According to dh, my style is 6th form drama teacher. What’s yours?

So I do have a penchant for some ‘ethnic’ style jewellery and a billowy frock. And a bit of beading/embroidery/sequins/faux fur. I think I pull it off Grin but no matter what I wear this is what I look like. You could put me in a trouser suit and I’d still look like a art/drama teacher. What’s that all about? What’s your inescapable style?

Another all over the place...as a size 20 there is definitely an element of "shit that fits"! But comfort is key....am 38 going on 68 with my collection of hotter boots and cosy woolovers knitwear! 😂 Sort of feel that at 38 I am only starting to get an idea of how I want to look, and have the confidence to buy/wear what I want.....wish i could fully embrace the more theatrical / creative dresser that lurks deep down inside!

Gingernaut · 11/01/2018 13:31

Casually dressed, butch elf.

Supermarket jeans, Skechers trainers, M&S polo neck and charity shop, stripy jumper topped with a cheap, camoflage green anorak.

jennymac · 11/01/2018 13:32

Also 90s student

ToastyFingers · 11/01/2018 13:35

DH says i dress like an elderly lesbian wizard.

I like florals, capes and kimonos, paisley and lots of layers but usually have a punk-rock haircut and some fairly large tattoos.

frankiehat · 11/01/2018 13:58

Love all of these!

I am definitely nondescript in neutral colours with plenty of black and an occasional 60's
Vibe.

I try to blend in these days..

frankiehat · 11/01/2018 13:59

Oh I say I try to blend in but DH sometimes asks me if I'm wearing a pair of curtains

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 11/01/2018 14:16

Bit Scandi, bit yoga-ish, bit country-ish, a lot of black. I like a cigarette pant, to chuck in a wanky fashion singular. Very plain though, I'm not one for patterns or 'statement' jewelry at all.

It depends what I'm doing really.

I am surprised to learn that so many people have been on the receiving on witty and creative descriptions though. I've never been told I'm anything approaching wizards, elves, 1940's hookers, Alice-in-wonderland-meets-Gothic clown or exploding from pages of Boden or whatever.

To be fair though, I don't think I've ever said anything like that either! Grin

PrinceMichaelOfMoldavia · 11/01/2018 14:20

I often get old men saying “eeeh Bet Lynch!” when I walk past them in my leopard coat. I have pink hair and tartan leggings.

ZaZathecat · 11/01/2018 14:59

My dh says I'm very 70s (it is said as a compliment).

CastielIsMyAngel · 11/01/2018 15:37

In my mind, 1940s glamourpuss. In reality, Housewife, 49.

IfNot · 11/01/2018 16:21

My husband once told me I looked like a Lego Friend (admittedly I was wearing a Boden aqua cricket jumper with a lilac trim).
Thats made me laugh Grin
I look like a hardened late 1970s lady detective. Wink

wrapsuperstar · 11/01/2018 16:54

‘Gulag librarian’ (says DH, coined by someone clever on here on a thread about Toast. No prizes for guessing what brand I often gravitate toward...)

callmekitten · 11/01/2018 17:22

My first instinct was to say aging 80's punk but even in the 80's I leaned toward punk but loved bright colors (also couldn't manage all that rage) But then I also likes some new wave type fashion...and the Mods....and 40's fashion. I love to combine different styles. Explosion at the thrift store, I suppose...always been a bit eclectic.

ommmward · 11/01/2018 17:45

charity shop chic without the chic. Definitely.

DullAndOld · 11/01/2018 17:47

80s agricultural college student..:)

ShiftyMcGifty · 11/01/2018 17:49

Wear-it-until-it-stains. I work from home.

theredjellybean · 11/01/2018 17:50

80's yuppie at work, my dp says milf at weekend... But I think he is hoping to get lucky tonight... It's more tory mp at work and Clare foy in the crown at weekends due to my obsession with cashmere twinset

helzapoppin2 · 11/01/2018 17:57

According to some pupils, I am Molly Weasley!

EvilCleverDog · 11/01/2018 17:58

Teenage metal fan

ARichVernacular · 11/01/2018 18:08

I am actually going to ask DH when he gets in. God knows what he will say. All I know is he's glad I'm past the 'hairy cardigan' years.

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 11/01/2018 18:27

I asked my husband what he’d call my style he said Trendy. I’d go with that, I’m pretty trendy, not sure if that’s good or bad!

VioletCharlotte · 11/01/2018 18:27

A bit hippy chick

duckling84 · 11/01/2018 18:45

Council estate chic

Skinny jeans, tank tops and hoody all from primark. Uggs. Messy bun. Silver hoop earrings.
I think I look like one of those Instagram models, all messy but perfect, but in reality I probably look like waynetta slob

ProjectGainsborough · 11/01/2018 18:46

Came on to say something like ‘left bank chic’, but looking in the mirror, I think ‘Alan Titchmarsh dressed for a cold snap’ covers it.

Gammeldragz · 11/01/2018 19:10

I wish I had 'a style', it would make buying clothes a lot easier! I dislike most clothes in most shops, I'm good at knowing what I don't like.
Today I wore a mid length teal knitted dress over a teal and white striped top, black leggings, brown ankle boots and slim brown belt, which I thought looked okay.
Usually black jeans (skinny or bootcut) and whichever top is clean. I am rubbish at choosing clothes even when I can afford to buy some. I've lost weight and still losing so have about 4 outfits. When I'm at goal I will actually buy clothes that go together and try to find my style..
Any advice on how to find one?
