I am on the hunt for a deep chestnut pair of pull on calf length boots.

Anyone seen anything decent?

Also what is up with Toast this year?

Simple solution Flo. Hit the cake.

Floisme · 25/08/2017 17:04

Cake would only work on my arse though tabybert. It was on my shoulders where the fit was worst so I'd probably need to eat all that high protein stuff and even go to the gym Grin

Floisme · 25/08/2017 17:24

That should have been taybert - sorry!

harrietm87 · 25/08/2017 17:28

Ha ha flo, prob easier to find another coat...your protein enhanced shoulders mightn't suit your other clothes!

Is anyone else actively wishing for the weather to get a bit more autumnal?!

taybert · 25/08/2017 17:55

Yeah. Maybe look for another coat. Although if it really was perfect there's always the option of anabolic steroids.....Wink harriet makes a fair point about your other clothes though so might be best avoided.

taybert · 25/08/2017 17:55

Oh yeah and they're illegal and dangerous and stuff.

MumBod · 25/08/2017 18:18

Has anyone seen any Boots that resemble Isabel Marant Robbys?

I love them but they're ridiculously expensive.

Nearlyadoctor · 25/08/2017 18:25

Mumbod I'd suggest Fairfax and Favor but not a lot cheaper £275-£325

GoGoGazelle · 25/08/2017 18:29

I'm on the hunt for non-chunky jumpers to wear with jeans. Want them to last more than one winter without looking like a cat blanket!

EnidButton · 25/08/2017 18:58

Can anyone recommend some black opaques please? (80 or 100 d) The M&S ones I just bought are too shiny and slippy.

GoGoGazelle · 25/08/2017 19:52

Tesco Opaques are brilliant enid

EnidButton · 25/08/2017 21:11

Thank you GoGo. Are they just called 'opaques' because M&S ones have all different types. Wish they'd just do normal boring ones like they used to. (Unless I'm just too early.)

curragh · 25/08/2017 21:32

I like the M&S 'velvet touch' opaques, nice soft matte finish

EnidButton · 25/08/2017 22:40

Curragh Think they're the ones I bought. "Velvet touch luxe"? They're not matte really. Maybe it's the 'luxe' bit making a difference.

EnidButton · 25/08/2017 23:03

Sorry, thank you Curragh. I'll go and have another look at their range.

LoveBeingAMum555 · 25/08/2017 23:23

Glad someone mentioned brogues, I have two pairs of Clarks brogues which I wore a lot and got a bit bored with. They are so comfy! I am petite with size 6 feet and wore brogues with thick tights and skirts or dresses.

I do an office job in a cold draughty building and I am on my feet quite a bit so being stylish is a challenge. 100 denier tights are definitely warmer than trousers. Can I confess that I bought some opaque tights in Lidl that did rather well?

pleasestopsnoring · 26/08/2017 08:18

Can I join you? Love this thread every year, looking forward to jumpers again
Last year marks did a burgandy slouchy v neck jumper, I procrastinated too long and it sold out, I was gutted. Has anyone seen similar this Year?

Laiste · 26/08/2017 08:24

I have the navy Hobbs trench on order Grin I am SO excited it's ridiculous!

I don't often buy expensive clothes, and i've been wearing the same winter coat for about 4 years running now. (It doesn't actually suit me and never has!) I searched in vain last year for a new coat within my usual budget (£60/80) failed to find one and found nothing :(

I have my eye on this handbag. It's something else i nearly bought last autumn and then didn't. Glad to see it's still available.

LoveBeingAMum555 · 26/08/2017 08:34

Oh that Hobbs Trench is truly beautiful. So practical too .. but I already have a good Navy trench ...

TimetohittheroadJack · 26/08/2017 08:58

I just got these boots from Cloggs after 'just looking' at the boots linked by Quim up thread. An extra 20% off makes them a bargain at £78

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/08/2017 14:02

Boden order just arrived - a green off the shoulder ruched dress, which is lovely but will need some seriously sucker-in knickers underneath, and a beautiful black jacket for work. The latter isn't quite what I've been looking for - it's viscose and has poly in the sleeve lining, but it's really nicely made and was only £40 in the sale - M&S would want more than that for something that you couldn't stand next to a lit cigarette in for fear of going up in flames.

harrietm87 · 26/08/2017 14:08

I just bought 3 pairs of trousers and a blouse from Uniqlo - oops!

Trousers are their "smart style ankle length" - loads of colours, only £25, and I think are going to be my saviours for workwear over the next few months when I'm still trying to hide my pregnancy (I'm 7 weeks - I sized up and these have an elasticated waist!). The waist does NOT look lame though I promise.

And then I got this blouse in mustard - easycare (win), great colour and shape.

Also saw so many lovely things in Cos but expensive and not sure how much wear I'll get out of them, so held off for now.

Anyone else shopping this weekend?

MynewnameisKy · 26/08/2017 14:09

Can someone recommend nice dresses to wear with opaques and boots. I am so tired of my Breton top with Gilet look.

I turn 46 this week and want to look less. Grin

Nearlyadoctor · 26/08/2017 14:37

Mynewname if you want something fairly plain Hush Ivy dress or Tara dress may fit the bill, both comfy and good quality jersey.( I like both and am also 46)

I finally succumbed and spent my birthday money on another pair of Dubarry boots I've been coveting. I managed to get 15% off by buying them from cloggs using new customer discount. They arrived this morning and are fabulous.

Went for the black as I have the Clare's in walnut.

applesandpears33 · 26/08/2017 15:10

Has anyone tried on the new M&S long length trenchcoat that has a hood? I've been looking for a smart coat with a hood for years and have been eyeing it up. I bought another coat from M&S recently though and the sizing was pretty off, so I'd like to know if this one is also generously sized before ordering online. No reviews up yet on the website.
