Not too dressy, not too shabby. Smart and a little relaxed, not defined by any fashion.. will take that.

Im my mind I would be wafting around like Stevie Nicks with purple platform suede boots and dressed in floating silk embroidery done by elves in la la land, but really look like I work in a library (and have just discovered White Stuff) with sensible wool skirts, cardies/jumpers and knee high boots and ethnic jewellery and scarfs, love a scarf.

midnightmooch · 13/01/2018 10:02

I asked dh - he said he didn't even know what grunge was when dd and I talked about how I dressed in the 90's - how could he tell what way I dressed now! I think, he thought it was some kind of trap and refused to answer for fear of incriminating himself! Grin

Queenofthedrivensnow · 13/01/2018 10:03

Ps I love 6th form drama teacher that's great

Tatie3 · 13/01/2018 18:38

Bingo I think everyone suits a bit of leopard print now and again.

I am a 46 year old accountant, and would be happy to look like Ben Affleck in the film of the same name.

In reality, it is probably more David Brent on a bad day.

OhPuddleducks · 13/01/2018 19:15

Someone told me once that I looked like a primary school teacher, but I have primary school aged kids now and there’s no way I’m a skinny or smiley as that lot.

partyof3 · 13/01/2018 19:31

Asked the husband, he said “practical and rural”. I like to call it garden centre chic 🤣

DoAsYouWouldBeMumBy · 13/01/2018 20:06

Oh my actual God, I just asked DJ what he thought my style was now - he thought for a few moments, and then said, "You look like you own a Cornish tea shop." Thrilled with that GrinGrinGrin
