I am on the hunt for a deep chestnut pair of pull on calf length boots.

Anyone seen anything decent?

Also what is up with Toast this year?

Someone was looking for a rust-coloured velvet skirt. Saw in H&M just now, looks nicer in real life than pic.

MaQueen · 13/08/2017 21:37

I very, very much wants these www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/category/shoes-430/ankle-boots-4979409Boots

But, I'm pushing 47 and worried I will look vaguely ridiculous in them Blush

MaQueen · 13/08/2017 21:38

Sorry, this is the link Boots

MaQueen · 13/08/2017 21:54

I'm also wanting a quilted, cross body bag in mink/taupe colour - and some black velveteen/moleskin leggings/skinnies. Laura Ashley had the perfect pair last Winter but I stupidly didn't get them Angry

Anyone spotted any???

Floisme · 14/08/2017 09:05

Went to a couple of vintage markets this weekend, hoping to spot a long trenchcoat or/and a very small men's overcoat. I found neither but I did come away with an Aquascutum reversible cape for £40: one side tweed and the other showerproof. If Miss Marple and Sherlock Holmes had a secret love child it would have been this.

I was really just trying it on for the crack but my husband said it looked good and I should buy it. I've just left it at the dry cleaners so won't know until the end of the week whether it's a touch of genius or grounds for divorce.

I still want (but have no need for) an overcoat.

Laquila · 14/08/2017 09:39

Oh Flo...you had me at "Aquascutum reversible cape" ❤️❤️❤️

Please update when pictures when possible!!

MaQueen · 14/08/2017 10:10

Oh my Reinette that is perfect. Thank you Smile

Floisme · 14/08/2017 10:24

I will try Laquila Smile I've a feeling I may be turning into my Uncle John who always wore a cape, smoked a pipe and kept dogs. But he was a very nice man so hey...

Niminy · 14/08/2017 10:39

Floisme I googled vintage aquascutum cape and am now feeling envious.

I think this may be the year of the coat. I've been wearing nothing but down jackets (sometimes with waterproofs over them) for several years because I've been cycling everywhere, but now I tend to walk so a coat would get more use. And I'm fed up of trying to wash down jackets successfully.

I am thinking about tweed quite a lot. I was in a fabric shop the other day and found myself spending quite a lot of time looking at bolts of Harris Tweed.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/08/2017 10:49

I tried the M&S cotton trench on, in khaki. Needed to size down a lot, at least 2 sizes and maybe 3. I liked it, but dp said I looked like a cross between Philip Marlowe and Sherlock Holmes. It's lovely cotton, with a nice, soft tartan lining. Not sure it's for me (am going to try again in yet another size down), but it's one of the nicest quality things I've seen in M&S for a long time.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/08/2017 10:50

Cape sounds fab.

Floisme · 14/08/2017 10:56

It is rather splendid although I think I may need a monocle to set it off properly.

Niminy I bought myself a Harris Tweed jacket for my 60th. I even chose it ahead of Vivienne Westwood which had to wait until this year - that's how much I love it. I also have a second hand one. The colours are beautiful plus they're warm and, while not waterproof, the rain does kind of slide off.The cape sadly, isn't Harris but you can't have everything.

I've seen that khaki raincoat Remus and really liked it but not tried it yet. Humphret Bogart is one of my style heroes so it sounds good to me.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/08/2017 11:05

And I guess I'm reaching the age of finding a sensible Autumn coat slightly appealing, gawd help me.

Floisme · 14/08/2017 11:13

A desire for a nice warm coat is definitely one of those watershed moments. I don't think any of my son's friends have a coat between them.

I am now even the owner of a proper, grown up bad weather coat. (Seasalt - got it in the January sales and don't think I even bothered mentioning it on here) so at least I don't need to bore you all with that again.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/08/2017 11:18

I have a lovely warm coat (Parka London)which I love, but am thinking more on soggy Autumn days when it's not properly cold.

Beadieeye · 14/08/2017 11:23

I watched Notes on a Scandal last night and have decided I want everything Cate Blanchett wears in it.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 14/08/2017 12:32

My parka arrived, it's gorgeous!

Whatthefoxgoingon · 14/08/2017 12:52

I would love a beautiful wool cape.

ExConstance · 14/08/2017 13:48

I love the Toast boucle coat too. I have the black denim dress from the sale which I'm wearing with socks and Chelsea boots (and coloured tights) as per the Toast web site. To begin with I felt a bit strange but when I caught sight of myself in a mirror I felt it all looked rather good.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/08/2017 15:21

Which one did you get, Schnitzel?

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 14/08/2017 15:32

The ParkaLondon Marni, linked to early on in this thread. In khaki.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/08/2017 15:43

Ooh - v nice. Glad you love it.

ReinettePompadour · 14/08/2017 17:02
