I am on the hunt for a deep chestnut pair of pull on calf length boots.

Anyone seen anything decent?

Also what is up with Toast this year?

I want to try some just-above-the-knee skirts this fall (of corduroy or plaid or velvet.. maybe a black pleated one) with black tights/thin leggings and my little black boots.

I also adore slouchy leg warmers with black leggings. Or above the knee knit leg warmers

Bomber jackets layered over a chunky sweater

A big huge scarf that almost resembles that famous Lenny kravitz photo Grin

Chunky knee high combat-style boots. And some black doc martens

And a nice plumb lip, amethyst or light slate-gray smokes eyes
And I'm seriously thinking of going back to my natural brunette ..a nice warm gingerbread for autumn.

I've been wearing far too much charcoal gray and black in the cold months, and I want to add more color this fall! Maybe a splash of red velvet somewhere, more plaid, and olive green

Ooh some great links left today - thanks everyone! ExConstance I love the sound of your outfit. I keep going back to look at that Toast boucle coat.

I also love some of those Walker Slater tweed coats from Victoria's link a couple of pages ago, especially this full length one

OCSockOrphanage · 14/08/2017 21:12

I really don't like leading people astray, but the Times linked Vyselondon cashmere sweaters, and although the ones I like are OOS, some are very covetable.

Still feeling the tweed love, but today my fickle heart is entirely given over to yearning for a bright orange denim jacket.

ReinettePompadour · 15/08/2017 16:02

Has anyone posted the Joe Browns link? Theres lots of tweedy/checks styles in their Autumn/Winter collections.

For tweed lovers:
Joules aren't normally on my radar but they do tweed jackets and coats most winters.

Old fashioned country clothing shops are worth checking out too. I found my Harris Tweed jacket in a fair trade shop but the label was Peter James

And titter ye not but if you're really into Harris tweed then The Edinburgh Wool Mill have a selection of jackets although you may need to scroll down past the flat caps to find them.

Tweed lovers don't forget the House of Bruar.

Like Woolovers you need to get over the cough styling 😉

Ha - House of Bruar, they send me their catalogue every year! I shall look at it with fresh eyes.

I'm enjoying this thread and after 10 years in the style wilderness I'm ready to make my comeback!
What are the trends for A/W 17? Specifically, heel shape, overall silhouette and colours? Shall I start a new thread for this question?

Squashit · 16/08/2017 09:06

I know! This however has potential 🙂

Disclaimer - I do like quirky stuff 😄

Squashit This one is very similar in style and around a quarter of the price of the Bruar jacket.

Never thought of joe browns. Nice find Reinette!

twostepsister · 16/08/2017 11:25

Popped into John Lewis yesterday and had a look at the Modern Rarity grey coatigan and unless you are over 5ft 9 tall it would touch your ankles. Such a shame as the colour and material are excellent.

Onprozacandmyhighhorse · 16/08/2017 18:38

I ordered the M & S tweed coat shown a few pages back and it arrived last Saturday. Really pleased with it - fits really well and a good length and I managed to get it with 20% off on my Sparks card!
It's not really heavy material which is good for driving and if I'm having a hot flush!
Thanks to the person who posted the link. Flowers

Walker Slater clothing is excellent quality. My dh & do got 4 pairs of cords each, in lovely colours for £50 in their discount shop. They had some lovely women's jackets & coats, but all very small sizes unfortunately.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 16/08/2017 19:51

My children have just presented me with this lovely hat.
I am chuffed and impressed with DH.

Pippin8 · 16/08/2017 20:13

Ah man, I really fancied that coatigan.
Alas, I'm only 5'6.
Hush have a few nice bits in the new collection. I'm quite liking this coat.

Here's a Hush coat. Love the style/length. Can anyone find me one of similar look/quality in Camel?

Ha! Pipin ! Co-incidence! Saw this last night and loved it but can't do Navy. I have a very hairy dog and within seconds I'm covered in this...

JemimaMuddledUp · 17/08/2017 06:47

I'm concentrating on classics and things I know suit me rather than worrying too much about fashion. I have a milestone birthday this winter and am hoping to hit it looking put together...

So far purchases have mostly been replacing staples. I bought a black cable poncho several years ago in Next and have worn it to death, so much so that it is now really faded. So I have ordered a navy cable one from Joules to replace it.

I have also ordered new jeans, on the perennial search for the perfect pair. Plus I replaced some of my Boden breton tops using the MN 20% code. Hoping they are decent quality this year and not too thin.

I love autumn, it's my favourite season.

Floisme · 17/08/2017 07:01

Oh no! I really like that Hush coat and I've been so rude about them in the past. Am I about to get my come-uppance (again)?

Pippin8 · 17/08/2017 08:02

Suki-I have a white spaniel, I just avoid him when I'm in my best clothesGrin

I also need new jeans, I bought some from tu at Sainsbury's last year & have just had to bin them as they've gone baggy & not kept there shape.

I don't mind paying ££ for some decent ones, but I struggle with jeans as I've got massive hips & a tiny waist.
