Yay, Rosenspants!

Airborne, lovely, lovely post.

Yes - I love JA but reading accounts of her life - oh my......

addle · 20/10/2017 09:11

Joyous post , Airborne. So pleased.
Herbs, I've been considering the Superdrug snake oil too esp at half price but think should also be doing face exercises but can't quite be bothered
Mrs s mention guerlain reminded me - anyone use or used to use the guerlain little multicoloured balls of face powder? Can't remember what it was called

motherinferior · 20/10/2017 09:57

Talking of oils I am working my way through a stash of face oils I appear to have blagged and I am liking them. Though might not claim dewy youthfulness, quite...

Rosenspants · 20/10/2017 16:48

Well, DH will go to DS2s concert instead so I have added myself to the list. I hope it will all be ok...I'm being pulled in many different directions not least by DS2 who knows that DH doesn't really care for classical concerts.. Hmm and keeps saying he shouldn't bother...

I feel hopeless, as I put almost nothing on my face. Tinted moisturiser/ BB cream, which acts like a very sheer foundation daily, (Garnier, cheap as chips) and that's about it. Nivea Blue pot if the skin gets dry patches in the winter. Perhaps I should have invested more...I have a loathing of anything even vaguely greasy on my face and do have facials but always have to rub my face down with a flannel after.

Lovely to hear your course is going so well, Cloud

motherinferior · 20/10/2017 20:05

I wouldn’t worry, Rose. I slap on a bit of sunscreen and dabble in OTC retinoids but that is it. No evidence for anything else so go for anything cheap that’ll stop it feeling too dry.

motherinferior · 20/10/2017 20:06

DS2 can go instead if he’s so concernedWink.

MsMartini · 20/10/2017 21:19

I don't put anything on my face except sun cream in summer (know I should probably wear it more), occasionally some sort of moisturiser and very occasionally try to deal with the odd whisker. I seemed to miss the memo on make up, lotion all of it, and never started.

MsMartini · 20/10/2017 22:28

Crepes, I need tops/shirts. Not too floppy/clingy, plain, nice neckline. Not ruffles, frills, dips, anything asymmetric. I tried some OK ones on in Gap today but they were tight on the arms and billowing around my chest and middle. Not a good look.

motherinferior · 21/10/2017 09:31

If all else fails I’ll pick you up some kurtas but you’ll have to wait till Jan.

motherinferior · 21/10/2017 09:31

You’d look fab.

I do have large arms and shoulders though (always have, they are getting a bit smaller with weights based exercise oddly but will always be hefty!)

hattymattie · 21/10/2017 10:52

Addle - the Guerlain multi coloured balls are called meteorites - there was talk about them on another thread where the OP wanted a healthy glow. I looked at these but they are full of glittery bits (and apparently smell of violets). Also v pricy. Another product mentioned was Hourglass Ambient palette which is not available in France but also has a hefty price tag but apparently is really the business.

Mrs M - Uniqlo?

MsMartini · 21/10/2017 15:30

Uniqlo jeans are great for me. Tops not so much - shoulders and arms again (apart from their thermals which I wear for half the year). I have had had success with Great Plains, Esprit, Gap, before but they all seem to have a lot of ruffles, pelmets and other haberdashery type things at the moment.

hattymattie · 21/10/2017 17:34

I agree - what's with the ruffles at the moment - it's the sort of fashion trend people will look back at in 10 years time and say "how could I have worn that?" - a bit like certain offending articles from the eighties.

MsMartini · 21/10/2017 18:41

I know - and being on the short and round side I look like a teapot in a tea cosy in them. Am not upbeating, am ok with how I look in normally cut clothes - but that seems to be jeans and jumpers at the moment only

hattymattie · 21/10/2017 18:55

Mrs M - I'm not exactly sure whom those ruffles are aimed at nearly everybody looks daft in them.

MsMartini · 21/10/2017 19:14

Perhaps to hide the fact so much is polyester?

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/10/2017 09:53

Not S & B at all, but a couple of years ago I forked out £££ for a lovely Egyptian cotton silly thread count sheet. It feels wonderful and so much better than any others, but I have just noticed that it has gone into huge holes where it has worn through, and will have to be thrown out. In contrast, we have some 100% cotton BHS sheets that we got as a wedding present 24 years ago that are still going strong, and some 1970s "St Michael" sheets from M & S bequeathed to us by an elderly neighbour when she went into a home, that still look like new. My question is, what should I replace this sheet with?

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/10/2017 09:54

Dull, I know...

Rosenspants · 22/10/2017 10:01

Well you could buy Egyptian cotton for the loveliness accepting it might not go the distance.....I'd be having a mooch around John Lewis maybe...

MsM I quite like the look of a knit like this over a longer length fitted long sleeved tee, like this

I have a couple of those Mint velvet knits and find them very flattering, although pill quite badly, infortunately.

motherinferior · 22/10/2017 10:11

Oh yes, I’ve been working a cut-price version of that look...

In S&B own news have finally bought v nice studs for ears from funky tattoo/piercing place and am contemplating another little one as there is space on the lobe (I have Indian ears) and it stops me contemplating a tattoo.

MsMartini · 22/10/2017 10:20

So a long-sleeved thing under a short-sleeved thing? Aha. (I have always been baffled by short sleeved jumpers and what temp you are supposed to wear them in). I like the Boden tops and assume cos modal they will have a bit of drape/shape? - thanks, may try one of them to get me started.

MI, where have you looked for cut-price versions?

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/10/2017 10:46

Long sleeved thing under a short sleeved thing like Sheldon Cooper. Grin

motherinferior · 22/10/2017 10:55

I was wearing my Fatface sale linen T shirt over a Uniqlo thermal.Smile

MsMartini · 22/10/2017 11:02

Aha. Fatface I have done well with and their stuff tends to fit me well but their online service is shocking and the shops are few and badly stocked - was in one the other day - only the smallest and largest sizes.
