Mixing it up. PLEASE come and join us. MrsW too.

MrsWobble3 · 03/09/2017 12:42

I'm enough of a Luddite that I don't have WA. I do have young people in my house who could sort it out but I haven't got round to asking. Perhaps I should....

Today's drama is lunch at MILs and a blocked toilet - she has dementia so trying to sort it is quite repetitive.....

Rosenspants · 03/09/2017 13:34

That's tough MrsW Flowers WA is easy enough to download and use otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do it... (fellow Luddite)

I must not neglect this thread. In S&B I have started the autumn clothes chuck out. Most satisfying...a few items to eBay and lots for the chazzer. Am wanting some tweedy trousers for the autumn...not wide leg but not clingy over the thighs and bum. Any ideas? Like black, grey or berry colours. (Winter)

MsMartini · 03/09/2017 16:25

Yes, please come over Magi and MrsW - it takes five mins to download and set up (uses your mobile number) and is easy to use.

S and B news - sort of - I did a muddy obstacle course yesterday and my legs are quite a sight, with bruises ranging from light green to dark purple. Mottled pain, new Farrow and Ball colour perhaps?

magimedi · 03/09/2017 16:54

I am such a Luddite that my mobile is a v old Nokia & doesn't have internet access!

Much as I love you all I do feel better when I don't spend too much time on line, so I think I'll leave it.

MrsWobble3 · 03/09/2017 17:40

Snap Magi - I also have an antique Nokia! (And an iPhone but that's for work.)

hattymattie · 03/09/2017 19:25

Have had a lovely day - sort of end of summer lunch in Paris followed by a walk in the Marais. Investigated Jo Malone as need new body lotion but cannot decide between Blackberry and Bay and Basil and Neroli. It's so expensive I should really wait till Christmas but I like it instead of perfum and it makes me feel good after a shower.

Have tried on various wide legged crops and decided that it is not for me - looks completely stupid - I saw elderly Parisian woman absolutely rocking the look but there is obviously something bizarre with my shape.

Am going to chill with beer now an continue binge watching Orange is the New Black for my last evening of freedom.

Auriga · 03/09/2017 19:43

Arles on a sleepy September Sunday is just lovely 😊

motherinferior · 04/09/2017 06:56

Oh god Auriga that sounds...better than Catford on a grey autumnal Monday!

I feel the need for an autumn meetup coming on.

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/09/2017 07:11

When/where do you suggest, MI? As you know, I am always up for a drink...

motherinferior · 04/09/2017 08:28

There's always our usual watering hole...Magi, are you around for a meetup some time?

motherinferior · 04/09/2017 08:43

There is an interesting thread on becoming invisible in middle-age. I'm not sure how far I have experienced this but (a) I've always been massively unconfident about my looks and think nobody notices me anyway (b) I have v definitely inherited a tradition of Old Ladies Rule from my Indian mother...

magimedi · 04/09/2017 08:59

Where's the thread, MI?

I am not around much until mid/end of October!! Off for a few days for a family reunion this week, then off to Turkey for a couple of weeks, home for a week & then off to see PFGD & family!

Being retired is exhausting Grin

motherinferior · 04/09/2017 09:01

Am on phone so can't link but it's also in S&B.

Rosenspants · 04/09/2017 12:04

I need to catch up on it, yet it's an interesting thread. I do feel however that the invisible woman of a certain age is a problem way more complex that just how we dress. And I think actually it starts in the home by being ignored by teen and older DC and DP/DH... Hmm I have a really close friend whose teens started saying stuff to her like "What do YOU know...you're only a [insert status/profession/job]" I think that sort of thing is waaaaay more invisible-making that dressing a particular way, or not. Suddenly getting flamboyant because of being middle aged old can look a bit sad if we get it wrong. Not that I know what right actually is, of course. Confused

addle · 04/09/2017 14:58

Think you're spot on, Rose, an I've seen it happen in quite a few families with powerful capable mothers - as though it's a horrible part of the growing up and separating.

Blackduck · 05/09/2017 06:05

Here we are gearing up to back to school. New trousers purchased but of course will not be put on until the morning - here's hoping they fit!
I have decided to stop buying clothes for myself as I have too many...
Invisible women - agree is about more than clothes, much more complicated issue.

motherinferior · 05/09/2017 07:01

Slightly concerned dd2 will have outgrown everything by the end of the week, such is her rate of increase. DD1, being now non-uniform, will no doubt drift in wearing a mashup of hers and her mates' second-hand clothes.

motherinferior · 06/09/2017 08:01

Morning all.

I definitely need a meetup! One Sat so R can make it? Magi, when are you aroundGrinGrin?

Blackduck · 07/09/2017 06:08

I was going to suggest next Friday as down to see college friends.....

MsMartini · 07/09/2017 08:24

Invisible woman - sometimes I feel less so than I used to with young dc, think I feel more myself in my own skin or something? But from the purely physical POV, in big crowds I feel very trampled on/invisible. Last time I went out to local hipster place on a busy night, people actually moved me from side to side - so they were seeing me but not as a person.

MU, I would love one but will have to see how various uni departures are shaping up. It is an odd month.

motherinferior · 07/09/2017 09:04

I have a press jolly to the Channel Islands next weekend but have fun!

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/09/2017 09:09

I can probably do next Friday, BD.

In S & B news, I think I have found my ultimate nude lipstick from Nyx.

magimedi · 07/09/2017 09:12

I'm looking ahead to November, MI, before I'm free!

MrsS - have you left work to start studying yet?

bigTillyMint · 07/09/2017 14:14

I can probably do next Fri too - might be a good idea as we will be dropping DD to uni the next day!
